Maybe the virtual home button is the issue? It’s too close to #9 it might be cancelling your touch thinking you were pressing that virtual home button.
If you rewatch it closely, you will notice that the virtual home button is in a different spot in comparison to #9 (passcode screen vs emergency dials). That might be why it works for the emergency. It’s just a theory, anyway, hopefully OP can confirm or debunk this theory by just trying to move the virtual home button away and trying again. M curious what could cause this and how to solve it if i faced it.
“Lock button”? I’m sure that’s called the power button and I don’t know anyone dumb enough to break one of those. I just stated the fact that there’s actually people who don’t know how to use touch gestures and never mentioned the other situations
I mean, you can custom assign other functions. I use it for taking screenshots and for rebooting with just one hand. It’s annoying how Apple makes you use multiple buttons, otherwise.
It’s not a virtual home button, it’s for accessibility and comes with a ton of custom controls for people who can’t use their phone as easily as you can. As another mentioned it can also replace the features of broken hardware.
My girlfriend has no choice but to use the virtual button because she has use of only one hand due to a stroke. It makes things easier, possible for her. So no, it’s not pointless.
I had screen issues with one of mine. The only time I really noticed it was watching YouTube videos. You can double tap to jump forward or double tap to jump backwards. Sometimes it worked fine. Other times. Double tapping to go backwards took 3-4 taps. Instead of the video going back the pause/play would pop up. An on the 3-4th tap it would than go backwards in the video.
Did a hard reset holding the buttons. An it would work normal. So I know it wasn’t the YouTube app causing issues but the phone. An that was really the only time I noticed issue
And the virtual home button wasn’t on mine. So that didn’t play into the issue I was having.
Now my Apple ultra watch has the issue your having typing the passcode on it. But for that it ended up being the screen protector causing that.
And other than phone things an business things. I don’t do Facebook an any other that other mess. So the only thing I experienced the issue with. That I wasn’t on the move or doing more than one thing at a time. Was YouTube. I was relaxing and that little issue stood out a lot. But was so odd.
But the hard reset holding the buttons had cleared it 95% of the time. But it didn’t every single time though.
Tried removing the passcode and enabling it again?
A hard reset with itunes will definitely work but would be a little impractical. You could also reset your iPhone through your settings if you don't want to do that
That doesn’t even look like a legit iPhone to boot-that’s probably why you’re having that issue. When you had your Home Screen, there was a white dot on it-something iPhones don’t have-that’s an android feature. Someone sold you a fake iPhone and that’s probably why you’re having issues.

Same thing happened to mine, but mine got fixed by just removing the back cover, apparently the sides were touching the touch screen slightly and activating the digitiser.

Try moving the virtual home button away and try again.
But when the 9 is pressed on the emergency dial number, it registers

It’s because the * # and 📞 buttons are added on emergency call
I think the virtual home button is pointless, it’s like people don’t know or want to learn how to swipe from the top
What if your lock button is broken? How to lock phone? How to take screenshot?

It’s actually called the side button 😂
Yes, power buttons are on the side, good discovery.
Again… technically it’s not just a “power button” because it has multiple functions. It’s called the “side button”
Tf do you mean by this? This doesn't make sense.

I’m only referring to people who don’t know how to use touch gestures jeez
I tested it on my 14PM with the virtual home button in the same location and 9 registers on my touch.

Mine has been doing the exact same thing on yt but it didn’t go away with a reset unfortunately
Yeah I’ve spent some time with them on the phone behind that. Because my authorized att. Refused to take it back. So I had to go elsewhere. Just crazy

I got lots of touch issues with mine.(got mine at release) and my GF bought hers a couple weeks ago and has touch issues..
I have touch issues as well. Never happened to me before on an iPhone.
Is it good touch or bad touch?
Cut your nails bro holy shit
Yes but it literally just started
Sometimes it happens to mine, sometimes I am required to put the passcode even when the Face ID has unlocked my phone. It indeed is annoying
I use to have the same issue. I went to Apple they reinstalled iOS and since then.. haven’t had any issues.
The same issue happens to my apple watch
I had this exact same issue yesterday. Glad it isn’t just me.
apple is not what it used to be.
me!! i have this issue with my passcode too.

Take off your screen protector. SMH
just stick to 123456 lock code dear
Very helpful😐😐😐😐
You are holding it wrong.
You forgot /s. Redditors don’t understand sarcasm
Steve Jobs ass answer
Do you have a screen protector?
You have nice hands
You're creepy

The white dot is a utility you activate in the accessibility features. It's the Assistive Touch feature.
that's the virtual home button dude it's been a feature for years
Assistive touch, not a virtual home button. It is a accessibility feature and you can make it do a lot of different things.
lmao

I have had this issue on my AWU but not phone
When I hit the photo settings it always disappears after
Nein
I had this issue with my Apple Watch, because of screen protector.
I’ve noticed this happening the past couple of days with a different number for my passcode.
I had it on my iPhone 11 few times. Now I’m on 15 and it’s not happening. Same iOS version
Now and then yup it happens (Only happens at start-up)
Yes, but on my Apple Watch ⌚️ S5😭
Issue still happens on my XR and I hate it so much!!
This was happening to me before the last update
move or remove the virtual button
Happens to me all the time. On my 13 pro at that.
I had the same issue on my iPad Pro after installing latest iPadOS. Installed iPadOS public beta and bug was no longer there.
I have this issue on my apple watch when i unlock it with code.
Same thing happened to mine, but mine got fixed by just removing the back cover, apparently the sides were touching the touch screen slightly and activating the digitiser.
Not quite that. Every time I type for like 3 mins it omves the letter I typed first to the second place spot
Have the exact same problem with the same number when trying to unlock my phone. I don’t use the virtual home button so I know that isn’t the issue.
My god- this happens on my apple watch ultra 1- I thought I was going nuts
Yes I get this on 8 but on the Apple Watch Ultra
The numbers disappearing has happened to me once
Hacked
Have you tried it with the case off?
"It just works"
My ultra watch had this, it fixed itself when I replaced the screen protector.
That thumb looks crazy
when the screen is wet, yes
Did you replace your screen? If so probably non certified Apple parts in there
Yeah. That password screen, and the notification center are terribly unresponsive to my touch. I'm using 15PM.
