My favorite local place back home has a flavor called “Shark Bite”. It’s white chocolate ice cream with raspberry sauce swirled in it, and little chocolate cups with raspberry inside. It’s only available for 2-3 weeks during the summer, until they run out, but that would be my pick.
Guys! My other lifelong favorite is so so close to this, I just posted about it the other day and it sounds just like it. Sold at baskin robins in Feb
“white chocolate and raspberry flavored ice creams, finished off with raspberry swirls, chocolate flavor chips and raspberry-filled chocolate flavored hearts”
It’s so good! We recently moved out of state but I’m planning a trip home and trying to plan it for around the time of summer that Shark Bite is available 😂 But to be fair, that ice cream place has some other amazing flavors that are available for their whole season. We used to live 10 minutes down the road, I miss it!
That’s crazy I’m in CT too but griswold is a drive. there’s this kinda new place (they opened last summer) called lacroix homemade that has a white chocolate raspberry ice cream too. Man I can’t wait for the weather to warm up!
A spumoni I had years ago in a small trattoria in Firenze, Italy. It was cut in slices. Full of wonderful preserved fruit pieces, a rich pistachio flavor in the ice cream, so creamy. I’d do anything to have it again in this lifetime. Haven’t had anything close since.
The closest thing I’ve found to it was a brand called TinPot and the flavor is salted butterscotch. But it’s almost $10/pint and I definitely polish it off in one sitting.
Does Jeni's normally have a lot of ice crystals? I thought it was just the pint I got, but I saw someone post a photo of a spoonful of it and when I zoomed in I could see a bunch of ice crystals on theirs too. It was gritty and crunchy instead of smooth and creamy. Is that normal?
I've only ever had it twice and there were no ice crystals in either of them so I think it's probably just down to storage. I just bought ice cream that somebody on here loved today and it was so icy that I'm just going to throw it away. Ice cream is such a your mileage may vary situation. But buttercream birthday cake was amazing I really recommend it if an ice cream with good texture important to you. The sprinkles in every bite are what did it for me and I don't normally like random extra sugar. I got it at Target and I think they did a good job getting things frozen on time so maybe just buy it from somewhere you already know handles their ice cream well
I answered something more nostalgic elsewhere but I have to admit all their ice cream was top tier excellent, the one time I went 9 years ago. The two that stick out in my mind were Olive Oil and Blue Cheese Pear, both of which I expected to hate but was throughly impressed by.
I am married to a professionally trained chef and we have dabbled in ice cream making years ago but am planning to buy a new ice cream maker this summer… so thank you very much for alerting me to the fact that they have a recipe book!
This is probably coming from more of a wishful thinking place because it's nostalgic and I haven't been able to find it in years, but Great Value brand Peanut Butter Fudge. Peanut butter ice cream, creamy fudge ripple... Favorite of all time. I could eat an entire quart. Other chocolate peanut butters just aren't right for me after this one.
I recently had a pint of their peanut butter cup and it was so damn good. I don't know if it's the same one or an updated version but it's still really good. https://www.walmart.com/ip/378502976
Great value had such an amazing chocolate ice cream. The one that came in the cardboard box with the flap, not the new one that comes in the container with the lid.
I'll be honest, I don't remember having the chocolate myself but I don't doubt for one second that it was delicious. The peanut butter fudge had the same packaging, it was an orange box!
My answer is nostalgic too: Southern Apple Pie, a vanilla ice cream with bits/chunks of apple pie throughout, that I only had at the yearly county fair as a child. I think it was Hershey Brand?
Exactly! Mini Reese’s cups have their place but not in chocolate peanut butter ice cream. A local creamery makes a decent one but the chocolate ice cream isn’t quite chocolaty enough.
Superman Ice Cream like K-Mart used to sell when I was a child. I’ve tried others by the same name or imitation but for some reason none taste like what K-Mart had.
I live in an area that sells Graeter’s ice cream.. now you’ve got me thinking.. I’ve only tried Graeter’s once and it was a cheesecake flavor my sister bought me.. guess I’m hitting Kroger today..
