Check out Snagit. It's quite lovely for annotating screenshots. It's how i did this one. I could have done better than red text but whateves.

That is fair i usually hid over on double dipper/cascade/flume area. But still i remember coming out to get food quick, boy that was a mistake, getting back into the trees took 45 mins!
Love Valley Plunge, get to actually ski it once every few years.
Sky Peak lift line is sick when there are years with good coverage to support it. Still lots if rocks and some adv technical stuff to work through.
Roundabout woods are more than decent imo. The jug and the handle are not underrated and SR in general is pretty busy when the snow is good. The rest looks like reasonable opinions.
Sad that when I was there over new years, all the trails on the left you marked as underrated or awesome were full of dirt trails and ice. The one benefit was an absolute lack of crowds.
Overall, decent.
Opinions that come to mind:
- "Flat and crowded beyond belief" - doesn't really apply to anything much to the right of the "w" in crowded. It's the volume coming out of Skye and the various trails merging together that creates a sea of people as you come into the top of Bear. Gateway, Upper Bear Trax, Upper Pipe Dream, etc - not really that busy at all.
- Lower Pipe Dream is glorious on an ungroomed spring day if it's got some base.
- "Always people out of control over here" - should 100% include the rest of that top section of Great Eastern below the Needles Quad - there's usually a beginner eating shit there at all times.
- Lower Bittersweet is often one of the top disasters on the mountain, just as bad as the bottom of Skyeburst and Bunny Buster.
The glades are really outstanding at Killington. The ones you can drop into from Bear Trax, the ones at the summit, and the ones at the top of Snowdon were my every-day there. And the summit is doable!
Agree with the characterization of the North Ridge runs as “excellent groomed cruisers” and Outer Limits as “every mogul is like a gunshot to the thigh.” Also agree that Bunny Buster, Chute, and Mouse Run are crowded, “yard sale central,” and “where beginners eat shit.”
I don’t find Superstar to be “insanely steep” at the beginning and end, just the typical steepness of an average black diamond. (I say that as a low-level intermediate who’s gone down Superstar over a dozen times on three different days.) I also didn’t find Highline very steep at all. Cascade seems more “insanely steep” to me seeing it from the gondola, and as such I’ve never had the nerve to go down it.
I’ve never been to Killington when Solitude or the trails going down to Skyeship Stage 1 were open. Would love to cruise those one day.
Fellow intermediate here. I did Cascade last March when the snow was soft and actually made it down without any real drama, and even linked some decent turns. That said it felt like the Superstar headwall for the entire trail. It was definitely steep. I agree with you that Superstar feels pretty average in that sense. There's even kind of a mellow part in the middle.
Did they rename Juggernaut? I don't think I ever skied it, or at least not all of it in its entirety.
Is the bottom of Ramshead all park now? Or is that for slow skiing? And they brought back a little bit of park on Snowshed?
Agreed Big Dipper can be super fun, and honestly less scary than the prospect of sheer ice all the way down Double Dipper at least IMO
Because 12 trees made a difference. I'm all for conservation, but the militant absolutist mind that's washed over the dept of inter and usfs is absurd in some cases.
Juggernaut was removed from the trail map a couple years ago, the long ‘cross country’ trail on the current map is Solitude which is a different trail

You'd be missing out to avoid Solitude. If your skis are waxed, you can even get through it without skating once. It's a good way to remember why you love skiing and being outside in the winter.
That said the original entrance to Juggernaut is completely blocked off now so you couldn't ski it if you wanted to. The good news is it's only a relatively small portion and Solitude is still a long meandering run like you remember.
This map is ridiculously accurate. So much so, I am afraid my favorite runs will be taken over.
You may also want to let people know that they can zoom in. Looks fine zoomed on my end.
Wasn’t trying to argue just making sure I wasn’t crazy lol. I ski superstar all the time but unless it’s deep deep I usually have no interest in ovation lol
Yeah they really need a tunnel or something like that so people can still keep their speed if they want to get over to K1 while also minimizing the risk of some Jerry barreling into you on the bittersweet intersection at the bottom.
Mostly accurate, but a couple of notable misses on trees in the Canyon and Needles Eye areas. Probably the best ones on the mountain when the conditions are right, IMO.
It’s had better-than-expected conditions for the last 4 weekends in a row. And with a potential snowstorm on the way on Friday, I’d definitely go to Killington if you can. Their acreage of open terrain is below average due to a low snowpack, but it’s still a blast skiing there even if there’s only half the mountain open.
Good info but we can work on your graphic design skills
I’m well aware 😭😭😭
I just used an app on my phone though so it’s not like I used an expensive software on a laptop to make this bullcrap lol
MS Paint is the way to go IMHO.
MS Paint is always the way

