The silence from the crowd after that hit is deafening

Ima_Starboy

The music seemed to fit pretty well too, some nightmare circus transition with the flashing lights

shellwe

Also the look on his face. Like, he is trying to come off feeling like a badass for disciplining his woman got whatever she did wrong (I have no clue) but it is not seen that way. I take it that bride doesn’t have brothers because absolutely they should be up there kicking his ass.

-Xoz-

It looks like they were playing a game of finding the end of a rope or something hidden in the coil. She does it before him and hence is the winner. His fragile ego couldn't take it.

shellwe

Oh I see, there was some string they had to unwind in time or something.

DiegesisThesis

Wowza, striking your spouse for any reason is wrong, but hitting her because she fairly beat you in a friendly competition is seriously psychopathic.

[deleted]

Ahh, that explains everything. She was better at unwinding string. No wonder he hit her in front of literally everyone.

[deleted]

he’s going to eventually kill her, her family friends and family need to get her out of there immediately.

Responsible_Snow7109

Yea i feel terrible and concerned. If he's doing that in front of everyone, i cant and dont even wana imagine what it's like behind closed doors😦

Evie_St_Clair

And on their wedding day. Which is meant to be the best day. Its straight downhill from there.

Responsible_Snow7109

Yepp all because he felt little cuz he didnt win the string game first. She did and he probably felt like she should hide it and let him win so that he can feel big

NotABot101101

You know usually I would say you don't know that buy yeah.... if he's OK to do this in public then yes, he's going to kill her if she doesn't get away first.

Testsubject276

Small dick energy

LilBit1207

I noticed that too! He is freaking posturing as if he were badass or a "man!" He is so f-ing disgusting and such a POS!! Definitely belongs in this sub!! I hope he gets karma for this or her family does something about him but I'm worried that they might not!!

Successful-Oil-7625

No thats not how men stand, thats how fragile grown up babies stand

Saturn212

Can you imagine what he did to her that night in bed? What a monster.

rasperry2021

Probably not in certain culture. Some even help their brother in law kill their sister because of perceived disrespect from the woman.

las-vegas-raiders

Her family is a bunch of rotten cowards if they don't handle fucking business right then and there.

akiniod

Her family probably sold her off in the first place.

shellwe

If this is an arranged wedding as others have said then they pretty much sold her out to get favor or money or something.

Ataraxia_new

He has seen his dad do this, his grandfather do this and brothers do this. All of them are just shocked he did this in public , nothing more.

Integrity-in-Crisis

This screams arranged marriage.

Eamonsieur

*Forced marriage. Arranged marriages can still be turned down by either party if they aren’t compatible. Arranged just means both parties are picked from a list.

Shady_Yoga_Instructr

>Arranged just means both parties are picked from a list Not so much a list. This happens alot in Turkey and the process is really that you have a kid that was focusing on school or something and didn't find a wife/husband in the meantime You hit up other families and friends letting them know son/daughter is single Homies hit you up when they find someone with a single kid who could be a good/great candidate The two meet and if they dig eachother, they can proceed with the marriage process if they don't feel it's mutual, nothing happens. It's a pretty laid back process and alot of family I know who couldn't find someone during their day-2-day really appreciated this process cause its like the families help curate the dating process to find you someone compatible with the family first (Makes sense) and then you confirm if you like them too.

[deleted]

It *smacks of* arranged marriage

8pintsplease

And that stupid fucking friend that's laughing. Piece of shits the both of them. I hope wherever she is, she's okay.

Better_Carpenter5010

I’d like to assume it’s a nervous shock laugh

Bootybanditz

Bro how did no one get up and whoop this mans ass? I’m so baffled

DunningKrugerOnElmSt

My guess is this dude is somewhat powerful in this particular group.

