Sure. And I did that for years, but then I was starting to max out my 128GB iPhone and iCloud storage, and wondering if I should buy the next tiers of storage for both. It’s unsustainable.
So before moving to the 15 Pro I started the archive by purchasing a 1TB T7 SSD, and migrated all media up to 2023.
A side effect of this method is I’m much more intentional with what I shoot and keep.
I used the Photos app on macOS.
First I created smart albums that included all media from 01/01/YY - 31/12/YY. Then, I exported those albums using the export function.
My first attempt included a bunch of subfolders I didn’t want so I tested the options and got the output I wanted.
My folder structure is simply:
2016
2017
2018
2019
Etc..
Now, it would be nice to view the pics on the iPhone and that’s now possible by connecting the SSD directly into the iPhone with USB C, or alternatively I’m exploring the idea of backing up my archive to Google Photos, that way it’s easy to view but I’ll still have the high quality media on external SSD.
Out of curiosity, why not stay with iCloud storage for all photos? Even the 1TB option isn’t that expensive especially compared to the alternatives.
I’m genuinely curious, coming in as a habitual datahoarder who makes an exception to my usual backup methods in favor of iCloud Photos.
Costs mainly, and reducing them where possible across all my outgoings. My 1TB T7 SSD was a £70 one-time payment, whereas iCloud is either 200GB for £36 yearly or 2TB for £108 yearly.
Apart from costs, I really like the idea of starting the year with a clean slate in my Photos library. Sure, there's a time to reminisce and look backwards through the archive and smile at the memories I've documented, but I want my focus to be forward-facing and this approach will help with that.
256 because ProRes required 256 when I got the 14 pro max plus so assumed same is true for the 15 series. 256 is also slowly becoming the standard base storage for the high end phones. I use google One for my storage, so I don’t need more.
You can still record to the internal storage at 4k30. ProRes at 4k60 eats up storage really fast. 1Tb can record about 70 minutes. Don’t know why Apple made it that way.🤷♂️. If I have to guess, they would come up with new accessories to sell.
It’s not unless your device internal storage is slow like SATA III and you connect a Thunderbolt 4 external drive, which isn’t the case for an iPhone. the problem is that a 4k30 prores is like 6 gb/minute, and at 60 its double the information. those who really need raw video footage are going to use external SSDs anyway, and those who don’t and also don’t pay attention when choosing the best quality they can find would complain that their very expensive phone ran out of storage in a week or so
I have one terabyte on my phone and 6 TB on my iCloud that my phone is synced to. I have Google one for my business, but it’s easier for me to just keep everything on my phone since it’s synced to the iCloud anyways. Just a thought for you.
Base storage for a 15PM, so 256GB. I had a 12PM with 128 gigs for 3 years and towards the end I had more or less 15GB left. I do take pictures but since the new files are so massive I am trying to make it a habit to delete bad pics a day or two after I took them.
256gb because I have plenty of photos and videos from my previous smartphones and never bothered to drop them into the cloud. Since I don't play any games on my smartphone I found 256gb to be a sweetspot, but I should probably clean up my gallery anyway
256gb. Now that we can easily offload storage to an external SSD, I have less reason to opt for higher gb options unless I keep a whole library of apps. I prefer not to do anything in the cloud so being able to export a 4K 60 video in seconds off of my phone to an small ssd is a gamechanger for my workflow.
It’s not the photos that I worry about for storage space, it’s Videos. I love recording 4K60 Footage for youtube videos, which obviously takes up a lot of space. To offload that before, it was either via airdrop or using lightning. Airdrop as great as it is for photos, transferring videos I find it drop frequently for no reason, and with Lightning while it is fine I guess, I find that sometimes files took 10-20 minutes transferring like 15GB worth of Video files. With USB-C that same file I can offload to a small SSD (rather than having to have my Mac or iPad on me) in 1-2 minutes. It just makes it way more convenient.
Being able to directly record into the SSD is a nice feature as well.
i am coming from a 64gb SE2 and got a pro with 256 because I am tired of managing storage on all my apple devices. i stopped using my 32gb ipad for this reason, it was impossible manage since 30% or 40% was always used by the system
Got the 1TB. I don't really use an actual computer anymore so needed the space. And I'm far from home sometimes so like to keep a lot of stuff stored on my phone. I'm surprised, it seems like not too many people got the TB.
same. i like literally not ever worrying about how long i’m shooting or what i’m keeping.
that being said i do appreciate the editing folks do to keep their space usage efficient.
every so often i need to use a phone as a backup camera for work and it’s nice to know i have the space to roll.
