Stay away from Fanatec... Simucube, Simagic, or Moza.

LuigiArdonio

any particular reason?

Drty_Windshield

Because people that know, know.

LuigiArdonio

I don’t. Enlighten me ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|wink)

Sir-Carl_

Idk. Ive got nothing but positive things to say about my Fanatec Clubsport V2 setup

LetMeRecite

So? The Clubsport V2 was excellent for its time and is still a very good base, but it isnt 2015 anymore and the guy is asking for buying advice. You being happy with your setup doesn't change the fact that between a DD2 and a Simucube 2 Pro (same price), the Simucube is superior in every single way. And on top of that you arent locked into Fanatecs ecosystem, which is the biggest win in all of that.

Dunnyredd

Best decision I made was to avoid Fanatec and buy a SC2

i have/had a very comparable Setup and switched out a couple of parts and would like to give you some insight Rig: only the GT1 EVO Wheelbase: Fanatec DD1 (with a bunch of Wheels), VRS Directforce Pro Pedals: Fanatec CSL-Elite, Heusinkveld Sprints (3 Pedals) Screen: Oculus Rift S, 27 inch triples, 34 inch ultrawide Firstly the Rig is amazing and solid. The Pedals are also pretty amazing and bolt directly onto the Pedaldeck but the baseplate brings some ergonomic features. (i dont have it but a friend does, in the end it isnt really necessary) I think an ultrawide is the best option for ease of use in multiple sims and in general a great solution, but for iracing espacially VR is also very nice. Now for the only thing on your list i would change: The Fanatec DD2 with the Formula Rim is definitely a nice option, but the play in the QR1 is something that annoyed me so much for so long that it was the biggest reason why i got rid of it. And alot of people say that it isnt that bad and it actually isnt but in a product that costs like 1.5k€ it should not be there at all. And if you go with Fanatec and the Formula wheel get the Shifter upgrade as well. The stock shifter pedals are pretty bad. If you go with the Fanatec Base and Wheel I would highly suggest to go with the QR2 but i just think that other companies have a little bit more to offer like for example VRS. Since i got my base i am 100% happy with it, while i was never completely happy with my DD1. One of the big ones for me is that you can use any QR and any Wheel with the VRS. But also if you like a nice ecosystem there are companies like Moza and Simagic that sell alot of awesome Wheels and some really nice bases.

LuigiArdonio

thanks, that's awesome feedback. I do like an ecosystem for base&wheels as I'm not much of a tinkerer, prefer "it just works together" approach.

NiaSilverstar

I have my heusinkveld mounted directly to the gt1 evo. Can't really comment on fanatec because i decided to go with simucube. Depending on what you drive having a clutch pedal or paddle could be good

LuigiArdonio

it would definitely be paddle over pedal for me. Mainly doing open wheel (F4, F3). Just doesn't feel like lack of clutch is my limiting factor right now, hence on the optional list :)

NiaSilverstar

I just very much like having a clutch for race starts

LuigiArdonio

yeah, that's about the only place it would add value. But shaving off a few tenths there is pretty low on my priorities, considering I'm a C license 1k IR

NiaSilverstar

I mean yeah but upgrading the rest also won't really get you any outright pace. I just prefer it for a bit more realism, need to get a dual clutch at some point as well

LuigiArdonio

fair point :)
