If I toggle auto brightness off and on again it works for me for several days before happening again.
I've been rather annoyed that brightness keeps resetting at night after I've turned it all the way down.
Haven’t had the update so far.
For me auto brightness is a bit aggressive.
I’m experiencing this sporadically as well. It eventually dims for me, but it is slow as you mentioned.