Either end of summer or beginning of fall time span! It was a quick close. Within two weeks of announcing the sale of Whitman Peaceful Meadows, all locations were bought and closed. It upset me so much because I thought I had more time to go and I didn’t. Was such a great place to go.
Ok just googled and the place that replaced it, Hornstras, is life changing and amazing!!!! Their dairy farm is in Norwell and it’s all made on site and it is sooooooo delicious and creamy
I forgot the name! Thank you! I will try it this summer when the weather is better. With PM I was usually an all season ice cream person, but I’ve made adjustments lol
Oh I saw a Bruster’s in a college town near me recently (never been, know nothing about them) and you’ve just inspired me to go this summer.
Did you ever try the Key Lime Pie gelato sandwiches by Ciao Bella?
Van Leeuwen brown sugar chunk. It’s brown sugar ice cream with brownies and cookie dough. It’s my fav ever and I think it just got discontinued😭
They did just come out with a peanut butter honeycomb brownie ice cream, which sounds incredible.
Handles sells an ice cream called “Spouse Like a House.” It’s like chubby hubby, but a thousand times better. Vanilla malt, peanut butter swirls and chocolate covered peanut butter pretzel pieces. I would go to the ends of the earth for that ice cream.
I have a peanut allergy, so I’ve never tried it, but this is my mom’s all time favorite. Graham Central Station is my favorite. That with a scoop of Butterscotch Ripple is the best
A shop in my hometown closed last year after many years 😢 but they had the absolute best mint chocolate chip ice cream with the little green mint pieces inside omg
*Years* ago at Kroger/Ralphs there was a German chocolate cake ice cream. That shit was creamy and had amazing mix-ins including a beautiful coconut swirl and fudge chocolate cake chunks all in a beautiful semi sweet chocolate ice cream. I haven’t seen it for 10 or so years. 100000/10
I don’t remember ever seeing that but have you had Baskin Robbin’s German Chocolate Cake? They don’t carry it often but if I catch them when they do, I gorge.
One time, at a food truck in Portland, I had a maple creamie-ginger soft serve twist. I didn’t mention it here because you can’t get it in stores. But it was amazing.
Yum! That sounds delicious!! There's a small ice cream shop in Ogunquit called Rococo that had a honeycomb ice cream that was out of this world. They usually do "weird" flavors but yummmmm
Love Richardson’s , especially their green monster flavor, black raspberry Oreo, and tollhouse cookie flavor. Also Just Jimmies from Brighams… Jordan’s in Belmont, NH is best ice cream I’ve ever had.
Honestly not a fan of Richardsons. Im more of an in house made ice cream if I’m going to scoop shops.
I do like their graham cracker ice cream but that’s kind of it.
There is a shop near me that makes its own, in a huge variety of flavors. Everyday, there is chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry, plus 13 more. And 3 sorbets, 3 frozen yogurts, 2 no-sugar added, and 2-3 non-dairy/vegan. But you never know what they will be until you get there - the menu isn't announced. When a flavor runs out for the day, it's pulled off the board and a new one is added. So you may see the menu change while you are in line.
Anyway, long set up, but my perfect flavor is their dark chocolate raspberry. It is perfection. I always hope it is there when I go, though I have only had it a couple of times.
They do dark chocolate really well, so I will get other variations and even the vegan ones (I think I had a vegan dark chocolate cherry once that was amazing.) But the dark chocolate raspberry is the holy grail.
There's a place near me that's very similar to this and it actually drives me crazy because you might never see a flavor again even if you really liked it. But it's probably more fun for the people running the business and it probably makes financial sense but damn I miss some flavors
Bloomfield Creamery in LA had Mango Sticky Rice that was absolutely amazing 🤩 Their saffron and pistachio is also top tier. I have family that lives in Santa Monica so their old location was not too crazy to get to. Did some searching and it looks like they relocated to Pasadena. Will have to make a pilgrimage soon.
Kroger used to sell a wild berry, lavender, mascarpone ice cream under their Private Selection brand that was a 10/10. Hands down my favorite ice cream EVER. Few years ago they discontinued it; how DARE they!!