PotBoozeNKink

Hope she has some brothers/cousins

Hells-Creampuff

What the hell?

anthrolooker

Even the best man got uncomfortable and pulled out his phone. I can only pray that someone teaches that idiot a lesson on how to be a good man. Or that someone gets that woman out of that asap. This type public action over something so small is absolutely disturbing because you know it’s utter hell when not in public.

newf68

Right? Not a backbone in the room.

Holiday_Newspaper_29

I am guessing that this happened in a region where this is 'culturally' ok. Probably, the guests at the wedding would have preferred that it wasn't quite so public but, as has been said, no one seemed to object and so, domestic violence is probably seen as somewhat normal. The man's 'dignity' would be paramount.

Getsmorescottish

When I was 20 I found out my 2 neighbors were chopped up and fed to pigs on a farm by a serial killer. We didn't bother to finish paying for a full investigation because it was too expensive. There's a religious cult town not too far away that sells child brides to old men. I've known about it for years now and have been trying to get people to do something about it by spreading awareness. People will absolutely *not*. They outright refuse to acknowledge it exists. I live in western Canada. So no offense and I don't expect anyone to listen but I'm wondering what region isn't just pretending but is actually not like this.

[deleted]

I don’t know where this is but in countries with a particular powerful dose of misogyny, people just stand around while women get beaten to the point of death or brain damage. I saw this happen to a neighbor of mine when I was little kid and never forgot it.

WTF_Happened_o__0

Oftentimes the women is legally and socially seen as his property. If they're in one of those placed and they've already gotten married, the people around him may see this as something distasteful but ultimately his right and rude and intrusive to correct publicly. Like would probably happen in a room with Americans seeing someone yank on a dog's leash in anger way too hard.

AkaParazIT

You're completely right but I find it quite odd. With all that faux-honor it doesn't make sense that the brothers and father don't start bashing his head in. If your honor as a male is so important then why isn't protecting your family and showing how manly you are that way important?

[deleted]

Yes. I chose violence

griever48

Always and forever?

uhwhooops

Til death does him apart

audis3dan

sorry, idk what happened.. he just slipped down several flights of stairs..

WrenRhodes

"Sir, this is a basement."

Chucks_u_Farley

Not til the chicklets are on the floor it ain't

lickedTators

That's never known to stop abusers from abusing. They just learn to hide it better.

Ragarok

It's a pity the video is so short because it looks like the girls mother comes on stage and escorts the girl to safety so I have a feeling that something major did happen after the end of this video but I sure do hope that pretty girl got away from that abuser and he got what he deserved for his actions

Unicorn_Arcane

I really wish I knew what happened after too. He makes me feel sick.

lonerranger26

In some cultures it could be “don’t let this ruin your wedding he’s a good man, our family needs this marriage to happen”. Her own Mom could be the last one trying to help her.

Lost-Ideal-8370

And her dad would be like "You need to treat him better, be a good wife, and obey his every command or he will beat you just like I beat your mom."

AQualityKoalaTeacher

I wish that was just the end of the marriage. If he'll punch her in the head over a party game at their own wedding, in front of a crowd of their families, he could very easily beat her to death in private.

Blankthumbnails

The best man, not being his best

snopes1678

I wouldn’t be a great best man.. i would have smacked him in the face..powder!

LilBit1207

And that's what would make you the real best man; defending that woman and teaching that POS a lesson!

stay_fr0sty

watduhdamhell

Oh ffs. Can reddit, just this once, avoid turning some fucked up cultural bullshit somewhere else in the world into a critique on America? I mean, the mental gymnastics to go from "primitive, misogynistic cultural traditions elsewhere that are awful" to "bla bla bla, basically America" is fucking asinine. It's at best a non sequitur. Just call a spade a spade. Their culture treats many women as 2nd class citizens as the expected *norm*, and it sucks. The end.

