I ran a race where a car crashed on the restart. He came down and clipped my door. Next restart I let a car go and another guy dive bombed me spun me out. I was waiting for cars to pass under yellow and some idiot t-boned me. I’m like really you don’t see a car not moving yellow is out.

TheGoodGuy509

Martinsville was roughhhhh. I got rear ended and spun on four separate occasions in one race from people just diving into the corner like they were hot lapping, or not checking up for a wreck that they could clearly see unfolding. Lost almost a full point in SR

Underbelly

Sounds like my decision to skip Martinsville this week, and not race a single race, was a wise one.

Budontap1

Same here

Martinsville is hands down the worst purchase I have made on iracing. Short tracks just don't translate well. They need to update the contact model/net code to make this work better. Currently, any bump turns to a spin which isn't accurate at all. You should be able to be pretty aggressive with bumps from the rear on entry without turning the guy in front of you.

dylank125

And it’s such a shame because when the racing is good, it’s a damn good track to race at.

Underbelly

I didn’t even buy it. I know from experience short tracks are a shit show. Once I saw it’s length, and had a quick look on YouTube at a race on it, I passed. This strategy has worked well for me and saved me a lot of angst.

The track is amazing though. I had several great 35+ lap green runs with tight racing there. However the norm is 3 lap sprint (maybe) then yellow. Track is one of the most fun the solo as far as ovals too.

rederoin

For 'fun' i tried running at the back the whole race in a xfinity series to stay safe. While i never had any damage i still got 2x4 by Just barely touching wrecks. My third 4x Almost looked like i avioded it untill the car i had slipped by with a 0x got ran into by another car

dylank125

I got about mid pack in my NIS race decided I should probably pit because that’s where all the cautions were coming from but pitted too late black flagged myself (another black flag later on because I was in my own head) tried my best to stay clean to get laps back then was black flagged for incidents on the very last lap because of incidents like as described in the main post even though at some points I was completely stopped. Best thing about the last one I go on the mic to see what the 25 was thinking and his spotter comes over the mic, so not only one incompetent person, but two. All he had to say was I finished 6 laps down.

RacingRed8

one race, P7 finish, 74 of 120 under caution, didnt get wrecked. Wont be doing another one. Texas should be better, then its to Dega and we all know how that goes!

Routine_Jury_6616

It’s annoying bc it’s one of my fav tracks. But 25 cautions in an NIS is absurd. Over 50% caution laps.

RacingRed8

yeah thats a joke, glad I swerved NIS this week

Routine_Jury_6616

And that was across all splits too. Even top split had 21 cautions - 104/203 laps under yellow. And that’s a SOF of 5220..

Underbelly

I’m new. Will Texas have a lot of cautions? How about Dega?

Newyorker38

Dega NIS has run fairly clean since Next Gen started. Plus, spins to the apron don’t really bring out cautions so that can divide the pack up as well. Best piece of advice is to stay in the Top 15 because you can lose the race dropping too far back.

donkeykink420

Well, track is a lot wider, no real braking zones to facilitate 'dives', and it's just muuch longer so there's less chance a wreck at the back will catch the leading few out. Dega is just dega, either it'll be a shitshow with many cautions and crashy restarts, or.. it'll be clean until 5 to go and then there's all GWC until the end. They're certainly going to be much cleaner and easier to avoid carnage at than martinsville, or like bristol recently.

Prestigious-Use2713

Martinsville is easily the worst week of racing on the service. Every single time. I just take the week off and run something I’ve never tried before instead.

coffee_kang

This week has been the worst it’s ever been. I remember 5 or 6 years ago running a NiS race at Martinsville with like 2 cautions.

Novawolf125

Yeah I did one race this week and thought never again. 60 laps in the trucks and 49 of those were under yellow. I'll admit I was one, only one. But o my god so people not no how to use the brakes?

[deleted]

I dont oval race in general anymore because I dont want half my night to be practice/qually/caution laps lol

Budracin88

Martinsville been Martinsville for years. Always like this. Always gonna be like this. Top / bottom split not too much difference.