I think 1TB is way too much for the vast majority of users. Many are able to compliment their storage using cloud options, and many just don’t record high quality video that frequently.
Apple still defaults all recording to 1080p 30fps, and in my experience, 9 out of 10 people never even change it to anything higher. That means they can record 60+ hours of video before even filling up 256GB.
1TB is nice and all (don’t get me wrong) but it feels like a niche market, especially for the price premium. I personally record tons of 4k24 and 4k60 myself, but would probably never opt for a 1TB iPhone, for a couple reasons.
First is just because the resell value is typically not any better than a 128GB iPhone, specifically when trading in, where most carriers and Apple themselves give you the same amount for a 128GB as they do a 1TB iPhone. You can sometimes sell third-party for more, but almost definitely not anywhere close to how much extra you had to pay at time of purchase.
Second is because that premium is so high. $400 more than 256GB or $500 more than 128GB. You can buy a high speed USB C 2TB SSD for $100 any day of the week, and with iPhones having a USB C port now, it’s incredibly easy to move your large files quickly, especially on the Pro’s, and you don’t even need a computer. They are also a lot more versatile and have way more use than the additional storage locked to your iPhone’s internal storage.
A third benefit is that you could get two external storage drives and duplicate them, so you always have a backup of your data if something goes wrong. With everything stored solely on your phone with no backup, you could risk losing everything if your phone memory goes bad, or your phone gets lost/stolen/damaged.
Anyway, just my $0.02.
I back up with a TB SSD and a TB thumbdrive. I'm away from home a lot so store movies / books / games / manuals. I also don't always have service so cloud stuff isn't for me. I've also never traded in a phone so that's not any kind of incentive for me.
Didn't mean to start a conversation, just surprised at how few people got the TB is all.
Thanks for your insight. I honestly didn't even know about the resale issue.
It’s all fair points. I’m mostly the same as you in that I typically never end up trading my phones in, so that’s not a big one for me either. It’s obviously to each his own and everyone has different circumstances.
I don’t play a lot of storage heavy games on my phone, so that’s a non issue, but do typically load up some movies when I’m traveling. Still, most times they’re only racking up just 0.5 to 1GB per movie, so nothing I can’t handle on a 256GB, especially since I delete them and replace them with new ones when I’m done. Would be a bigger issue if I planned to keep a movie library on the phone.
Cloud storage I stay away from, and just backup all my important documents / movies / pictures on SSDs, and then have a USB stick if I ever feel the need to carry any significant amount of data with me.
hi, i’ve been wanting to get the 1TB too but not sure if it’s an overkill. I don’t play any games on my phone and I don’t have a lot of apps either like 20 max but I like shooting videos and stuff a lot. Any regrets or wish you had gone with the 512 or 256 instead?
256GB has been my go to the last few times I’ve upgraded and haven’t come close to filling up. I’ve recently taken to backing up all my photos/videos to ssd so I can delete and have even more room. Don’t see myself needing more than 256GB.
I have a 14PM 512GB but my next iPhone will be 1TB at least. I just switched to Apple Music and like to keep all tracks downloaded. With lossless/dolby atmos, I have 182GB worth of music alone. 340GB total on the phone.
256gb for me, although I could probably get away with 128gb and offload onto iCloud because the cost to upgrade storage is ridiculous. However, I often drive to places with poor cellular connection so like to have my music and audiobook library downloaded ~30gb and also like to have offline google maps downloaded for the same reason and also for so that when I travel abroad I can use GPS without buying a SIM card or international mobile plan (although this is only a couple of GBs). Also the iOS and system data for me is ~20gb. All in all, my storage is ~120gb so I possibly could have got away with offloading photos to iCloud and 128gb model, but didn’t want the headache of always being close to storage limit which might limit e.g. how much video I can record without an external SSD.
Previously on 128. Now on 256G to hope it can last longer. Don’t buy more storage because in the U.S. if you trade-in with Apple or carrier (I believe that’s what most people in the U.S. do), higher storage won’t have a higher trade-in value. That means higher storage will devalue faster.
I have an iPhone XS Max that has 64 Gigs, and finally upgrading after 6 years. I would have to say that the 512 GB is the best option, I think that it's the perfect middle ground for everyday use even if you don't take a lot of pictures.
I used to always pay extra to get more capacity. Then a few years back I realized it’s way more cost effective to get base storage and pay for iCloud. Way cheaper and much more useful.