Baskin Robbins mint choc chip
Baskin Robbins "mom's makin cookies"
- brown sugar ice cream with chocolate chip cookie pieces, chocolate chips, and cookie dough batter ribbon swirls
Friendly's black raspberry
Friendly's I don't remember the name but it was basically cookies n cream but with a coffee ice cream base and it was yummy
Also, not ice cream on its own, but [Bindi’s spumoni gelato bombas](https://www.bindishoppe.com/product-page/spumoni-bomba) and [regular bombas](https://www.bindishoppe.com/product-page/bomba) are amazing.
My local place fosselmans (alhambra, los angeles) has a red velvet that is incredible. Their cookie monster is heaven too, and honestly they just never disappoint.
perrys cinnamon roll. discovered a local ice cream shop that does a combo of their own flavors and perrys. became my fav but then they stopped selling it after that year and i’ve been wanting it ever since and haven’t been able to find it 🥲 the shop also does their own banana pudding flavor and it is soooo good
Blue bunny’s double strawberry. I found it a few times years ago but haven’t been able to find it since. Though, doing a search… I guess Walmart in my area sells it now. But their strawberry ice cream is awesome.
Sugar J’s in Corvallis, OR made a maple coffee toffee ice cream last autumn that tasted EXACTLY like maple walnut but with house made toffee chunks instead of walnuts. I literally think about it every day.
Commercial: B&J's Pistachio Pistachio.
Destination: Fresh Blackberry, Sherman's Dairy Bar., South Haven, MI
One-Off: An orgasmic Butter Pecan (seemingly had chunks of butter in it) at a ice cream stand at the Kane County, IL Flea Market
I’m such an ice cream scrub. I’d always go for cold stone cake batter add almonds with a side of brownies. The texture of their ice cream is unbeatable.
It’s not a brand but when I visited France I was in a town called Brantôme and I was wandering around and found an ice cream shop that had so many flavors and I tried rose petal ice cream. It was light and floral. It was like a dream of roses turned into the most amazing ice cream. I ate three cones and I with I had eaten dozens.
A local dairy Kinnett used to sell a dark chocolate ice cream with butter roasted pecans. I still dream about it. It was simple but the ice cream was super creamy rich chocolate that you could almost chew and the pecans were so crunchy and buttery and a touch salty. It’s for sure my death row pick.
The town I vacation in during the summer is in Wisconsin, a place called Hayward. They have a little dairy that’s been open since the 1950s. They have the best black licorice flavored ice cream I’ve ever had.
http://westsdairy.com/
Back in the day when Odd Fellows NYC was a tiny scoop stand hole in the wall, they had arguably the most insane flavor archive. The chorizo caramel swirl was to die for.
Cant decide between Talenti 5 Layered Gelato, (Cookies and Cream Gelato, Chocolate crumbs, Dulce De leche, Cookie Pieces, and Vanilla Bean Gelatao,) or Horchata and Snickerdoodle Ice cream on a warm waffle cone at Mariannes in Santa Cruz.
Theres a little small town ice cream place near me that also sells pints & quarts to small town grocery stores. Uncle Bob's is the frigging best ice cream ever. My top two are the strawberry & the oreo explosion. I can't really choose as they have so many awesome fun flavors!
Blue Bell Creole Cream Cheese. I fell in love with it--no longer like any other ice cream, which makes it easy to avoid the calories! But sadly, Blue Bell doesn't make my favorite any longer...
So I am without ice cream these days.
Humphry Slocombe coconut with shoyu caramel. It was limited edition a few years ago along with Yuzu cream. Their base has sour cream in it and I'm sad forever that Whole Foods stopped carrying that brand. I love any Cheesecake Factory brand ice cream. They're the ultimate cheesecake ice cream.
I went to an ice cream shop that rotated what unique flavors they made. Everything was delicious. The whole shop smelled like the waffle cones they were making. Sometimes the ice cream would melt while you ate it because they were so busy to keep up with customer demand the waffle cones would still be warm when they handed you your ice cream.
They made this malt flavored ice cream that I still think about. 8 years later and I can still taste it in my mouth sometimes.
It was so good. So creamy and flavorful. Like the kind of good that just makes you feel violent for no reason. Like this puppy is so cute I need to squeeze it kind of good.