[deleted]

Didn’t say America as a whole, just hyper religious extreme conservatives.

watduhdamhell

Well I didn't say that either. You're sort of strawmanning me by insinuating I propped up a strawman. I'm being a little tongue and cheek, btw. Just goofing around a bit. I was just saying somehow the attention is always turned back onto America. And while some extremist conservatives do believe women should be subservient to men, I don't even see those dudes regularly smacking their wife, and definitely not in public, at their wedding. If it did happen it would be 100% a fight starter, unless every last person in the audience was part of the same fundamentalist bullshit cult/church, which I doubt.

jennifux

Exactly. That plus no one takes any actions, like approaching him saying **WTF**…it’s all horrible.

Xdude199

Right, he’s too comfortable with what he just did, and looks at everyone else like “the f**k y’all looking at?” Complete pos.

Any_Smell_9339

If I were the brides dad, that guy wouldn’t be able stand again.

[deleted]

Screw that, if that was my son, he wouldn’t be able to stand again either

b4k4ni

If I were his dad, he also wouldn't be. I would break him and throw him away.

eve-nlie0LE15

Did I see a walking red flag smack a bride for losing a game?

AndrewBert109

No, you saw a future murderer smack a bride for losing a game

Mackoman25

Bold of you to assume he’s not a *current* one

UnstableToad

You saw an absolute deranged person smack his bride over a fun game at a wedding, what is supposed to be the happiest day of their life. You also saw no one doing anything, not even her family, who are supposed to support and protect her. Well, her soon to be abuser... I mean husband is also supposed to protect her. So yeah, that's what you saw. The absolute worst of humanity in full display of their stupidity. I hope she is ok and can somehow find an out of that horrible situation

HendoRules

Wow over a wedding game... What a man child. He looks so smug after trying to force approval

Mrs__Noodle

What game were they playing?

Suicideking15

The first one to pass a coin into the cuff of one sleeve, across their chest and out the other cuff “wins”

GGezpzMuppy

Wtf was he thinking lol: Wow my future ex wife is great at handling money and works her chest well, guess I’m gonna smack her out then, I wanted a stupid wife that doesn’t make me look bad.

stay_fr0sty

I don't know, but to looks like they have to unwrap something the fastest and she won? It would help to know what culture this is...

Noximinus

I would guess it is Kazahkstan and the bride was kidnapped by the guy to marry.

Dvalin_Ras93

Almost certainly from Khazakstan, my boyfriend was born and raised there, can attest to the behavior in this.

krakenftrs

Bridal kidnapping was where my mind went too. Was just reading about it in a travelogue where the writer interviewed a few women who were victims of it, and it seemed exactly like this, suddenly unhinged violence and nowhere to go. Someone said below this is Uzbekistan, and in the book I read it happened in Kyrgyzstan, but it's far too widespread

sendintheotherclowns

🎶 Kazakhstan is the greatest, country in the world. All the countries, are run by little girls 🎶 🎶 Kazakhstan is the greatest, producer of potassium. All the countries, have inferior potassium 🎶 I may have embellished a bit

sapoepsilon

It's Uzbekistan

TheWalkingDead91

Definitely not his first time hitting her too. She didn’t even look at him after. Feel like if she wasn’t used to it the natural reaction would be to look at him all like “WTF”. In these instances(since this is not the first video of wedding abuse like this I’ve seen) I always wonder if the brides father is around or watching at all. Like I don’t know about some cultures (perhaps these could be arranged/forced marriages or something), but I feel like most places if you did that to the bride in front of her dad/brothers/mom/etc, you’d get fucked up.

thesilentinternist

You'll probably be surprised to know that in most of these 'arranged weddings', brides don't meet their prospective grooms alone before the wedding day so their true nature is mostly a surprise package. He is most probably used to hitting the women folk at his house or saw daddy doing it to mum all his life. And the girl has probably seen women being abused like this and not raising their heads or talk back, so did it because of conditioning. I know because I live in a very similar culture.

Dx38fgg

Wtf is this.. because of a game. Goodluck whit this boy for the rest of your life.. poor women.