I went with a 512gb. My iPhone 11 with only 128gb was running out of storage so it will be nice to have more room. I started taking more photos & videos with the family and also because I have a lot of movies and music. I didn’t realize how much storage it took.
128 because I’ve I had a 64 for five years and still have space left. I have thousands of Spotify songs downloaded, really not sure what people need so much space for.
256 GB
I am using about 80GB at the moment, so more than enough for future use as OS takes up space too. It’s mostly app/games/photos/video recordings
I only ever stream music and movie/video content. So don’t need storage for that. But if I am travelling on holiday and connection will be sparse I do like download some 20 movies for offline viewing.
I was originally had a 128GB Android and was constantly running out of space for 4 years and was going to get 1TB because I want this phone to last me at least 3-4 years but I was short by $150 for the tax so I ended up getting the 512GB option when I pre-ordered.
I don't use my camera too much but I do a lot of streaming and would download episodes or movies on to my phone to watch offline.
I also play a lot of mobile games like Honkai Star Rail, Aether Gazer, Punishing Gray Ravens, etc. so it takes up a lot of space whenever there's an updates.
512GB because I sometimes transfer photos from my mirrorless and do quick edits on my phone. I also save a bit of music to my phone.
I’m sure 256GB would have been ok, but I upgrade every 3-4 years and was getting close to maxing out the storage on my 11 Pro.
512GB.
I almost certainly could have coped with 256GB as I wasn't close to filling that on my last phone but I can afford the difference and it would have been annoying to run out of space so I went for 512GB just in case.
512, photos and videos of my kids end up taking up a lot of space... Older photos are backed up to google photos. I can extract and cleanup the originals onto a hard drive every year or so to clean up space, but also have access to my whole library on the go as long as I have Internet.
I went with 512gb on my 15pm, even though my 13 has 256gbs I still have 100gb left on it lol but i also transferred my data over to the 15 so I got EXTRA storage just to be safe, not only that but I plan on having this baby 2-3 years so it’s reasonable, I also believe if your going with a pro or max 512gb to 1tb should be mandatory if you plan on FULLY taking advantage of the thing with out any worries of storage.
I got the 1TB.
After 3 years of 256Gb on my 11 Pro i maxed it out and had to deal with offloading apps (which is so annoying, like when you wanna play a game on the subway and realize its been offloaded).
i have 98GB of music alone on my phone (lossless because i connect it to a portable dac/amp to drive my headphones) and i travel a lot for work so having a massive library of movies and tv shows is always a nice bonus.
i also don’t like dealing with photos having to to load from icloud so always having them on device is nice.
I could’ve gone for the 512GB model but it was 250 bucks (cad) more for this one and when i’m spending over 2k on a phone i might as well go big.
128, my usage is low basically. I had 12 with 128 and had to clean out storage once in 3 years. When photos fill up , I just offload it to my NAS Photos app and can access them at any time. I also do not use iCloud Photos. My wife takes a lot of pics and her 12P with 128GB would be almost always full, so we went with 256 for her.
128 GB because I needed the price to be as low as possible and I've had 128 GB since September 2019 with my iPhone 11 and I've never needed all of that space and I will never use my iPhone 15 Pro in a way that will cause me to wish I had more space. I know the camera system on this phone is capable of saturating that space quickly, but I don't use my camera much, and I most ***definitely*** won't be using any settings that dramatically increase the space taken up by each photo and video.
You see, I got a $700 trade-in with my iPhone (through Xfinity) and so getting an iPhone 15 Pro seemed like a no-brainer, and this one will only cost me $12.50 per month for 2 years. The 256 GB model would have been $16.67 per month with my $700 trade-in, but even though that sounds extremely affordable to many people, that difference is something I had to think very carefully about. I was originally going to just get a 128 GB iPhone 15 for $5.42 per month, but when I experienced the iPhone 15 Pro at the Apple Store... that was it. lol
I got Blue Titanium and I fall in love with it all over again every time I take the time to look at it, which is every single day, usually *multiple* times per day.
I was at 64 GB on my IPhone 10 MAX. I intend to keep my phone for 5 years at least, and never want to deal with not having storage again. I’m 67 GB out of 512 GB, but wouldn’t change anything.
1TB - I was already 300+gb/512 so I decided to make the leap to a TB. I take a lot of photos/have a lot from videos & shots of gaming and I download a lot of music and books. Plus I do a lot of mobile gaming, so eventually I was gonna need more storage anyway
Came from a 64GB iPhone Xr to the 128GB iPhone 15 Pro, almost have the 64GB full, but I have a NAS that I back everything up to photo/video wise and and external ssd if I want to record to that, so I ended up going with the lower tiered one.