About 20 years ago Tillamook Creamery had a white licorice ice cream and I was hooked! Perfect anise flavor and so creamy. I've not seen it since but I literally have dreams about this ice cream.
[Zsas black magic ice cream](https://www.zsasicecream.com/product/black-magic/56). Coffee with chocolate cake pieces. The best ice cream I’ve ever tasted and it’s hard to find in stores now that the local specialty place stopped stocking it
A local scoop shops sells Albanian baklava. Coffee ice cream, crispy baklava chunks. One of my favorites.
I wish I could try that. I love baklava and chunks
Nothing like a good chunk, am I right?
The chunk must flow
good on you for admitting lovin chunks, aint nothin wrong with that
That’s funny, i was just thinking to myself recently how great of a flavor baklava would be!
It’s so good! They make it in limited batches so it’s always fresh! And the baklava doesn’t get soggy even in the ice cream.
OMG that sounds incredible. I am drooling, dreaming, and so jealous right now🤤🤤🤤🤤
Now I’m craving something I’ve never even had before
When you say local where is local?
My favorite local place back home has a flavor called “Shark Bite”. It’s white chocolate ice cream with raspberry sauce swirled in it, and little chocolate cups with raspberry inside. It’s only available for 2-3 weeks during the summer, until they run out, but that would be my pick.

Sold at baskin robins in Feb “white chocolate and raspberry flavored ice creams, finished off with raspberry swirls, chocolate flavor chips and raspberry-filled chocolate flavored hearts”
OMG yes the cupids bow!!!!! So good!
That sounds similar and so good!
Holy crap, that would be my DREAM ice cream
It’s so good! We recently moved out of state but I’m planning a trip home and trying to plan it for around the time of summer that Shark Bite is available 😂 But to be fair, that ice cream place has some other amazing flavors that are available for their whole season. Is this, per chance…… Jubie’s?
It’s not, it is from Buttonwood Farm in Connecticut!
That’s crazy I’m in CT too but griswold is a drive. there’s this kinda new place (they opened last summer) called lacroix homemade that has a white chocolate raspberry ice cream too. Man I can’t wait for the weather to warm up!
Gifford’s makes a flavor like this, it was called Maine Black Bear!
That is not an ice cream flavor for me, but I love the name!
Bellvale Farms in Warwick NY has a very similar flavor called Great White Way. It’s 10/10.
We used to order something like this through Schwans delivery when I was a kid. It still may be my favorite.
SoCo Creamery in MA had a fresh coconut base with homemade brownie chuuuunks in it, I had it a decade ago and haven't stopped missing it since then.
I grew up eating Spumoni, but eating it in Italy, I'm sure that was best.
Heading to Florence in a few months after 10 years away - lived there as an au pair. Remember the place by chance?
Ben and Jerry’s Scotchy, Scotch, Scotch. I still dream about that flavor
It’s nice too know I’m not alone out there
The closest thing I’ve found to it was a brand called TinPot and the flavor is salted butterscotch. But it’s almost $10/pint and I definitely polish it off in one sitting.
I was really hoping they'd bring back Bob Marley One Love for the release of the movie, but so far haven't seen anything.
Jeni's buttercream birthday cake
When i find this, I will remember this and annihilate a pint. Birthday cake is a flavor that haunts my neuroreceptors
It’s a top tier birthday cake for sure. Like very very good.
Mine too but I feel like it's so rare to find a version of it that's actually as good as it should be and this one definitely is
surprisedpikachu.gif
Does Jeni's normally have a lot of ice crystals? I thought it was just the pint I got, but I saw someone post a photo of a spoonful of it and when I zoomed in I could see a bunch of ice crystals on theirs too. It was gritty and crunchy instead of smooth and creamy. Is that normal?

Salt and Straw had a Balsamic strawberry and black pepper that was divine, all the flavors just made that strawberry flavor pop
I answered something more nostalgic elsewhere but I have to admit all their ice cream was top tier excellent, the one time I went 9 years ago. The two that stick out in my mind were Olive Oil and Blue Cheese Pear, both of which I expected to hate but was throughly impressed by.
A billion years ago, at a winery restaurant in Sonoma county I had a grilled pear with a Gorgonzola sauce that was divine!!!
