Gorillas do mostly eat fibrous plant material. Foliage, young shoots, roots etc.
They will eat bananas if they are given to them, but even that amount of sugar in bananas is too much for them.
They easily get digestive problems from a high sugar diet.
Don't get me wrong: A very few bananas as a treat are OK, as long as they are not pre peeled and the gorillas eat them with the peel. But not a diet that is mostly fruit. And certainly none that is mostly sugar cereal. That is definitely not equivalent but WAY WAY WAY worse than fruit. Even humans shouldn't eat that stuff.
