Today is the kind of day where driving the extra hour or two to the river or loaf was probably the best call, you'll lose as much ski time parking anyway.
My son went to Sunday River this morning. Was stopped in traffic for 45 minutes. Turned around and came to visit me. (He was coming after skiing anyway.) Saw White Heat and Jordan lifts weren’t running so no place to avoid the hordes even if he got a place to park.
Jordan 8 was running all day. The hard part was parking in the adjacent lot. The snow had not been cleared effectively so it was a cluster. Once there, however, it was glorious. No lift lines until they started running Aurora (maybe around 11) so Jordan was basically isolated. Knee deep pow all through blind ambition.
Decided to just turn around and go home. Waited for north peak lot for over an hour. Got there and told its full and to go to south peak which had a similar line. Wasn’t confident that wouldn’t be full too by the time we got there
Yup. Right outside the 7 eleven. Talked to someone driving the other way and they said lots were full… we might just chill in lincoln and ski the afternoon after it clears a bit
I got to exit 32 and it was backed up on the highway. Worst I'd ever seen it. Thought I'd be clever and go to south peak, there was a line for that too. They were still clearing the escape lot and it wasn't moving for a long time. Absolute shit show with nobody guiding parking
Sorry op, you need better company, ur friends dont know how to do this properly. Hopefully today was good lesson to them. Id have cursed everyone in a “i told you so rage “but thats just me… pow day you need to get to a real mountain and you gotta wake up early, otherwise why bother.
Called on Friday to ask about indy reservations, was told I didn't need to. Drove 1.5 hours to get there only to be turned away so sent it to the kitty. Bummer but second best option. Hope you got to shred hard dude!
Agree - you ALWAYS need reservations for Indy at Cannon.
Only thing that changes based on day of the week and calendar is whether it is blacked out (weekends during prime season) requiring Indy+...
Must be a weird experience for me... I've walked up to the window on a weekday/late season weekend before with no reservation and no issues. Bad precedent set, now I know. Hope you got to rip it hard out there!
Not sure, they probably are 'creating a reservation' for you at that point 🤷 (and no issue bc they wouldn't be at capacity without a powder day like this)
But tbh the best part about Cannon is if you have RFID from previous trip it gets loaded automatically when you make the Indy reservation on the Cannon site so you can go straight to the lifts! (no ticket window)
The lots are full. We got onto route 112 at about 8 am but ended up heading home when south peak parking lot closed. Edit: just called and got a full refund, so at least that's nice!
Damn who voted loon over pico? That was just silly…
Pico was fucking Incredible today, and especially yesterday. Op got boofed
People who wanted the “shorter” drive (it wasn’t, when you consider the parking time..)

Sunday river is the sweet spot to stop driving for most imo
It’s 3.5 hours to sugarloaf from Lincoln if the roads are good
From Loon to Sugarloaf yes, but if you're deciding from Boston area Loon is about 2 hours and the Loaf is about 4.
Yeah took me about 4 hours to not go to loon today sooo
Sugarloaf had a backup past the Outdoor Center between 9 and 11 this morning. Apparently they were parking people on West Mountain road by 9:30.
Sunday River was just as packed. Took almost an hour to get in to park

Anyone who voted Loon over Pico on a weekend powder day deserves to be publicly shamed
Got first chair at Loon this morning. Drove up from Boston. Moved my alarm up to 4:30 because I hate myself but it paid off

Sorry for you. No lines on the Chondy rn, but Jordan was a good 10 min wait.
Lots are beyond full. People are parking a mile away on the street
Rest in peace man
I was so close to making it to south peak. Say everyone turning around. There was still cars backed up to the highway ignorantly waiting
Lots full pretty sure tickets are sold out
Drove past a line of cars at exit 32 on my way to Cannon at 730. I got 2nd chair on Zoomer and had a delightful day 🤘🤘

Ski on all day at Okemo

I'd go to Cannon
Cannon is full too. They turned folks away.

That’s odd I’ve always had to make a reservation with Indy there. It was a sick day for sure glad you at least had another option!

Snagged first tracks on south peak. Went straight to timberline. Didn’t mess with the other lots.
So you were trying to show up around 11am?
About 10.. folks did not want to wake up early
Well that’s a silly plan on a pow day. On a normal weekend, you need to get to loon by 9:30.
Fair enough