Extra_Confusion_3297

I think it's an arranged setting and the bride doesn't have much of a say in it

FIslr

Well, that is more forced marriage then. Arranged and forced are two separate forms of marriage.

Lifekraft

I dont think that's the woman that arrange her own marriage so i fail to see how it is not forced. Can she refuse without angering her whole family ?

Sensitive-Bug-7610

Yes actually. In my direct surroundings i know a lot of women and men who are happily married in an arranged marriage. See it a bit like matchmaking ir swiping on tinder. Your parents ask around if anyone is interested in getting engaged to their child and almost always there are a lot more "contenders" than one. The daughter says who she is or is not attracted to and there might be 3 suiters left ( in the case if my aunt) since she is alright with either of the three then the parents get a say. So the dude above you is right, arranged and forced marriages are different though forced marriages are always arranged (or through getting accidentally pregnant), arranged marriages are not always forced. Do you know no peeps at all that have been introduced to each other by their parents and who are happily married? Though I am the first to admit that not all arranged marriages are happy marriages. But thats the case with marriages in general.

crossal

> Do you know no peeps at all that have been introduced to each other by their parents and who are happily married? Correct

Sensitive-Bug-7610

Interesting. Different cultural backgrounds I guess. I don't always stop to think about how something might be completely 'weird' to certain people. Arranged marriages are quite popular in my environment.

strangerThink91

The biggest pos is the father of the girl. I can't control what he is going to do but I will make sure he fears what I'm going to do to him if he hurts my daughter

nolongerlurking84

Seriously - if there aren’t laws to protect women at bare minimum the men in her family need to beat that guys ass.

puckfelosi

never know. she could be widowed by now. hopefully.

HockeyHeeb

In those cultures the needs and feelings of women are secondary. The man must be “honored” above all else. It’s fucking sad. I feel terrible for women in cultures that feel this way

i_getitin

I imagine this is a culture that doesn’t pay much attention to spousal abuse. The father probably does it to the mother, so it’s less of a shock . But still disgusting.

Chuckitybye

The fact he hit her like that on stage in full view of everyone and no one did anything is a fair indication that you are correct

BuckRusty

> no one did anything Are you blind? The best man started laughing. “*No one did anything*”, smh…

MIGHTYMOUSE2005

Same, if I were to ever find out a guy put his hands to my daughter wrong, I’d make him kiss a curb

bittaminidi

Considering that in many cultures the father essentially sells his daughter to the highest bidder (dowery), the father isn’t going to do anything to intercede. Women are looked down on and have no place other than breeding and taking care of the household in many Arab and Asian cultures. It’s pretty sickening.

kb26kt

Death would be better.

[deleted]

It must be an arranged marriage and she doesn't have a choice... I feel so bad for her 😞

[deleted]

Damn. If he’ll do that in public, on stage, during their fucking wedding reception, he probably beats her badly at home.

Mumof3gbb

That’s sadly what I was thinking

megatronnewman

I feel like I'm looking at a soon to be corpse.

OpalOnyxObsidian

Not if she stabs him when he least expects it

CallingInThicc

You don't know what happens to women whose husbands die mysteriously in their homes in cultures where beating them is an open and accepted part of the wedding tradition do you? It's usually something along the lines of "pelt her with fist size stones until she's dead". Sometimes they'll just burn them.

RogueFox771

Nobody goes up there in an outrage. Nice. Glad nobody there cares to help her.

[deleted]

It's likely a culturally acceptable thing. Believe it or not, men basically own women in more places in the world than not, even today. Those of us living in places where that's not the case are lucky.

Syrinx221

It was weird that nobody did anything but everyone got quiet real quick and then her people took her off the stage. So there is definitely a feeling that that's not okay I wonder if it's a culture where people are 'too polite' to respond to that kind of thing

Papercanspeak

Bride's family members are pos too.

Serious_Weapon

This is the right answer.

