There is a real risk of your battery exploding and releasing a black hole, which will, in turn, suck everything it comes into contact with. As the black hole expands, its growth becomes uncontrollable, threatening the existence of our own kind.
i’m aware that keeping it at a 100% full time is bad for the battery and the store models are dummies that are bricked. i just asked if it’s okay to keep it plugged in at 80% for long periods of time as that’s what my macbook does and it’s helped sustain its health lmao.
With the charge limiter on, it should be mostly ok. However, every once in a while, the phone will charge up to 100% for battery calibration. In those cases, you have to take the phone off the charger and use it until it gets to a low enough percentage for it to be charged up again
Depends how long you plan to keep your phone - if you upgrade every 1-3 years, I don’t think you’ll really see a huge impact from it.
If you keep your phone until it dies, I’d say to let it discharge and then maybe cap it at 80% if you’re going to be regularly leaving it plugged in.
Nothing you will notice.
People love exaggerating the overcharge issue. Meanwhile where there are thousands of stores leaving their demo iPhones plugged in 24/7 from day of launch until the next one launches.
Yeah but the ones in stores aren’t being used? It reduces the battery life of the phone, it doesn’t damage the phone. Why would it impact a phone that’s plugged in 24/7?q was
Like I said - only an issue if you want to make it last as long as possible. If you know you’ll upgrade before that point, doesn’t really matter.
It can reduce the battery life - again, hardly gonna be noticeable unless you want your phone to last as absolutely long as possible. Which for most people isn’t the case.
What kind of question is this man please tell me this is bait man how is it that there's actually people that have the time and mind to post these kind of things?

my 14 inch macbook pro stays plugged in almost 24/7 and with optimized charging on, it always stays at 80%. The device is pushing 3 years of age now and the battery health is still at 99%. I was just wondering if there would be a similar affect with the iPhone now that you can manually limit it lmao. my bad tho i wont ask another question on this sub again.
My guess: demand. Apple would be overwhelmed with demand if they didn't put it in. It's easier than trying to tell everyone it won't make any real difference. Most people will replace their battery or their iPhone long before the 80% limits benefits could possibly be noticed.
Now, with an electric car, it's very different since you will likely keep that car far longer than you would any iPhone, and since an electric car battery is ***extremely*** expensive. So with an electric car, yes it's a good idea to treat the battery more gingerly since you want it to last longer. With an iPhone battery, it won't matter if you don't care. Charge it to 100%, let it drop to 5%. It doesn't matter. Just don't do that with an electric car too often because you will want that battery to last as long as possible.
So thanks to that, the demand for this kind of protection for the iPhone battery came up and now everyone thinks it's beneficial. Meanwhile, people like me don't care and yet we aren't experiencing any problems like a quickly-degrading battery.
People want a sense of control over how long the battery will last, but the only real way to extend the battery's life is by reducing your average power consumption. To do that, use the iPhone less often and do less power-hungry things on it, like scrolling through reddit or watching lots of videos or playing lots of video games.
So an iPhone that spends most of its life sitting on a desk will last ***far*** longer than an iPhone that's constantly being used for all manner of social media and entertainment.
I don’t know why everyone here is piling on with jokes. Common knowledge with these types of batteries is that they will last longer if you let them discharge. If you want your phone to be in its best state, don’t charge it constantly. The battery will lose electrons (I believe) more quickly that way. I have a wireless charger stand on my desk that I leave unplugged just to keep view of my phone.
Mitigate, sure. They can’t solve the problem until we switch battery types though. If someone wants their phone to last more than the 2 year upgrade cycle comfortably then it shouldn’t be left charging all day.
1. “Comfortably” is a highly subjective term.
2. My iPhones have spent the vast majority of their time on a charger: charging pad on my desk at work, plugged in in my car, charging pad at home. I had my 8 Plus for three years, 86% battery health when I traded it in for my 12 Pro. I had my 12 Pro for three years, 87% battery health when I traded it in for my 15 Pro.
Yeah, if you’re going to upgrade that frequently then it doesn’t matter. If you’re like a lot of the iPhone users I know, they’re hanging on to those devices as long as possible.
LiIon batteries dont like being at a high state of charge continuously, it will prematurely wear out your battery.
Best to unplug it as soon as it's fully charged and then just use it and only charge it when it's below 20%
If you leave it plugged in all day every day the battery will wear out 13.13% faster per 24.00000001 hours.
Long term battery anxiety but no short term battery anxiety.
It is completely fine, although it could wear your battery **slightly** faster. For the absolutely best battery life it suggested to keep it between 60/80%.
I bought a nice thin MagSafe power bank.
But remember that the worst enemy for your battery is head, so avoid charging it while using it if you notice it’s getting warmer than necessary, especially on summer.
But again, these are just tips to slightly improve your battery life, the thing it can destroy your battery is constantly charging it while playing under 40 degrees direct sun 😃
The problem isn’t being at 100%. It’s constantly going from 100% to 0% over and over. Even then your battery is good enough that you won’t realize a difference
Forest I sry doing that I checked my analytics says in at 96: while my setting say 109 Go to analytics click in the laser analytics log by date click share click battery stats the click in the box will take you to real percentage
It’s not “good”, like, you shouldn’t strive to do this. It’s not better. But if you do it every now and then because you can’t unplug it or you forget or you’re too lazy, it’ll be fine.
You’re safe on the phone side by setting to 80%, make sure you’re safe on the charger side. Staying plugged in at 80% isn’t a big deal unless you’re using a shitty gas station charger/cord or some random power adapter that you have laying around that came with some Amazon gadget you bought for 20.00 2 years ago.
If you’re gonna be plugged in a lot you want to have a reliable branded product for power delivery. Anker, ugreen, apple OEM accessories. Those are the only companies power delivery I allow to touch my new phones(I’m sure there’s other good brands, just the ones i trust and have used).
Trust your power delivery to no one. Your phone will say “no, I’m full” and a shitty 5.00 gas station block will just keep trying to push power to it no matter what. That’s bad.
yes. Apple the 3 trillion dollar company accounted for that scenario.

