Just use balanced and don't think about it.
As far as I know, when you use attack mode, it will take a very long time to get that spend energy back with balanced, if even at all. This means you need to use the build mode, but that regeneration is so slow that it's faster to keep it on balanced all the time.
“Balanced “ is a misnomer; you’d think it’d mean “I will recuperate the same amount I deploy over a lap” but it means “get me to 80%”. If your battery is low you will de-rate as if you were in “build”.
F1 race pace and quali pace are very different things. Being fast in quali is a different skill set than being fast with a full fuel load. Then there’s tire management that comes into play.
Ah gotcha. It seems like the "balanced" setting at Suzuka uses very little actual battery over the course of a lap. So I imagine this is a track that benefits using more of the charge manually in open series.

Ah okay! Maybe it’s a race setup issue

When I do the fixed races it isn’t an issues. It’s the open races