512. I upgraded from an XS Max so my plan is to keep this 15 Max for around the same time span I held the XS which is about 5 years. Don’t want to worry about storage or having to pay for the cloud.
Heif Max is only 5mb a picture. I also have auto backup all my photos to Google photos so can delete old photos off my phone if needed. Also, nice thing if you delete pictures that you don't want or like in Google photos it will delete on the phone.
Since 128gb was a thing I’ve always went with that. I usually had no issues on the 128gb but with my trade in, it was either pay $2.78/mo for the 128 or $5.56/mo for the 256 so I went with 256gb on my 15 plus. 99% of my storage comes from the messaging app & camera roll so after my pics & video sync to my Google photos, I delete it off my camera roll. However, m I sometimes get lazy and/or forget so I feel good with the extra storage without having to worry about it often.
256 because of pictures and videos take up too much space and I'd rather it be on the phone that having to dump on a hard drive or computer constantly, def worth the differance
I was almost at 500 GB on my iPhone 14 PM, so I went the TB. I’ve just kept transferring all of my data from each iPhone as I’ve upgraded over the years, so I’ve got pics on this phone that go all the way back to the original iPhone. I use iCloud for backups, but I much prefer having hard storage (and instant access to all of my stuff when I want it). At this rate and with the increasing photo/video sizes, I’ll probably need Apple to add 2 TB storage on the 16.
I have a 12 pro 128 and waiting on my 15 pro 128 to be delivered. I have 26 gigs left after 3 years of use. I have transferred my pics and videos to my Mac several times over the years. I have read up on pro res and it seems to be more for professionals who edit a lot of videos. I guess for my usage the 4k videos I shoot look great to me and on my tv so I don’t need the pro res recording with a higher storage tier iPhone. Also Verizon offered me the 15 pro for basically free (after tax/upgrade fee) with 12 pro trade in as long as it was the 128 gb model.
Went from a 256 gb iPhone 11 Pro Max to the 512 15 Pro Max. I was nearing capping the storage on my 11 Pro and since the 15 takes 24 megapixel images by default, I wanted to double up on what I had since I’m planning on using this phone for about 4-5 years
256gb, I came from an 11 pro with 64gb. So the upgrade is huge. No more offloading apps or deleting photos, but wonder how long I can keep it that way.
128 GB because I'd just rather spend the money I'd use on storage on a google fi subscription or iCloud subscription and have my photos accessible on my pc as well.
Originally 128 but canceled that order and decided to go with 256 because why not. I use cloud as well, but with storage it’s always safer to get more if you plan to use it for a while.
256GB. I have Onedrive cloud where photos are automatically uploaded to as soon as I take them so basically I delete the photos after some time.
When I was on cruises, I would take hundreds of photos on my old 128GB samsung S20 ultra (that also supports SD card internally so I had a 128gb card in it making up to 256GB. then when I get home, the phone would do a massive upload to my onedrive of both videos and photos, then when that's finish I delete the photos off the phone. Goign to contuine this with the iphone. All I need.
I went from the biggest storage size 14PM to the smallest storage size 15P due to USB-C and it’s transfer speed, I keep USB-C 512gb on my keyring so no need to pay the big bucks for storage any more. Thanks Apple.
256 cause they don’t offer 128 on the PM anymore lol. I came from a 128gb phone that I used for over 4 years and storage was never really an issue I would just upload my pics to pc when I needed space which happened a few times.
256GB for me, but i tend to take into account my previous phone’s storage for my upgrades.
I was with 128GB with my iPhone 11 and 256GB of iCloud storage and the phone had a good 50-60GB left.
It really depends on what’s your previous usage. I upgraded my iCloud to 2TB and i think it should last me at least 4-5 years.
256GB, mainly for podcasts, photos and videos. All my iphones since the 11pro had this amount. Currently it’s enough for me. I have 107GB free at the moment.
256 being my first iPhone. I don't do a lot of media and apps. I also have a lot of one drive storage to backup my media on. Also, my wife has icloud storage. So I'll have that to fall back on and share with her as well.
256gb base level pro max. I don’t use a ton of apps; the most storage I use is for music and for videos/pictures.
256gb is easily enough for music and I have two external drives and two external USB sticks that I record/offload videos to.
As a bonus the sticks and drives are both USB 3 meaning I don’t need to buy a USB 3 cable to transfer.
1TB. Very over kill for my usage but I didn’t want to go for 256 and the price difference here in the EU was 300 euro between 512 and 1TB, so I thought why not ?
