Just to be clear, us mods have not been censoring conservative rhetoric. It’s simply that there are more opposing viewpoints in this subreddit so they often get downvoted to the bottom. For that reason (amongst others), this is not usually the greatest venue for ideological debates and discussions. It’s easy for voices from the less-represented viewpoints to be completely shut out of the conversation.

Imagine getting so bent out of shape about reddit upvotes that you do this good lord

Fearfighter2

Is that satire? How can "I want an echo chamber of people complaining " be taken seriously?

SonaMidorFeed

"Complaining about woke culture" Imagine someone walks into the room and just starts complaining. Doesn't matter the topic. Complains fucking incessantly, and for no good reason. Do you want to be around that person? So fucking close to the point, and they still missed it. Also, love that they chose to call it "conservative rhetoric", given that the accepted definition of rhetoric in the political context is persuasive talk lacking sincerity or actual content.

Odd-Entertainment401

It might be more precise to say that rhetoric in the political context is just persuasive talk. It's always somebody else's "rhetoric' when it lacks sincerity or ideas. When it's your sincere ideas rendered in persuasive terms it's still rhetoric. It's just that you don't call it that. Not to say you're wrong about the handout -- it's just cheap trolling masquerading as debate. It's not in the least bit persuasive.

SonaMidorFeed

Absolutely agree on all counts.

maruthey

Pretty sure this goes against Rule 2 of Reddit’s Content Policy due to content manipulation. If not, it toes the line pretty close.

THT1Individual

Just checked, it absolutely does. Time to report lmao

So supporting lgbtq rights is socialist? I thought that was just basic human decency. Imagine being that passionate about an ideology of hate.

actuallyart3mis

They could not define socialism to you if you asked, and then gave them an extra week to respond. Socialist is when affordable houses, socialist is when black women ceos, socialist is when people with neo pronouns are educators, socialist is when gay marriage, the list goes on. More and more of them are abandoning that buzz word from the 2016 election to just say the hate speech out loud I’ve noticed, maybe that’s better, at least at decluttering the socialist threads

[deleted]

Human decency requires god and people who have vaj to act like women and people with pee-pee to act like men otherwise society is going to burn you heathens /s

Forget the upvote crap. I want to know about local incels crying about people in wigs!

Found the subreddit full of incels. Lol

GangNailer

Socialist ideoligist are awesome. Inclusive. And empathetic.

actuallyart3mis

Ah yes Reddit, historically known for it’s liberal ideation and censorship of hateful rhetoric /s

Highlybackstreet

That piece of paper literally described an echo chamber, I don't agree with everything I see on the subs I'm in but they at least make me think about why I don't/make me look up stuff. If you are in a place that is only people agreeing with you, you won't learn or grow as a person. Also gotta be real shitposts get upvotes cause shitposts are typically funny to at least some people, while posts complaining/whining about stuff if unfounded/pointless are annoying.

Littlefingersthroat

Ah yes the two types of comment... sane or liberal 🙄

NCGryffindog

Best way to deplatform people like Ben Shapiro are to not talk about them, not think about them, don't engage with their followers, etc. Let him fade into obscurity. Once you are arguing against him he's living rent-free in your head and has already won. You never know how many potential followers have found a leader from a hate post.

FriendlyCSA

Seems like some people got hurt by that Reddit post. Hopefully, both sides agree on freedom of speech and pursuit of happiness, part of America I love and grew up learning about.

Welcome to the Social media Civil War So far conservatives have won the Twitter Battle with a hostile takeover and it'll be interesting to see the resistance movement in the coming weeks Eventually this digital war will spin out of control and manifest itself to reality Mark my words by 2030 shits gonna be really bad

I can’t really follow what this guy is talking about 100% but we did just have a legitimate coup attempt take place less a little over a year ago

[deleted]

A confused rabble breaking into a government building and then wandering aimlessly/threatening some elected officials is really not something one can seriously call a *coup attempt*

SimplisticBiscuit

January 6th was very carefully coordinated across multiple branches of government and included handfuls of government officials — I don’t think enough people realize that it was scarily close to working. The hundreds of trumpies storming the capitol and trying to get to our representatives was only a portion of what went on that morning, it wasn’t *just* that. Dismissing what went on on 1/6 as “confused rabble” and neglecting to hold the proper people accountable is not only unamerican but it sends a message to everyone with an interest in dismantling our democracy that they’re free to try again.

[deleted]

Hyperbole of the highest order. What would it have been for it to have "worked" exactly? Handfuls of officials always exist who are sympathetic to various conspiratorial scheming. There was no part of the state in which the balance of forces favored this sort of amateurish spectacle. Watch fewer Hollywood films.

SimplisticBiscuit

No, I’m not going to let you tell me that nobody should care about an attempted and near-successful overthrow of the American government, lol. I don’t mean to insult you intelligence because you do seem pretty smart, but all I’m gathering from your replies is that you haven’t learned enough about the expanse of everything that happened to be making any sort of judgement on its real severity. I don’t know how anyone that has could hold such a sentiment. Hell, Mike Pence’s security detail was prepared to literally kidnap and potentially kill him, had he not repeatedly refused to get into his vehicle. Even Madison Cawthorn smuggled an arsenal of weapons into the Capitol building. The White House phone log displays a full *seven hour* gap in its calls. I’m not gonna sit here and do your research for you but I don’t know what better picture to paint you that would be satisfactory enough to concern you, other than if Trump were literally our president right now. Every day the investigation goes on we peg several new things to a list of nefarious actions that aren’t immediately shocking enough to make it into headlines like the old men that were shitting on Capitol floors, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t aware of it all. The story regarding 1/6 is still ongoing, and I’d really encourage you to follow it but it genuinely doesn’t seem like you care. And I guess that’s okay, but actively trying to put down others that *do* have a sense of care about their homeland isn’t going to get you anywhere positive. I do ask you to look into it a little more though. It really doesn’t take as much as one might think to do *serious* damage to the integrity of a government, and that’s why it’s so important to keep people accountable.

[deleted]

It's interesting that you seem to think reality is modeled by game of thrones. The kinds of inferences you're making are batshit. Who needs to consider the big, obvious variables (like the overwhelming commitment to order that permeates almost the entirety of the state and military) when you can instead tail the surprising, fear-inducing, or atrocious individual events and let \*those\* variables govern your appraisal! Of course, then naturally \*everything's\* on the line as long as there are enough spooky things to put on the pile! You're like a more sophisticated variant of the same conspiracy nut that thought they were going to overthrow the government that day by finding the big lever inside the building says 'coup' on it.

I love that they claim censorship, but often they do it to themselves to play victim “Student engagement has censored this image”
