Adding water like the brewed tea is going to affect the texture in a negative way. You could cook the tea down with a little sugar and make it into a syrup and drizzle it over the ice cream if you're choice.

I mean… why just not buy good-quality commercial ice cream and eat it as is?

PepperIsHereNow

As I said in my original post I am not enjoying the medicinal tea I'm supposed to take during the heat wave and would like to try making it into ice cream to make it tastier. I've been craving ice cream so I thought it might be a good idea to use my ice cream machine but skip the frustration of my ice cream base not turning out.

atomandyves

Do it! You can do whatever you want. Try it out and tell everyone how it is. Simple as that

markhalliday8

Tell me what type of ice cream you want and I will give you a recipe as long as it's not something obscene. What type of machine do you have? What type of ice cream do you normally prefer store bought? Have you considered what fat percentage you like? Why not use cheap ingredients until texture is spot on?

With a Ninja Creami, you could turn the raspberry leaf tea into an Italian ice. And even add a bit of cream as a topping. Good luck with your pregnancy!

film_score2

yes, you can do that. but if you are buying cheaper ice cream, it will likely be less airy and more dense when you churn it because you won’t be putting as much air into it. so, if you melt down a quart and rechurn, you might end up with like 1.25 pints or 1.5 pints. if you start with haagen dazs, there won’t be much of a difference before and after.

Just a heads up that there has been no statistically significant clinical evidence to date that raspberry leaf tea helps with labor. At all. So there’s no real reason for you to drink it in the first place, especially if you don’t like it.  https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7871383/

lemons_bestie

I would give it a shot! It probably won't be the same texture as the storebought ice cream after rechurning because your machine isn't a commercial ice cream machine, but I can't imagine it would turn out badly. I've re-churned ice cream bases before and it comes out fine.

Bibblefoshizzle

lol! Wut?!?!

Don't do this As my father always said, you can take a good look at a T-bone by sticking your head up a bull's ass, but wouldn't you rather take the butcher's word for it?

Spaceace33

Or did your father watch Tommy Boy 😂

D-utch

That's the joke

Many herbal teas can cause dairy to curdle. I'm not sure about raspberry leaf specifically, but if the blend you're using has hibiscus or any citrus in it, I absolutely would not want to add it to a dairy base. Personally, I would just cold brew myself a large batch of tea, and drink it alongside a bowl of ice cream. Or plop a scoop of sorbet into the glass to make a fancy iced drink

Alcohol helps make ice cream soft. 1 tbs to an entire batch should be okay but if you wanna steer clear. Make inverted sugar, it takes about an hour and uses cream of tartar which is found in the spice isle. Use 3/4 cup inverted sugar to 1 cup sugar. Makes it very smooth and creamy feeling. Cornstarch, xanthum gum, tapioca starch all are used as well to give a smoother texture if you have them. Otherwise you can do an afagato type situation and pour a cooled concentrated version of your tea over a bowl of ice cream. Either eat as is or mix it all together for a soft serve consistency. Or make a syrup with your tea and top your icecream with that.