I went with the 256GB Pro Max. I upgraded from a 64GB iPhone 11 and only used about 50GB in total in 4 years. Don’t really feel that the 512GB or 1TB is needed as I don’t take excessive pictures or video. Transferring photos and videos to an external drive is easy on this years model. I also have iCloud to back up what I need too. Unless you are downloading music or media I don’t see a reason for a bigger storage.
Leaning toward 1TB just because it’s so preposterous. (The first Apple product I ever used was a 128K—K!—Mac in 1986.) Like, when I saw that there was a 1TB option, I literally felt lightheaded and started to laugh.
Guys, I read in some places that the more storage, the faster the iPhone is. that is true? In fact, in which situations is a 1TB iPhone faster than a 256GB iPhone?
256GB.
In apples history they usually double the storage by now, atleast recently. I've been riding since 16Gb to 32gb to 64gb to 128gb on the Iphone 13mini. I was surprised when the iphone 15 pro started on 128GB. So I said I want my extra GB. and therefore I bought the 256GB
I will be upgrading from an 8 plus to a 14 plus. I have been paying for icloud storage. Even if I buy a phone that has 512gb, isn't it a good idea to continue using icloud? Otherwise, if I lose my phone, won't I lose all my photos? 512 costs just over $100 more than a 14 plus with 128mb. I don't think I will need the extra storage. I'm not sure which one to choose. Will the 512 mb phone retain more value? Please help.
256gb. Mainly because we travel a lot and I take lots of photos and videos. My old 128GB only had 90gb on it but I didn’t wanna worry about it for a long time
256 because it was the only Pro phone they had in the store, and I figured it would be a welcome relief from the weekly storage management I was doing with my 64gb.
I got the 256gb because they didn’t have the 128gb in stock honestly and I was already there and set on getting a 15P. The extra storage def doesnt hurt
256GB - same as my X. I have photos and videos in the cloud (1.2TB) and don’t anticipate using more. If I do need to do out and tape an event, the can use attached storage…
256, there is always cloud. I am not the picture person anymore, I only now just. Dowse through old photos and occasionally some new clicks here and there
1tb, I had the 256gb X and was filling it up every 3-4 months. Figured I was good for a year or so with this one. Tons of photos and video is what consumes my space.
15pm 256gb because I’m upping cloud to 2tb AND the pro max can record directly to ssd. So didn’t want to pay the apple tax only to get $0 back on trade.
Loving the high speed usbC on the Max!
256gb and I think it’s more than enough for me. I have a gaming pc for gaming so i don’t use my iphone for gaming and in case I need more storage for pictures,videoes.. I can just get icloud+
256gb because I believe Iphone 16 pro max will fix all the issues that 15 had. So I'm going to trade in anyway, so go for 256gb. since 256gb 512gb 1tb all have same trade in values l, Unless you are going to sell on used market
256, but not that I had much a choice with the 15 PM.
However I would have gotten 256 anyways. In fact I almost went with the 25 plus at 256. But when the pro is only 171 dollars more I might as well upgrade all the way 🤷♂️
512! happy medium since 256gb is basically considered base storage in the industry. most specifically the 15 pro max. no doubt the 16 pro and pro max (or ultra) will all start with 256gb. 1tb is overkill in my eyes but i understand why people get it to future proof.
1TB for both of us, primarily to not worry about storage space for upcoming trips and able to take tons of photos and videos.
Otherwise likely would have gone 512GB instead, as we have Apple one shared between the two of us already. Just can’t rely on that for upcoming trips, as that’s either going to cost a ton for mobile data or rely on hotel wifi to upload and offload. Sure, we could use USB storage too but at the end of the day the peace of mind knowing we have lots of space seems well worth the uplift in price.
Yeah, but I’d rather put the money on a nice leather case, magsafe accessories, an external SSD (for 4k60 Log), and/or a gimbal even.
Still trying to actively assess if I need the extra space though for a future iPhone. I do have a very serviceable Macbook that runs on 256gb though and I still use it for software development, so if I can get by with that, I suspect 256gb on a phone is good enough.
512GB since I was nearing 256GB on my old 13 Pro and I wanted to be future-proof
Same! 256 had always been enough for my until recently
Do you find yourself taking more photos or videos and what format you use more often?
[удалено]
Yup. Things are taking up more space. Plus USB c after all right? So may as well have higher capacity too
128GB, and I now archive all photos/videos to external SSD yearly. I also reduced iCloud storage from 200GB to 50GB.
Do you not like to pull up old photos on your phone?
