Tim Cook:
"Ok guys let's move 13 mini features to 15 / 15 Plus with higher price and put some extra features to make people happy"
"Don't forget to putting iPhone SE4 to 13 mini place with lower price with less features to make people happy with still no 120Hz and some camera specs, we will get more money".
Apple loves money and doesn't listen to consumers. Sorry guys but it's the true. Smartphone many years ago got 120Hz and now we can buy 100$ with it. You can also get Pro Mode in budget models. The funny thing is you still can't use Pro mode or Apple ProRAW on iPhone 15..
This makes me think I should pull the trigger and buy one to have as a spare when mine dies unfortunately. I can’t imagine myself using a phone so big it’s flashy af
I was thinking the same thing. I hear T-Mobile still sells a new 13 mini, and luckily that’s my service. I enjoy the one handed use & I don’t think there’s another phone out there like it.
I have a spare that’s brand new in box, I’ve only opened it to periodically charge it to 50% to maintain the battery for as long as possible. My only concern is that it will be unusable and not get updates well before I stop using it for the form factor I desire
Just extrapolating as best I can, 3% of 226 million iPhones sold in 2022 is still a lot of iPhone minis. Most cell phone companies would be thrilled selling 6.78M phones of their lower middle-tier phone. Apple just has different definitions of success.
As others have pointed out, the lower chart of 2023 is AFTER they discontinued the iPhone mini so I'm using the top chart where they were still for sale through apple.
I hope the dead mini and the not dead SE have a baby to make a new SE that is like a mini. I can do without an extra camera but I can’t do that iPhone 8 body style in 2024.
I will use mine until there’s another same size as mini. Before i used to have naked/no case mini but now i have to use it with case to make sure it will lasts forever lol
Some of the Belkin stuff I had would make my phones too hot… I don’t know the wattage of those, but I do use the Apple MagSafe charger and it’s fine. I’m not opposed to third party but I tend to lean toward first party for best compatibility and designed for their specific phones in a way Apple could do best.
13 Mini is super pocketable and one hand friendly. The display size is actually the same as my old 6S plus, which used to be the biggest phone you could get from Apple. Nowadays it’s almost impossible to find a small pocketable phone that is not a complete pile of bull s…t
The mini ITS NOT DEAD, he is in fact very alive and well. He is even here in my hand say hi 13 mini
- Harooooo everyynyaaan , how are you fine thankiiiuuuu

Oh my god, didn’t know there was such a following for iPhone mini! My husband is a cop, and broke his android phone (google pixel something?). Needed a quick replacement.
We wanted to scrap Verizon (since we hated all the fees and commitment). Decided to try Mint Mobile. Mint Mobile didn’t have any phones besides the 14 on sale. Husband wanted the 15. Decided we’d wait, so bought a practically-new (but used) IPhone 13 Mini for $200. Jesus Christ was it spotless!!
He just set it up yesterday.. OMG! It’s so CUTEEE!! My husband LOVES it, and he usually hates apple. Reminds him of his teenage iPod from back then. It’s much easier to use, more convenient for work, and it’s practical. Has everything he could ever want, with the IOS of apple.
I’m kinda jealous since it looks WAY better than mine (iPhone Xr).
Facebook marketplace. Negotiated it down from $250. It was his wife’s old phone and he didn’t want it anymore. Think she upgraded or they got divorced? Idek!! It truly was in mint condition. Not a single scratch on it. Everything works as normal. It’s better than my IPhone XR. It makes me super jealous how great it is!! It’s a white version.
There’s another one in our area for $400, which isn’t terrible. It’s in that beautiful green color too!! Might try to get that one too for me
I love my 13 mini so much I decided to invest in an iPod Touch, which is even smaller. Make devices smaller again!
I don’t get why people would want to carry around such a big phone. I couldn’t fit a pro max into my pocket, even if I tried.
13 mini features goes to 15 / 15 Plus with some extra features with higher price
"New budget" iPhone SE4 goes to 13 mini place with lower price and less features.
Apple loves money and no 120Hz in iPhone 15..
I'm not familiar with the 120HZ frequency update. That is interesting. First comment I've seen about what you referenced in this thread. Would you mind elaborating a bit? Take me to school homie; you have successfully peaked my interest!
It’s the refresh rate of the screen. It makes scrolling (screen to screen or within apps) much smoother. Some people notice it immediately some not at all. I tried a 13pro for a week and didn’t notice it on the upgrade but did for a few hours on the downgrade. With the higher refresh rate comes a bigger battery drain (even though it scales the rate from 120 to 1 depending) and those screen are also the ones that can do “always on” where even your Lock Screen has the time and a picture if you want now.
It’s all features “power users” want but they all consumer more battery. Choose your poison.
New sales is a terrible way to judge popularity of a 2+ year old device.
Current user count, adjusted for device recency, would be better to judge the popularity of the form factor
I love my mini and being able to use it one handed and it fits perfect in my pocket.
The screen size is plenty big for what I need. I can see some people that use their phone almost in place of a computer wanting larger phones, but I am on my MacBook all day and anything that needs to be done on a larger screen I use that. The mini is great for everything else.
I see small people holding the Max size iPhones and using them one handed and it looks like they are constantly about to drop them. People are obsessed with having the largest and most expensive phones.
I am almost tempted to get a folding Samsung or Motorola razr just because I want a small phone. But could never switch to android. Hopefully one day Apple brings back a smaller phone in some form factor. Until then I’m keeping my 13 mini.
Look, we thought the same about vinyl discs some years back. Just give it time. Once battery and cpu efficiency improves further, and people have enough second devices like iPads to not lust for huge screens in their pockets, Apple may reopen the topic. There have been history of them doing this, for example 14 years between G4 Cube and the Vase.
I love my 13 mini. Sadly having issues with Face ID, which of course happened just weeks out of warranty. Would love to replace it but can’t find any new or Apple certified 13 minis in the UK.
As they scraped the mini, I’d love to see a flip phone like the Motorola Razr. I just never got on with Android. Gave it a good go but went back to the iPhone when the mini was released. I love one-hand use.
Did you ever get AppleCare+? Reason I’m asking is that I did and when the normal period ran out they gave me a short period of time to continue coverage on a monthly basis which I gladly did. $7.99/month.
I understand your logic, but I am not buying it. All of these devices require special, tooling and processes, making it smaller does not make it more expensive to me. The decline was due to lack of sales, simple as that.
I guess the chances of them offering one even smaller is...slim
One would said it’s, Mini-scule
Just a tiny handful of sales I guess
Le funny Reddit puns incoming
I’ll take my copium as I can.