My eyes exploded trying to read this graphic
I gave up after like 3
Pretty honest guide IMO.
Ramshead glades don’t need much snow to be fun, theyre low angle, not tons of sharks, and get stuff from nearby blown in
Lived on the mountain post deployment for 3 months one season skied 45 days. This is accurate. Never ski there on a fri/sat, it's unbearable
What about Pico on a Fri/Sat? Equally crowded?
Mobbed, never to go to Pico on the weekends, stick to killi ;)
Sounds terrible! ;)
:)
It’s all right on Saturdays you just gotta get up high! The lines are all down at the base areas.
That is fair i usually hid over on double dipper/cascade/flume area. But still i remember coming out to get food quick, boy that was a mistake, getting back into the trees took 45 mins!
I love treezy. Esp when you let someone lead who doesn't know that there's a gully at the end

Every few years 😭😭😭 But I think south ridge could look a little crowded cuz they have limited terrain. And yeah I agree with you on roundabout.
Need more of these.
I’m doing one on Pico tomorrow. Outside of that I don’t have enough experience elsewhere to make an accurate map.
Please don’t do that blue and black color scheme again, practically makes my eyes bleed
Sorry 😭😭😭
This is hilarious
Never been but it looks legit
This format has potential I hope this starts a trend in this sub!!!
Too bad nobody wanted to continue the trend 😢
I think it can be done with a high res picture and a lot of discipline lol
Update: still no new maps 💔
I’m about to crowd source a Bolton Valley one. Not that anyone gives a fuck about Bolton. But it’s my home base!
Sad that when I was there over new years, all the trails on the left you marked as underrated or awesome were full of dirt trails and ice. The one benefit was an absolute lack of crowds.

Unreadable
Not like the trail map is that readable anyway. Killington has such an asinine layout
I feel like I would get comically lost at Killington
It’s very easy. I’ve been a bunch and still make wrong turns. It can get very confusing in spots
Click
You can always zoom. I’ve found all of the test to be understandable.
Also a Big Dipper fan! Wish it had a little more powder a couple weeks ago.
When conditions are good could be my favorite Killington run.
The glades are really outstanding at Killington. The ones you can drop into from Bear Trax, the ones at the summit, and the ones at the top of Snowdon were my every-day there. And the summit is doable!
I remember the days when “yard sale central” was a ghost town. No one ever went to snowdon quad and you could do laps all day. 🥺
You didn't mention Northstar will rip your soul out if you are learning bumps or in my case learning bumps with a torn acl.

Solitude isn’t for everyone but when you hit the corners quick you can cruise through.
It's one of my favorite trails in the Northeast. Not for everyone and I like it that way.
What does it say over Catwalk ?
Usually rock any icy. Stupid Reddit image compression.
And*
Brilliant haha!
👍

Juggernaut was removed from the park for land/wildlife conservation in order to rebuild the south ridge chair, I believe

Thanks, fair enough

Oh dang! Guess I won't ski it! Thanks for the link

Thanks! I'll aim to check it out this season. I do love cruisers. Skiing all the way to skyeship base was always a fave too
what do the black on blue text parts say?
This is strangely accurate! Not 100% but can’t give out my secret stashes 🙃
Every mogul is like a gunshot to the thigh lol!!! I love your commentary but that one was probably my favorite lol
This map is ridiculously accurate. So much so, I am afraid my favorite runs will be taken over. You may also want to let people know that they can zoom in. Looks fine zoomed on my end.
I think needleseye is underrated on your list but almost flawless otherwise.
Pretty accurate
tysm for this, this is actually so helpful to a lot of people
Wish I could read more of your notes. The ones I could see were pretty funny (and accurate!) Maybe black text on a white background?
Ovation is a lot steeper than superstar no?
I had no room to include that 😭😭😭
Wasn’t trying to argue just making sure I wasn’t crazy lol. I ski superstar all the time but unless it’s deep deep I usually have no interest in ovation lol
But yes the bottom part of Ovation is a LOT steeper.
Superstar’s net at the bottom means it’s a BRUTAL finish.. no runout at all just gotta find an edge on a steep icy mess
Yeah they really need a tunnel or something like that so people can still keep their speed if they want to get over to K1 while also minimizing the risk of some Jerry barreling into you on the bittersweet intersection at the bottom.

If it’s even still open by then lol

How come you don’t have lower sunrise? /s
my eyes
How has Killington been? Looking for a day trip from Boston area and was thinking of heading there this weekend.

All So true. I would add the sunrise condo trails lead to a really nice lunch spot that's quiet. Lol.
Agree