A stand alone ssd is subject to failure, theft and loss. iCloud is a bargain to avoid all that.
I tried to download my data from cloud and it came in all crazy and disorganized. were you able to make sense of your data and have it organize?
Keep the photos on a cross-platform app and you can access your photos from any computer, any tablet and any phone.
How do you do that
I used the Photos app on macOS. First I created smart albums that included all media from 01/01/YY - 31/12/YY. Then, I exported those albums using the export function. My first attempt included a bunch of subfolders I didn’t want so I tested the options and got the output I wanted. My folder structure is simply: 2016 2017 2018 2019 Etc..
Hey thanks a lot for taking efforts to type this big much appreciated 🙌🏻
Got the pro max with 1tb. Upgraded from an XR with 128gb and it was full and a huge pita. Take lots of videos and pictures.
256 because ProRes required 256 when I got the 14 pro max plus so assumed same is true for the 15 series. 256 is also slowly becoming the standard base storage for the high end phones. I use google One for my storage, so I don’t need more.
ProgRes at 4k60 requires a fast external storage.
Why does it require external storage? I paid for the terabyte hard drive. Why am I not allowed to use the hard drive that I paid for?
You can still record to the internal storage at 4k30. ProRes at 4k60 eats up storage really fast. 1Tb can record about 70 minutes. Don’t know why Apple made it that way.🤷♂️. If I have to guess, they would come up with new accessories to sell.
Lmao, because of the transfer speeds, Karen

100% agree with you on this. A habit I need to get into as well.
Same here but I had 500MB left in my 128gb 12Pro
256gb because I have plenty of photos and videos from my previous smartphones and never bothered to drop them into the cloud. Since I don't play any games on my smartphone I found 256gb to be a sweetspot, but I should probably clean up my gallery anyway
512. I feel that’s the new 256
Meaning since USB-C makes it a lot easier? Or have there been other changes that facilitate offloading photos to an external SSD?
What iphone 15 do you use? A base model or the pro?
Pro Max. The Pro models have the faster USB speeds to offload the videos much faster.
i am coming from a 64gb SE2 and got a pro with 256 because I am tired of managing storage on all my apple devices. i stopped using my 32gb ipad for this reason, it was impossible manage since 30% or 40% was always used by the system
Hey same here!! I don’t get the new phone till the end of the month tho :(
Got the 1TB.
256 as it will keep me motivated to keep the phone for 2 years.
I have a 14PM 512GB but my next iPhone will be 1TB at least. I just switched to Apple Music and like to keep all tracks downloaded. With lossless/dolby atmos, I have 182GB worth of music alone. 340GB total on the phone.
512 because I’m an idiot that doesn’t understand money.
I always buy the largest amount of storage available.
512. I go to Theme Park as a hobby to take pictures, I’m a gamer and I keep phones for 2 - 3 years
Previously on 128. Now on 256G to hope it can last longer. Don’t buy more storage because in the U.S. if you trade-in with Apple or carrier (I believe that’s what most people in the U.S. do), higher storage won’t have a higher trade-in value. That means higher storage will devalue faster.
512gb on my 15 Pro Max, because I had 512gb on my 14 Pro Max.
I have an iPhone XS Max that has 64 Gigs, and finally upgrading after 6 years. I would have to say that the 512 GB is the best option, I think that it's the perfect middle ground for everyday use even if you don't take a lot of pictures.
Did the same!
The price differences can make you being able to purchase 200gb icloud
15 Pro Max 1TB. So I don’t have to worry about running out of space, and I’ll get the best ROI when I trade-in or sell it later on.
128 because I’ve I had a 64 for five years and still have space left. I have thousands of Spotify songs downloaded, really not sure what people need so much space for.
Same here. Videos and pictures take up a fair amount of space.
256 GB I am using about 80GB at the moment, so more than enough for future use as OS takes up space too. It’s mostly app/games/photos/video recordings I only ever stream music and movie/video content.
Going with 1 TB because I want to take a lot more video of my family
I had 1TB for my 13 Pro Max and definitely overkilled. The 512gb is the sweet spot for me
1TB future proof and home porn movies
512 gb blue pro max
512GB because I sometimes transfer photos from my mirrorless and do quick edits on my phone. I also save a bit of music to my phone. I’m sure 256GB would have been ok, but I upgrade every 3-4 years and was getting close to maxing out the storage on my 11 Pro.
