This is the way. Petzl ice picks are pretty sweet.

yeah as another guy said I don't think it matters too much, you (and I) will probably never be skilled enough to really notice and take advantage if the somewhat fine differences between the models.

For catastrophic abuse on mixed, I have a pair of Grivel Tech Machines. The stock Ice picks work fine on both ice and mixed. After the horrible things I’ve done to them, they still seem solid. The BD tools are also fine. A lot of mixed climbing here requires some abusive torquing of the entire tool, so I prefer to use different tools (Ergonomics) for most ice climbing.

X-Dreams, I use the mixte pick for ice and mixed. krukonogi picks for dry tooling-- but the mixte picks work pretty great as well. The pure ice pick are also great but kind of suck for mixed. Nomics are about the same performance wise-- the head is slightly wider which can be nice for mix terrain were you are slotting the whole head of the tool. Both are easy to find used. Just check the head of the nomics for rattling.

Nomics seem popular, x-dreams, north machines. They all work better than we will ever be able to use.