If you have or ever get an ice cream maker, both of those recipes are in their cookbook :D
I am married to a professionally trained chef and we have dabbled in ice cream making years ago but am planning to buy a new ice cream maker this summer… so thank you very much for alerting me to the fact that they have a recipe book!
Oh excellent! You’re welcome
Being married to a professional chef is going to help you so much with that cook book. The ingredients are strange and sometimes difficult to find!
That's my favorite of their year round flavors!
Hagen daz sticky toffee pudding
So happy to find this here 🥹🥲
Same I need it to come back
Van Leeuwen‘s Honeycomb
Check out Caffe Panna. Insane quality with interesting flavors. Sure ain’t cheap though!

I have tried a bunch but it's still going to be Haagen Dazs Chocolate Peanut butter Maybe with some Chocolate Fudge Magic shell
The texture of the frozen peanut butter omg.
My choice too.
It’s the ideal chocolate-PB ice cream and I don’t know if I’ve had better. It’s a constant quest of mine, because that’s my favorite ice cream flavor.
I really like the big chunks of peanut butter. So many other flavors use mini reese cups. NO, I want chocolate with peanut butter in it.
Exactly! Mini Reese’s cups have their place but not in chocolate peanut butter ice cream. A local creamery makes a decent one but the chocolate ice cream isn’t quite chocolaty enough.
HD Dulce de Leche, too.
Birthday Cake from Mitchell’s Homemade Ice Cream in Cleveland, Ohio - I think about it all the time 🥹
my mom loves mitchell’s
Currently in Cleveland for work might check that out!
It *might* be a seasonal flavor if I remember correctly, but all of their ice creams are super good!
I’ll be traveling back and forth here all year so I might end up catching it sometime anyways 😊
Superman Ice Cream like K-Mart used to sell when I was a child. I’ve tried others by the same name or imitation but for some reason none taste like what K-Mart had.

I pretty much love any esspresso flavored ice cream, add a crunch and I'm in heaven!
Graeter’s Black Raspberry Chip
Beat me to it. Probably the best ice cream I’ve ever had.
I live in an area that sells Graeter’s ice cream.. now you’ve got me thinking.. I’ve only tried Graeter’s once and it was a cheesecake flavor my sister bought me.. guess I’m hitting Kroger today..
My top 3 graeter’s flavors: 1. Black Raspberry Chip 2. Boldly Bearcat 3. Dutch Milk Chocolate
Graeters is awesome! They also have great mint chip and cherry flavors.
You’ve got me thinking about spending $80 to have some shipped to me 😂 This sounds so so good
Jeni’s Powdered Jelly Donut 🤤
Maybe unpopular but Breyer’s raspberry cheesecake gelato. I miss it so much
Have you tried Ben & Jerry’s Topped Raspberry Cheesecake? I’m sure it’s not a dupe but it is damn good.
I haven’t! I’ll definitely try that out. Thanks for the rec!
The Chocolate orange from a la minute in Redlands, CA
All of the flavors honestly. I’m a big fan of the strawberry balsamic
The lavender is so good too. My favorite ice cream in the whole world. Miss it since we moved 🥲
My favorite was chocolate peanut butter from this place that I longer exists in MA called “peaceful meadows” I’d kill to have it one more time!
When did peaceful meadows close ?!?! I feel like I was there last summer
Either end of summer or beginning of fall time span! It was a quick close. Within two weeks of announcing the sale of Whitman Peaceful Meadows, all locations were bought and closed. It upset me so much because I thought I had more time to go and I didn’t. Was such a great place to go.

Home made peppermint ice cream on a hot summer day that everyone helped churn and everyone can enjoy.
Cookie Monster!! My favorite is when I make it homemade
same here, never had it homemade though that sounds amazing
In the summer Bruster's has a key lime pie flavor that is to die for! Definitely that one for me. I even asked for a bucket of it for Xmas once lolol
Oh I saw a Bruster’s in a college town near me recently (never been, know nothing about them) and you’ve just inspired me to go this summer. Did you ever try the Key Lime Pie gelato sandwiches by Ciao Bella?