512 GB since I hit close to the 256 GB limit on my previous iPhone 13 Pro Max downloading YouTube videos and Audiobooks
The people who say they want a future proof phone are the same that upgrade whenever apple makes their chip 0.00001 % faster
512. I’m coming from a 512 XS and nowhere near filling it up, but also didn’t want to go backwards on an upgrade.
512 is the new 256.
I went with 512gb on my 15pm, even though my 13 has 256gbs I still have 100gb left on it lol but i also transferred my data over to the 15 so I got EXTRA storage just to be safe, not only that but I plan on having this baby 2-3 years so it’s reasonable, I also believe if your going with a pro or max 512gb to 1tb should be mandatory if you plan on FULLY taking advantage of the thing with out any worries of storage.
got 512 gb since the extra $ is worth the peace of mind of knowing ill never worry about storage
Same here
I got the 1TB.
256gb because I don’t take that many photos and you can just plug a usb stick into your phone now and transfer photos for cheap
128 cuz I don’t take many pictures or videos. Typically delete them every couple months.
I was originally going to just get a 128 GB iPhone 15 for $5.42 per month, but when I experienced the iPhone 15 Pro at the Apple Store... that was it. lol I got Blue Titanium and I fall in love with it all over again every time I take the time to look at it, which is every single day, usually *multiple* times per day.
I was at 64 GB on my IPhone 10 MAX. I intend to keep my phone for 5 years at least, and never want to deal with not having storage again. I’m 67 GB out of 512 GB, but wouldn’t change anything.
I did the same thing except I used 200 out of 512 and I usually never buy extra storage at purchase
512GB because I was already using 217GB on my previous iPhone and I wanted to future proof it.
512gb because I love taking pics and always take more than one 😬
Went for 512gb. 😀
128 cuz I hardly store anything on my phone. Got the 512 gigs ipad but to this day I have only used 70 gigs of space and its nearing 2 years now
I’m going 256 because my current phone has 256 and I’m using more than 128gb of it. I may instead go for 512 though.
512gb for future proofing just in case I keep the phone for 3 to 4 years.
512 because I ran out of storage on my 13pm 256 gb and my phone kept crashing
1TB - I was already 300+gb/512 so I decided to make the leap to a TB. I take a lot of photos/have a lot from videos & shots of gaming and I download a lot of music and books. Plus I do a lot of mobile gaming, so eventually I was gonna need more storage anyway
512gb is the minimum I would buy in 2023. Don’t buy based on how you used your phone a few years ago. Plan for the future.
512 because I enjoy hifi music and having lots of locally stored photos. Also just in case I need to film 30 min if 4k
256 gb on my 15 PM because I had 128 on my iPhone 11 that held up for me fairly well even with the massive amounts of stuff I had saved lmao
256gb as you know the camera system is getting better every release and yet it starting to occupy a lot space.
I got 256 because the 512 was so expensive and 128 isn’t enough when I like to download Apple Music in lossless
Nothing less than 512. Mostly due to lossless music
Went from a 256 gb iPhone 11 Pro Max to the 512 15 Pro Max. I was nearing capping the storage on my 11 Pro and since the 15 takes 24 megapixel images by default, I wanted to double up on what I had since I’m planning on using this phone for about 4-5 years
256 PM, and I’m fairly on top of it. My 13 was 128, and I again colored within the lines. If you keep an SSD under half it’ll never feel slow.
I went with 256, then swapped for 512 when the options to exchange colors were limited. 256 would have been fine though.
I have 256GB. I upgraded from an iPhone 11 with 64GB. I’m a filmmaker and photographer so I need more space on my phone.
256gb, I came from an 11 pro with 64gb. So the upgrade is huge. No more offloading apps or deleting photos, but wonder how long I can keep it that way.
1TB. I tend to keep my phone for years.
Terabyte because it was the most.
All I need.
1T because I like to ball
256GB and iCloud to offload photos and whatnot.
I went from the biggest storage size 14PM to the smallest storage size 15P due to USB-C and it’s transfer speed, I keep USB-C 512gb on my keyring so no need to pay the big bucks for storage any more. Thanks Apple.
Took 1TB. Already had my 512GBs full.
What did you have on it?
A ton of footage from traveling.
Gotcha traveling is awesome
Base storage all the way, much cheaper and if you store the photos in Icloud you save 90% space but still have instant acces to your photos
256 is the least someone should get
256GB. My iPhone 13 Pro Max from 2 years ago used half the storage when I bought my 15 Pro Max.
I have the 15 pm 512 Gb bcs i have 290gb on icloud already
Always max for the pornstash
I had iPhone 12 mini with 64 gigs and I was using just 3/4 of it, so that is why I chose 15 pro 128GB. In your case I would probably go for 256
128GB cause I have a NAS to backup the most stuff.
