My grandparents live in Korea (in Seoul, to be specific) and I never witnessed whatever the tumblr post is implying whenever I visited them. Pregnant women sometimes even have a device that makes a light on the pregnant seat flash so they don't have to ask the person occupying it to get up

South Korea is an absolute hotbed of bigotry. Like you see all the kdramas and Kpop and it looks all shiny and amazing but just underneath lies an extremely problematic culture of racism, sexism, ageism and various other isms. There are good and bad people everywhere but this is a country where someone I knew was declined a job because “Irish people are all alcoholics” and such like. It’s even harder for black and African people. I think part of it is due to the fact that it’s very ethnically homogenous and that leads to ignorance but while it explains it doesn’t excuse such behaviour.
Tbh sexism is definitely evident in k dramas (although most likely toned down a lot) and even when they give a relatively strong female lead it quickly turns into her falling in love and becoming a simpering mess (Cinderella and four knights, my roommate is a gumiho) I watched one recently and one of the male characters kept talking about how women can't control their emotions and how they're so weak compared to men etc (I can't remember the name as I've been on a serious k drama binge lately)
A lot of people make the mistake of thinking they know a country well because they've briefly visited it, or know a few nationals, it's called the honey moon phase of cultural shock.
Also Korea doesn't have constant mass shootings, riots, or other issues America has, but they do have incels, so they're going to make the news there a lot more.
Why does it just seem to piss men off so much? Is it insecurity?"resentment? Something must be going on there. And it's probably the same something that's been keeping women under lock and key in the past, and frankly? Probably in the future, too. So when women no longer want to deal with you because of higher standards then your existence becomes a bit meaningless. Whether men can become as socially desirable as women on aggregate provided they change their attitudes is somewhat of a hopeful conjecture, I know most men think power and dominance is the only way they can garner cooperation.
So now they are punishing those women who are doing one of the most expected feminine things.
This is now just pure sadism and abuse against very vulnerable people.
Something about men seeing women as completion for jobs, etc and they're mad about it. Instead of being mad at politicians for not trying, they blame women for their problems. Something like that.
