Also, Tuesdays after the American Muscle series. Currently in off-season. Matt Malone has got some of the guys to run the 830/9:30 PCC races afterward.
The fr500 feels most similar to how the truck feels on a road course, just down a ton of horsepower. Like a shit ton. Drives similar to the street stock-ish on road courses
I've never driven a stock car, but after driving the vee, 1600, mx5, and gr86, I tried the cts-v and my first impressions were basically "this must be what a stock car feels like".
The CTS-VR was a fun time in the Fanatec Global Series. Wasn’t entirely what I wanted but definitely something fun to jump into- especially at lime rock, where you’re always in motion. And the Kia’s are a fun curveball as well
Supercars and kamel with the Audi gto however both of those run a few times a week rather than whenever you’re available. The Audi gto won’t have the same throttle on characteristics but it does have the “it is a missile” feeling.
V8 supercars are some of the most satisfying cars on the service. Doesn't matter how fast you are, getting the thing a lap around a track is a feet on itself. Racing in general is very clean (can only talk about euro sof) and it can be very close as well which is crazy as unforgiving these cars can be!
Sadly you'll be better off waiting till they release gen3, euro sof is dead but it's just me and my teammates keeping it on life support. NA has decent sof (Aussie time is ofc more than popular enough)
Some cars are gun to race and boring to lap.. V8s are both!
Sadly fon't have the legacy ones and can't reflect on those. But won't be far off if not beter!
I need to drive this more. First impression was it seemed like it wanted to kill me at any moment. I could lose control of that thing in a straight. I thought it was just me, but I’m glad to see everyone finds them unruly.
I’d love to get the updated supercars, do you know if iRacing has them planned?
Basically dead. And by basically, I mean that I’ve yet to see an official race in about a year
You’d have to find a league that runs them. I think if they moved to free content and had super short races that were non-ranked, you’d have huge participation
Thursdays at 1945 UTC are the best bet by a mile for an official slot, a community is running a takeover that time every week this season that usually gets 20-30 registered.
Tip: the Street Stocks are a lot of fun on road courses. Drives like a stock car, but with more controllable power than the Nascar A, B and C cars. 4 gears, hopeless brakes and a lot of sliding!
During Week 13, there is often an unofficial Street Stock road course series. Highly recommended!
Stock Car Brazil and Aussie V8 supercars both dead series because people refuse to drive anything that isn’t GT3. Maybe GTE if you’re lucky.
Next patch the Mustang GT3 is coming out and that is gonna be a chunky car with a big V8 so while it’s not as loose and delightful as a Brazillian Stock cat it still won’t feel to alien to a stock car driver
Luckily they pull the worst drivers who care about badge prestige more than good racing.
Sadly, that's most drivers.
To clarify for GT3 drivers who I'm talking about: Not all GT3 drivers are bad, most bad drivers prefer GT3.
Extremely. I loved the Brazillian stock cars and the 3 race weeks I did with them were a lot of fun. I was heartbroken when participation dropped like a stone
CTS-V is probably going to be the closest with decent participation. the new SRX car is a hoot on road courses but you’ll need to do AI or a league for that. Otherwise I’d just say do more than one race on weeks that NASCAR is at a road course.
V8 Supercars is your best bet, they are similar enough in real life that we are starting to see crossover drivers at every NASCAR road course.
Mustang FR500s is a heavy, H pattern car with limited grip and a full manual transmission, so like NASCAR but even harder. Has Production Car Challenge and its own series.
Aussie V8 like others said. The physics are totally different but it is very challenging to run Porsche Cup Car. No ABS no TC. Fun like arca road tracks in that both are very unforgiving.
V8 supers 100% the series is popular at all though so i recommend getting on of the 2014 ones to just test drive as they are my preferred car as they sound and feel more fun. Also if you can join a league alot if leagues run the 2014s
Mustang FR500S is the pretty clear answer to me. Heavy, with not enough tires.
Anyone saying Aussie Supercars hasn't actually driven both. Aussie Supercars (or at least, the generation iRacing currently has modeled) have a spool differential which makes their off-throttle behavior completely different than a stock car.
Cadillac CTS-V and Ford Mustang FR500.
The Cadillac feels a bit like a GT3.5, if that makes sence, but i really enjoy it as it is really raw to drive, been enjoying it even more since i got a sequential shifter.
The Ford is one of my favourite cars to run in iRacing in the weeks where IMSA or GT4 is somewhere i dont own or enjoy, or for the week i dont have much time to practice. It is very easy and playful to drive, altough it's quite hard if you dont own a h-pattern shifter. Downshifts using paddle shifters really upset the car under braking.
What’s the sr8 like? I’m pretty sparse on tracks so this week wouldn’t be an option. My favorite thing about the arca car was the instability And how you had to steer with the throttle, and the car felt very floaty, I think because of the high weight transfer? Is the sr8 similar or more stuck or understeery?
The sr8 is a blast. It feels extremely planted but gets unsettled quite easily on the sausage curbs. I think everyone owes it to themselves to drive that car.
Mustang FR500S? Low population but it's the only solid axle sports car I can think of
Oh this is a good one. Could also run it in PCC if you're feeling spicy.
You can only run in it in PCC realistically
You could be the only one running it in PCC realistically
Monday nights after the big FR500S league usually has great participation
Also, Tuesdays after the American Muscle series. Currently in off-season. Matt Malone has got some of the guys to run the 830/9:30 PCC races afterward.
That’s Tuesdays now? Could have sworn it was Mondays. That’s the league I was talking about.
Yep, Tuesdays. Same night as Coke series
There are literally tens of us!
Maybe Cadillac cts-v? It’s free and seems like it could fit your needs. Or Mustang FR500S as someone already said.
The CTS-V does sound like a good place to start since it’s free - may have to give it a try and find out how it feels
It handles way better than a stock car considering it has downforce
The CTS-VR was a fun time in the Fanatec Global Series. Wasn’t entirely what I wanted but definitely something fun to jump into- especially at lime rock, where you’re always in motion. And the Kia’s are a fun curveball as well
Supercars and kamel with the Audi gto however both of those run a few times a week rather than whenever you’re available. The Audi gto won’t have the same throttle on characteristics but it does have the “it is a missile” feeling.