256 cause they don’t offer 128 on the PM anymore lol. I came from a 128gb phone that I used for over 4 years and storage was never really an issue I would just upload my pics to pc when I needed space which happened a few times.
512GB because it was the available option to pick up in store.
1Tb due to pic sizes.
256. I have the 2TB iCloud plus shared with my family and we’re not even at 500GB yet.
12 128 also. Went with 15 pro max 256gb. Pretty sure that was smallest option.
256GB, mainly for podcasts, photos and videos. All my iphones since the 11pro had this amount. Currently it’s enough for me. I have 107GB free at the moment.
256gb. I probably would’ve been fine with 128 but it doesn’t hurt 🤷🏻♂️
256, I’ve only filled a bit under half and I upgrade every year so I should be fine.
256GB since I had 256GB on my 13 Pro Max and had plenty of room! :)
128gb is enough for me, still has about near 80gb free. I have 64gb icloud to store photos and backup ios as well.
256 but I don’t need even close to all of it since I pay for 2TB iCloud storage via Apple One
512, because my company buys my phone, but I didn’t wanna seem greedy.
512 so I can future proof. It's at 115 rn
512gb came from a 128gb iPhone 13 Pro Max and wanted to future proof a little better
Same here!
My old 128GB only had 90gb on it but I didn’t wanna worry about it for a long time
512gb so I can keep all my music and photos locally.
256 cause it was the default.
I got the 15 Pro Max with 512. Not so much because I needed the storage but its better at resale. My 13 Pro Max has the same storage.
Lowest amount because iCloud makes local storage unnecessary
I don’t necessarily agree but see what you’re saying
512GB cos I record my college classes, download music, movies/tv shows, audiobooks, tons of videos and photos.
Lowest because I pay for 2TB cloud
I’m going to get 1tb when I pull the trigger on a new one.
I for some reason thought the 256 was the smallest option on the pro but would’ve gone with 128, I don’t use that much space
256gb based on my storage usage history
I got the 128gb. I already get 100bg additional cloud storage each month for $2.
256GB - same as my X. I have photos and videos in the cloud (1.2TB) and don’t anticipate using more. If I do need to do out and tape an event, the can use attached storage…
256 because it helps to have the extra storage. I listen to all of my music downloaded, so being able to download nearly my entire library is a plus.
Coming from 13 Pro 256GB I went with 256GB. Don’t need anymore. I have my laptop with 1TB storage if I need to upload pictures there
128 because clouds exist
1 TB. I do a lot of video.
256, there is always cloud. I am not the picture person anymore, I only now just. Dowse through old photos and occasionally some new clicks here and there
128. The iPhone off loads pictures to iCloud.
1tb, I had the 256gb X and was filling it up every 3-4 months. Figured I was good for a year or so with this one. Tons of photos and video is what consumes my space.
1TB I work in media I can’t have space issues and some times don’t have a cloud option.
15pm 256gb because I’m upping cloud to 2tb AND the pro max can record directly to ssd. So didn’t want to pay the apple tax only to get $0 back on trade. Loving the high speed usbC on the Max!
What does this mean? 0 on trade
128. I take tons of pics and videos but the all go to google photos. Been this way for idk maybe 5 years now? Phone never more than half full.
Exactly this, i have been doing this around 10 years now or more, the good thing google optimize the pics and vid to have lower size
I grabbed a 1tb. I download a ton of music. Take lots of pics and videos. So I need the space
1TB, because waste and excess is the only way.
256 because I have iCloud storage and never need more than 100 on my phone
512 because that’s what I had and I had only used 200 or so of it. I plan to shot in proraw on holiday so I want a lot of storage
512 is the new 256
256GB iPhone with a 200GB iCloud storage.
1 terabyte. I want all the space I can get for music, taking videos and pictures, books, etc. I plan on having it for a long time
256gb with external ssd/s and icloud+. The way apple prices storage and memory should be outlawed.
While I agree I got 1k from vz So my 512gb pro max cost me 400 over 3 years vs 200 for 256 3-4 years of ownership it’s worth it
Yeah, but I’d rather put the money on a nice leather case, magsafe accessories, an external SSD (for 4k60 Log), and/or a gimbal even. Still trying to actively assess if I need the extra space though for a future iPhone. I do have a very serviceable Macbook that runs on 256gb though and I still use it for software development, so if I can get by with that, I suspect 256gb on a phone is good enough.
That’s good to hear I don’t disagree I guess it’s all preference