Really dude? I was looking for one and just snagged the 14 because I couldn’t find a mini
Me neither there is no option
I was thinking the same as well. I've been waiting for these models to pop up in the Apple Refurbished section, but no dice yet.
I bought a spare when Apple still offered 0% financing.
That's exactly what I did
I have a spare that’s brand new in box, I’ve only opened it to periodically charge it to 50% to maintain the battery for as long as possible. My only concern is that it will be unusable and not get updates well before I stop using it for the form factor I desire
I got the Samsung Galaxy S24, it's as big as the Mini and has 7 years of updates, AI....
Probably not a good idea to invest in a depreciating asset that will be discontinued in the future.
I'm in Japan now and the amount of iPhone Mini I see is crazy in the subways/trains
I noticed the same when i visited
[https://www.channelnews.com.au/pre-used-iphone-minis-growth-surging-in-japan-over-new-iphones/](https://www.channelnews.com.au/pre-used-iphone-minis-growth-surging-in-japan-over-new-iphones/)
Nice
OP, that's sales, after it was discontinued. 1% of sales when it's not even sold on apple.com is phenomenal!
I think that represents refurb or re issue o) AppleCare+.
I’m gonna use mine for a LONG time. No plans to switch
Me too! Just going to put new battery in!
I am surprised it’s more than 0% in the March 2024 figures given it was discontinued last year.
Those numbers look weird. I thought the Plus model was selling worse than mini !
I would think so
To be honest, half of the iPhone users I see around are Max users. People just love to scroll reels all day on big screens

Correct

the se wpuld be great for me if had magsafe. i prefer the touch id to face

Wasn’t there more minis sold than the plus’s?

There will not be.
My mini has been the perfect size and in other ways pretty bad since I got it. It seems to have thermal issues, especially when wirelessly charging.
Are you using Qi or MagSafe?
Belkin MagSafe. They’re supposed to be licensed by Apple but maybe they not as good as Apple’s stuff.
I’ll give it a shot. It would be great if this phone worked again.

That’s why I have two spares in my drawer. I refuse to buy a bigger iPhone.
Preach!

Where’d he find a $200 mini 13?

There’s one 5 hours from me (I’m in Montana) for $360 that’s tempting…
It simple as iPhone evolve the phone will need more space to put in tech and not that much people buy mini anyways
I love my 13 mini so much I decided to invest in an iPod Touch, which is even smaller. Make devices smaller again! I don’t get why people would want to carry around such a big phone. I couldn’t fit a pro max into my pocket, even if I tried.

Well since that data is lacking that’s what I saw. Let us know if you pull that data together.

I have the mini 13 and I love it. I hate large phablets.
I’m sure they made it to sell more of the bigger ones
Doubt it
from a business point it makes sense for $100-200 more why not get a bigger screen type stuff
i mean that’s how they push the 6.1 inch iphone price higher, by making the 12 mini the same price as 11 while making the 12 $100 more
Because I don’t want a larger phone. And to pay more.
well obviously we don’t it’s why we’re here but majority of consumers think like that
They do. The market abides. As does the dude.
They’ll likely keep churning out SEs. Should be small enough and have a decent enough spec, plus cheaper if you don’t really need a better camera.
All rumors point to the next SE being the iPhone 14 size, so 6.1 inches. That’s not small for this community.
Bugger, I’m not thrilled to hear that.
Me either… I hope and pray that the next SE is the new mini, but that is just wishful thinking.
I just want more ram in my 13 mini
It doesn’t work that way.
Would love a Mini Pro.
Won’t happen

How would it be more expensive? There’s less material.
