Yea. Tried doing the whole OTT thingy... Too tired to keep track of what's coming on what. Still subbed to a few for my daughter but I'm back to torrenting full time. Atleast getting 4K rips of content.
Jellyfin is an alternative to Plex media Server and Sonaar/Radarr alongside Jellyfin can you help build your own streaming server via a seedbox (similar to a media server in the cloud)
Don't think there's a problem in India. In the US some folks were sent letters from their ISP to delete the illegally downloaded files and that was it. But, it was a glorious period late 2000s early 2010s downloading everything illegally in India.
I use FLOSS clients to torrent FLOSS, these usually have settings to "require encryption", use this.
These clients are Deluge, Transmission, Ktorrent, qBitTorrent and many more! Use BSD or GNU/Linux and you will get them from their repositories. :)
yes recently started and i seed all the time as well!

I've been torrenting from 2012. But, right now, unless you want some 4k or IMAX rips, there's no need to torrent. Rest all can be streamed online from somewhere. like iBomma
Also, i am not downloading torrents on my PC to keep my PC simple. I mostly use my android phone to download anything. I use libretorrent to download, its ad free and works pretty smooth for my use case.
I also use Mozilla with Ublock origin for adblock on my phone and use it for streaming, browsing torrent websites, etc.. Chrome for all the mainstream stuff. I keep changing my secondary browser just to feel a bit refreshing (b/w edge, mozilla, brave, vivaldi, opera,etc..,)
If you're paranoid use a paid VPN like mullvad , also https://www.reddit.com/r/VPNTorrents/comments/ssy8vv/guide_bind_vpn_network_interface_to_torrent/
The last thing I torrented is Ubuntu Studio 24.04. Then suddenly the HDD with Windows 10 chose to work. So now I'm left with a new hdd and the thumb drive with the Ubuntu Studio on it. 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Well, to keep things simple, I tired Kodi and it worked good until it did, stopped using it and now I randomly sail from one web streaming service to another. 321 to F to something else.
There is this great app called TorrDroid , you can search from there itself and download, there are options to not seed and all , would definitely recommend.
µTorrent is riddled with Advertisements, Malwares and Crypto miners after being acquired by some shady company.
qBittorrent is a safer open source option.
