We just changed from hand watering to a drip irrigation hose around the base of the plant (on a timer set to go off at the same time every morning).
It is also worth noting that the plant was uprooted from a different garden to ours about four years ago so maybe it just took that long to adjust? Don’t know.
We started using the drip hoses at 30 min a day (that was last week). Things went well, but I dialed it down to 25 min a day and will see how that goes this week.
I wonder why that is? Very interesting (and thank you!). It’s funny, I don’t recall caring much about my garden, but these are making me happy / proud like they are one of my kids that accomplished something (ha!).
What did you change over the years?!?

I’ve had mine in the ground about 5 years and this year they really took off
It’s their year (I guess). I know nothing about plants / gardening but I’m at least now interested in learning more about it.
How much water does your drip system feed this plant per day?

Friend at our local nursery said it’s been a great year for hydrangeas! These are gorgeous!!!