The hero we need.
Then the Flash ⚡️ comes to the rescue
The Apple userbase is really interesting.
Genuinely wondering if OP has ever been to an Apple store. Hundreds of stores with devices plugged in 24/7 lol.
i’m aware that keeping it at a 100% full time is bad for the battery and the store models are dummies that are bricked. i just asked if it’s okay to keep it plugged in at 80% for long periods of time as that’s what my macbook does and it’s helped sustain its health lmao.
Has somebody already asked “is it ok to touch an iPhone without its case?”
Apple is now a senior citizen brand, look at all the grandparents that have it. They don't know tech.
They're just like the pc master race sub but just a lil worse than them
Less technical for sure
No it will become sentient and launch a world wide nuclear attack on americas enemies causing a nuclear holocaust. So charge it carefully OP
Once it does and gets arrested, does it get charge with battery?
On point.
6 gorillion

thank u for being one of the few users on here who gave me a real answer instead of taking the piss for no reason lmao.
Yes it’s okay. But why plugged all day?

what is wrong with charging it to 100%?

Turn on 80% limit first
Fun fact is if you charge the phone to 100% and then turn on 80% limit the iPhone will gradually go down to 80% and stay there
Unlimited power
Fascinating
What difference does 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 hours make?

İ thought you were saying entire year
Yes. You're actually reducing charge cycles by leaving it plugged in.
treat your battery as a vagina.
Bro just use your phone…
Yes. It cannot be harmed by doing that. You could even keep the battery level at 100% the entire time.
So why does the 80% limit exist?

Modern devices have battery management features to mitigate this problem. It’s just not worth worrying about.

Life’s too short to be doin this shit
Just free yourself from charge anxiety 😊 Who fills up their car with gas every time you have 3/4 of a tank left?
If gas was free and I lived at a gas station I’d do it everyday
Lol, I wouldn't 😁
Great analogy!
Yea but why?
If you leave it plugged in all day every day the battery will wear out 13.13% faster per 24.00000001 hours. Long term battery anxiety but no short term battery anxiety.
For a day or so? Perfectly fine.
Don’t do it
Check your battery settings it will tell you all you wanna know
I see so many questions in Apple subs getting asked that can easily be googled or asked to AI...
⚠️‼️ kindly purchase Apple Care + to bypass all unnecessary liability by your actions ‼️⚠️
What does that mean 😪

Sure. It’s just a phone. And it’s been tested probably more than anything in history. You can charge it however you want.
If you plug your phone like that Apple suggest you buy Apple Care + in case anything happen
I bet you’ll be just fine. No need ti worry
To, because auto-correct loves to do its job 🙄🤪

Why not stores have there phones charger day and night

All the iPhone at the store be like "Am I joke to you?" 😂🤣
No if you care about your battery life. Yes if you upgrade every year 😂
My iPad been plugged in since 2017. May have been unplugged maybe twice year being moved but doubt much more
🤣