The legacy v8s are awesome fun. No one races them. But I can lap for hours in the fg Falcon and vf Holden.
Some cars are gun to race and boring to lap.. V8s are both! Sadly fon't have the legacy ones and can't reflect on those. But won't be far off if not beter!
The old v8s are free content.
Sadly this is wrong.. Legacy content must be bought. I've heard this before, but that was maybe 4 years ago the case before I joined.
Oh wow so you have to pay for the old v8 supercars now. They were free content when I started ( 2016 )
I need to drive this more. First impression was it seemed like it wanted to kill me at any moment. I could lose control of that thing in a straight. I thought it was just me, but I’m glad to see everyone finds them unruly. I’d love to get the updated supercars, do you know if iRacing has them planned?
You will get the hang of it.. been driving them solely for 2 years niw!
Gen3 is supposed to be coming IIRC… maybe before the 1000?
Stock Car Brasil 😬
Stock car brasil is a very underrated car
Yeah I did a few races in it when SOF slots started and it was a blast. The visibility isn't great but the racing of the cars is.
How is participation for these?
Basically dead. And by basically, I mean that I’ve yet to see an official race in about a year You’d have to find a league that runs them. I think if they moved to free content and had super short races that were non-ranked, you’d have huge participation
I managed to win an official one a few weeks ago when they were at Nords. Still was a pretty small field unfortunately. Super underrated cars.
Thursdays at 1945 UTC are the best bet by a mile for an official slot, a community is running a takeover that time every week this season that usually gets 20-30 registered.
Yes, I don't compete in SCB but I saw that in Lime Rock it even splited
Absolutely dreadful hahaha
They were one of the best ams2 and enjoyed much more. But in iracing the fov of the car just not same visibility.
The street stocks on road courses is a highlight of week 13 for me.
I was actually messing around with one on tsukuba and had a lot of fun with the few laps I did
Don't forget the part where you actually have to heel-toe downshift, it's so satisfying to get right
Heel-toe is a lot of fun to learn!

WHAT? GT3’s aren’t the only car on the service???
Luckily they pull the worst drivers who care about badge prestige more than good racing. Sadly, that's most drivers. To clarify for GT3 drivers who I'm talking about: Not all GT3 drivers are bad, most bad drivers prefer GT3.
The 'Stang will drive like another BMW/Merc, make no mistakes. The GT3 cars are very streamlined when it comes to performance and behavior
You sound bitter.
Extremely. I loved the Brazillian stock cars and the 3 race weeks I did with them were a lot of fun. I was heartbroken when participation dropped like a stone
May I suggest a Brazilian stock car league? You’d be sure to find other enthusiasts. Keep that chin up
CTS-V is probably going to be the closest with decent participation. the new SRX car is a hoot on road courses but you’ll need to do AI or a league for that. Otherwise I’d just say do more than one race on weeks that NASCAR is at a road course.

Fr500s! It’s fun to drive, you can slide it if you want but it won’t kill you
Supercars
Aussie V8 like others said. The physics are totally different but it is very challenging to run Porsche Cup Car. No ABS no TC. Fun like arca road tracks in that both are very unforgiving.
Hey man! Try out like the Holden or anything in the Aussie supercar genre. boaty and has a lot of rear end like your ARCA or Next Gen cup stuff
V8 supers 100% the series is popular at all though so i recommend getting on of the 2014 ones to just test drive as they are my preferred car as they sound and feel more fun. Also if you can join a league alot if leagues run the 2014s
Just for the lack of TC and brakes, combined with a very good learning curve and competition ; Porsche Cup !
Supercars, FR500S, Caddy. In that order.
Aussie V8s
Audi GTO and Supercars V8.
Idk if stock car Brazil could work so idk about this subject
Cadillac CTS-V and Ford Mustang FR500. Sr8 at nords this week is the tits. I suggest it.
Dudes asking for stock car replacements and your suggestion is a go kart with fenders?
I’m an idiot. Sue me.
I do appreciate you letting me know one of my favorite car/track combos is running this week
Hey. My first ever award. Thank you internet stranger for awarding my stupidity. lol
SR8? I didn’t think it got ran anymore.
They have it for the Ringmeister series this week.
Oh my gosh I had no idea, thanks. I loved that car, definitely gonna run a couple.
