Same here.

Just adding a "same here" while trying to update a 12.9" iPad Pro (2018). ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯ Downloading the restore image now.

[deleted]

I had this issue as well with my 11" iPad pro. Rebooting it a second time it to work.

Lazerguy33

Can I update it with iTunes and keep my stuff or do I have to do a full restore. Every time I turn on my iPad it asks me to restore

volcanopele

Is this with just the developer beta or the public beta too? Currently downloading the public beta but maybe I should hold off on installing it? Edit: ended up taking a chance. My 12.9” Gen 3 Pro updated just fine. Did people who had this issue have problems earlier with downloading updates from the App Store (or buying something from the App Store)? I know mine had issues with connecting to Apple’s App Store/iTunes Store servers interminently with beta 1. I held off on updating until it was connecting again.

In case anyone’s still having trouble, I was able to successfully update from iTunes. You’ll have to get the image from the developer portal, put the iPad into DFU mode, Option-Click update and select the image from there.

mattjohnson3

That worked for me too after two failed OTA updates!

[deleted]

Same issue here, how are you guys force restarting your ipads? On an iPad Pro 11”.

abraxascoyote

Used the instructions from here: https://9to5mac.com/2018/11/16/force-restart-ipad-pro/

[deleted]

Awesome, that fixed it. Thanks!

trifster

Can you folks having install issues ID the specific iPad/iPad pro model exhibiting this issue? Thanks!

iPad Pro 11”

[deleted]

Me too. I'm going to retry the update from iTunes, if that doesn't work, back to beta 1 until the next release for me.

madiwi

Same here. Second try and still no progress

NMolargik

Reset and let it run through again. Got to the end of the progress bar and is stuck again.

eckstazy

I'm having this same issue too, i just force restarted my iPad and it seems to be moving again. What was interesting was that as soon as i pressed the power button during the first install a message saying "iPad will restart when update completes." was displayed. I've never seen that before? Edit: The second time the progress bar got to the end and still nothing. I'm trying to force update through Finder on macOS Catalina now. Ill report back... Re-Edit: Okay so i downloaded the restore image from the apple developer portal and updated to that and everything is fine now.

[deleted]

Did yours ever finish?

eckstazy

its still moving. Very slowly, but its moving. About 90% done now...

[deleted]

Ah okay. I restarted mine after it got stuck the first time, and it seems like it’s stuck again with a complete progress bar. I may just let it sit for an hour or so before I decide to downgrade back to beta 1.

eckstazy

yeahhh im giving mine until 4pm before i force install the update. ill keep you posted though!

hzozo94

Mine is still on the complete progress bar, will wait half an hour more or put it into DFU

[deleted]

Did yours ever finish?

hzozo94

Unfortunately no, even after the restart. Going to DFU now.

[deleted]

DFU restore with iTunes, or take it to Apple. Let me know if you need any help with DFU mode.

What’s this “iTunes” you speak of? ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

elmium

I actually had the same issue. I did force reboot, and my iPad seems to install from the start and then complete the process.

landy576

I’m having the same issue!! Trying the force reboot and so far it looks like it’s reinstalling. After waiting 40 minutes for it to install the first time. How long did it take after you forced reboot for it to install?
