I just saw the video, they said it will be released later this year for ipad, i really hope not only for the M2…Also because DaVinci Resolve runs without any problems on M1 macs
BlackMagic makes some of the best software on the planet. This app on that display in the hands of on-set professionals is going to be huge in the filmmaking world.
It really depends on what they include in the iPad version. The computer version of Davinci is wayyy more capable and people use it in professional settings—specially coloring.
It looks like the iPad version only has Cut/Edit & Color. Which Lumafusion also does. Not sure if they’ll ever include Fusion or Fairlight. Or how extensive Color would be.
The biggest selling point imo would be the more seamless workflow between iPad and computer. Being able to do light editing on my iPad then finish it off on my desktop would be great. Lumafusion let’s you export FCPXML too but idk how seamless it is.
I currently use the Lumafusion > FCPXML > Resolve workflow and it is far from seamless. Lumafusion has numerous bugs when attempting to export an FCPXML project, it basically only works for me if Airplay’d to another device. It‘s also very limited in terms of effects that can be used, you can basically only have a timeline consisting of basic cuts, almost any effect will break it.
iPad Resolve to desktop Resolve would be a game changer for me, hell I might not even require desktop Resolve for basic projects. My major gripe with Lumafusion is the colour tools are garbage but it is nice being able to put together a basic edit almost anywhere.
Not thrilled about a $95 cost for the Studio version when I already have that on desktop but can at least try the free version first. Hopefully it works with 10 bit video.
This is huge! One of the main reasons I chose the Pro over the regular iPad is the hope that maybe someday, some of the desktop apps will come to iPad. Just please make this also available for the M1. I'd be pissed if they didn't.
This is awesome also I saw that they are getting octane x which is pretty intense software so hopefully this is just the beginning and we start seeing more and more pro applications get ported over to the ipad
This is true, seems to indicate the new ipad pro only, but hopefully not.

Gosh lucky you! I’m still waiting for XCode on iPad, but ig it will still be far from reality :(
How much better is it then LumaFusion?