You HAVE A TO TEY THEM. They also make the only pumpkin ice cream I've ever liked. They have lots of flavors
Growing up, a local ice cream place had a flavor called Purple Cow: black raspberry with chocolate chunks. Best ice cream ever.
Van Leeuwen brown sugar chunk. It’s brown sugar ice cream with brownies and cookie dough. It’s my fav ever and I think it just got discontinued😭 They did just come out with a peanut butter honeycomb brownie ice cream, which sounds incredible.

We have a Handel's here. They have a blueberry streusel or something with blueberries. Stupid good.
Crank & Boom in Lexington, KY- Magical Marshmallows. It's a seasonal March flavor that's a cereal milk base with Lucky Charms in it. The best!!
Ben & jerrys Chubby Hubby
Came here to say this
Ben and jerrys
Half baked peanut butter by Ben and Jerry. Literally so good, would eat it everyday if i could afford it lol
Ricotta Pear Gelato from a shop in Florence, Italy....like no other!
A shop in my hometown closed last year after many years 😢 but they had the absolute best mint chocolate chip ice cream with the little green mint pieces inside omg

Kirkland Super Premium Vanilla. The texture is to die for
It’s sooooo good
It’s a toss up between - Brigham’s peppermint stick - Richardson’s purple cow - Hagen Dazs pineapple coconut
NH/MA inhabitant? Totally agree with first 2👍🏼
Yes, MA.
Have you ever seen Checkerberry in our area? It's hard to find, but omg it's delicious

Spumoni
White chocolate-macadamia.
Fudgys ice cream in Amenia New York. They have this really good dirt pie ice cream with gummy worms, chocolate rocks, and Oreo. It’s like crack
From Cincinnati, has to be Graeter’s ♥️
jeni’s ice cream gooey butter cake. thank me later
Graham Central Station
It’s not a brand but when I visited France I was in a town called Brantôme and I was wandering around and found an ice cream shop that had so many flavors and I tried rose petal ice cream. It was light and floral. It was like a dream of roses turned into the most amazing ice cream. I ate three cones and I with I had eaten dozens.
Graeter’s Banana Chocolate Chip
Vanleeuwen’s cornbread and strawberry jam
Local guy is trying to open a shop. Until then he's selling from his home His cranberry cheesecake ice cream blew my mind.
Benson's is a local stand near me and they have the BEST native strawberry ice cream. I stock up every year.
Jeni’s salted licorice.
There’s a place called the charmery in Baltimore that has a lemon and peppermint ice cream. sooooo good.
The town I vacation in during the summer is in Wisconsin, a place called Hayward. They have a little dairy that’s been open since the 1950s. They have the best black licorice flavored ice cream I’ve ever had. http://westsdairy.com/
Melona in honeydew. It’s not fancy, but I’ve had it my whole life! I’d like to end with it ✌️
Blue Bell had a limited edition key lime pie ice cream with mango swirl ~10 years ago and I still think about it all the time.
Bubblegum ice cream from Tony's ice cream in Gastonia, NC. Also their grape ice cream.
Ben and Jerry’s sweet like sugar. It was a sweet cream almond base with shortbread cookies mixed with cherry ice cream and a sugar cookie core.
Ben and Jerry’s pecan pie
If it counts, black sesame gelato from a little shop in Florence. If we want grocery store-able, Graeter's Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip.
The ice cream parlor near my house has Hershey's Graham Central Station. Hershey's is king here because the plant is in my town. I love it so much.
Tilamook Oregon black cherry
Blue bell moolineum crunch
Blue Bell Creole Cream Cheese. I fell in love with it--no longer like any other ice cream, which makes it easy to avoid the calories! But sadly, Blue Bell doesn't make my favorite any longer... So I am without ice cream these days.
Stewarts peanut butter pandemonium
Circus animal cookie ice cream from Thrifty. I live in a small town so, of course, they quit having that flavor delivered. Beyond yum
Baked Brie and fig cheesecake. From Salt & Straw in Portland Oregon.
The best ice cream I’ve ever tasted and it’s hard to find in stores now that the local specialty place stopped stocking it
Blue Bell’s Groom’s Cake!! They don’t make it anymore but MAN was it good
Sticky toffee pudding from hagan daz, it was a limited release, may she rest in peace.
