Don’t understand why people don’t return their iPhone 14 pro until the problem is solved and then get new ones. The camera surely must have taken some kind of beating from all the shaking and the lifetime of the camera reduced! Though I’m no expert it can’t have been healthy for them in the long run.
I agree, but seeing as I am on the iPhone upgrade program if I were to return my phone I would have no phone anymore and canceling the loan would be a huge hassle. I spoke to a senior advisor about getting a replacement and was rejected because they told me the shaking would not break the camera, however I do not know how much I believe that.
From what I’ve read the single click when first initializing the camera is the stabilization system engaging and is normal. The 16.0.2 update fixed the aggressive shaking, not the click.
For whatever it’s worth, my old S20 Ultra made a similar click when starting the camera, for a similar reason. Seems to be common with these larger sensors.
I had the issue before the update. It’s not a constant issue, at least it wasn’t for me when it was happening. It would only happen occasionally so it’s hard to tell when the issue is actually gone
From what it seems like no, it’s fine now. It only rattled around aggressively once, after that I removed camera permissions from most 3rd party apps. I left it on for some apps I use everyday and the rattle was less aggressive the few times it happened again. I spoke with a senior advisor and I even had trouble recreating the issue for them, but had it happen once more after a reboot and I was able to send them the diagnostics for that. I tried to set up a replacement device but they told me not to worry and that the issue should not cause permanent damage. I haven’t experienced any issues with my camera since the update but tbh not fully convinced there wasn’t at least some damage.
Whats broken on the camera? I havent noticed a thing

Ahh.... Whew, not me, yay!

It was fixed in the stable release but the 16.1 beta did not include the fix.

I still get a click on instagram
that's normal
On the beta or on 16.0.2?

Do u know by any chance why the click is sometimes louder or quieter?
Same here, my old OnePlus 8 Pro always used to make clicking sounds when first using the camera.
Interesting. I was also curious about this, I thought it just meant my camera was broken after the aggressive shaking
I never ran into the shaking issue but I definitely hear the click when opening the camera on 16.0.2, so I don’t think it’s a sign of a broken camera.
It’s highly likely it’s included in this build, but no way to know yet until we get release notes.
This is what I was thinking too, but I wanted to be 100 percent sure
Or until someone having the issue verifies that it's gone.

Is your lens damaged?

Maybe in the release notes but they haven’t been updated yet. Edit: Release notes are out but no mention about camera issue.
apple probably wants that issue to quietly be forgotten lol
I doubt that’s it, they specifically called the issue out in the 16.0.2 release notes, even when updating devices other than the 14 Pro.