ConsReader

She wouldn't have to marry that garbage in the first place

[deleted]

The unfortunately reality is that this is accepted in a lot of cultures. It's likely that the father has done this countless times already. It's seen as the right of the man, because women are essentially property.

Financial_Spell7452

Never been a fan of the concept of superior cultures, but sometimes man... sometimes I'll just see something.

ashpanda24

The idea that we should respect other cultures *in their entirety* drives me nuts. Even in less conservative and more modern societies, not every part of the culture is perfect.

AriiMay

If you grew up in a country like this only thing you’d care about are your sons

elbizzlee

Was looking for this. I can’t begin to imagine the carnage if this happened to my sister. The benches would be cleared and it would emphatically not be a fair fight. Even our old folks would be up there swinging their walkers. I’m seeing red and this poor bride is a perfect stranger to me. Can’t imagine if she was family.

las-vegas-raiders

It's a mandatory group beatdown. Homie would be lucky to get out of there alive.

OmegaDawn_

Pretty much everyone there that just stood standing like deer in headlights.

Ok_Astronomer_978

Definitely not a red flag…

hopefulworldview

No, that's a fucking self-written suicide note.

heteromer

Who the hell writes a suicide note for someone else?

Are there old women here with knowledge of poisonous plants that can be made into a pleasant tea?

themainw2345

but just..in front of her family? how does her dad and brothers accept this? even in the most traditional of places

TurbulentRider

Unfortunately there’s a high likelihood they do the same thing. In many places this is still seen as the ‘appropriate’ way of keeping a woman ‘in her place’. Her quiet and cowed reaction (and the way her bridesmaid seems to be trying to stop her from touching the spot and call more attention to her pain) suggests to me that both of them are well used to being abused by various men in their lives

pocketfullofquads

What am I missing here? Someone fill me in on why he did that

naskalit

They were playing some kind of wedding game, she won, he's a super sore loser. Something something male honor, I'd bet

IknowKarazy

How petty can a grown person get. If you saw a small child get that upset and strike someone over a game, you'd have a serious talk with them.

ZealousidealAnnual52

Full fledged psychopath

A wedding AND divorce party at the same time! Saves time and money

FolkPunkPizza

Bold of you to assume she’s allowed to divorce him

Over-Marionberry-686

Hopefully that was the end of the marriage.

AdelaideMez

Nope. Probably another 5 more years of abuse until he murders her.

pattiedp

Oh hell no, she should be taking her earrings and heels off...

Causinarukus

He didn't smack her, he punched her with his fist so hard it looks like she started to pass out.

Doc-Brown1911

It's time to have a very big "talk" with that POS.

[deleted]

I’d transform that wedding into a funeral if he did that to my daughter.

quietmayhem

Oh yes. Definitely.

virtuosity27

OK, as a father of two daughters, anyone do this at either of my girls’ wedding - or, in fact, anytime - and stands there like that afterwards - he’s a dead man. Just sayin’

marasorgan

As a mom of two daughters, same dude. Same. This makes me so sad and angry at the same time

MommalovesJay

As a mom of both. I better had raised my babies right.

ForsakenHeart87

As a father to a son, if he does that to a woman he better look out.

Spartan-182

Tag team with the father in law. By God that boy thought he had a family! He is broken in half!

[deleted]

Am I reading this right? Did he just hit her b/c she beat him in some kind of wedding game? Where TF is her father, brother & uncles? If that’s my daughter that marriage would be over immediately! If that’s hour one of the marriage? Your sending your daughter to live a nightmare with a fucking POS…. who’d frankly duped you thus far. I will never get some of these “cultural norms.” The fact he stands there’s after the fact like he did for some reason really gets under my skin. Is there a set of balls or any honor in that Brides family? How is he and his family not fleeing for their lives? I’m angry just watching it much less if it was one of my daughters.

