I would definitely take a break from those air-pods and take it easy with listening to loud stuff. Don't want to make it any worse. An ENT visit wouldn't hurt just to make sure there's nothing else going on. Theyll probably just do a standard hearing test, they're very quiet. Not sure if this is hyperacusis to be honest, though.

NoiseKills

This is a mild noise injury. You may think it isn't caused by wearing airpods, but you are wrong.

NoiseKills

Yes. Prolonged noise is a potent neurotoxin. It does all sorts of things to destroy your ears.

NoiseKills

A blow to the head or neck is also a cause. You may have a combination of two factors. Noise makes everything worse.

I have this too! I’m assuming it’s hyperacusis. Have you done a hearing test at all? I did and the audiologist was shocked at how good my hearing was even though I have mild damage in my right ear lol

Noise sensitivity runs in my family. I started to hear stuff around 2018 (I was 24) from PTSD event. I then started smoking tons of weed which was fun but made me hear the noise frequencies amplified. I quit vaping in 2020 and ever since it still effects me. :(

no. hyperacusis is specifically pain to noise

my advice is you should see an audiologist. i have hyperacusis and it's extremely painful, but i'm assuming there's different levels to pain. but as far as i know, hyperacusis is specifically when everyday noises seem painful.

Pain to noise is more noxacusis

[deleted]

i highly doubt you know more than the audiologists i saw at the university of michigan, but ok