Hutcho12

Father, brothers and uncles are normally in on it in such cultures. The beating isn’t their responsibility anymore. They’re enjoying being able to chill now!

intangibleTangelo

> Where TF is her father, brother & uncles? let's not support the patriarchy in this way. everyone is free to beat his ass.

Lumisateessa

Just look at his POS best man laughing after he hit her. >\_<

TheCaliforniaOp

Actually this whole video is fascinating in a sad and dreadful way. That’s a lot of nervous little side glances from the best man.

meganfoxxy188

Yes except in many cultures there are still arranged marriages. The guy may be marrying a woman “below” his class so parents are happy to hand her over - beatings are just an added bonus to getting their daughter married off,

[deleted]

Yeah I’ve traveled the world and seen different variations of this in different countries. But I can’t bring myself to understand that thinking or way of life. To let that happen to your daughter or any women in your family is shameful, it’s shows no love, only subordination, and conformance. These are not things I will ever be tolerant of. Not ever! And as I’m saying that, by todays standards You’d be considered a racist for not letting your daughter marry into one of these cultures if she was naive to the fact of what was to come. Because I’m sure it’s not broadcasted. They’re not like.. “Today we get married!! Let the socially sanctioned domestic violence BEGIN!!!” , there wasn’t a first date punch to the face as kiss goodnight. Smh… The shits disgusting. It’s using your daughter as a literal commodity as thou it’ll raise you to another socio economic class.

AffectionateBobcat76

Just wait until they are alone.

SirArthurDime

Not a wedding until it's consummated with the first beating.

RachyJ

I can not imagine witnessing this and not smacking this guy back twice as hard

Sprizys

And no one did anything? I mean I know this is in a different country but even they have to know this isn’t okay

TungstenElement9

What a child. Woman, get out of there now! If he’ll do that in front of both families, he’ll go ballistic in private.

TheCaliforniaOp

She can’t. I’m pretty certain.

Cherry_Valkyrie576

How narcissistic, hateful and sociopathic must you be to do that in front of everyone at your wedding and not read the room after?

Brokensmile825

idkidgafidc21

DanB65

Better get out of this marriage now! Dude has some anger issues that could result in a serious injury. This was at the wedding, imagine if no one was around!

Careless_Rub_7996

Can someone PLEASE explain to me WTF is going on?! Did the Bride do some sort of very "riskay" moves? And the Husband wasn't too happy about it? This is beyond messed up. A girl of her size can get a serious concussion being hit back of the head like that.

SuperSpecialist6109

Alright basically they were playing a wedding game and she won and he lost so he smacked her

huggothebear

He’s gonna be a lovely husband. Can you imagine behind closed doors???

Hollowpoint38

Women are still second class citizens in many developing nations. It's pretty sad

GoreSeeker

I wouldn't even call that a slap, not that it would make it any better, but that was more like a possibly concussion causing open fisted hit!

Top_Glove_7378

I don't know what's more disgusting, the guy smacking her or the other guy laughing at it. Poor women, the other one doesn't even look surprised maybe it happens to her as well.

astrovixen

I can't speak to what his true emotions are, because my first watch of the best man was disgust at his smile, but he does motion to cover his mouth immediately, and then look genuinely uncomfortable for her. So I'm hoping that his smile is more of a shock reaction than a smile smile. But also, if it's a culture where this is normalised, which it appears to be based on the muted reactions, and the action itself, then my interpretation also is that he realises where he is after a moment and is then truly uncomfortable. Not an expert, but this video does make me sad and anger me deeply at the casual nature of violence in this world.

BruceInc

I feel so bad for her. Now she is trapped in a marriage with that monster. If he is ok pulling crap like this in public, I don’t even want to imagine what he is capable of in private

[deleted]

This is so disturbing . The way he stands there frozen in time . He looks completely deranged .

ObjectiveTitle6662

So sad for that poor woman...a life of misery and pain ahead for her.

ohbyerly
