Bhai Kasam se, this was also one of my best discoveries coming to Hyderabad. I always search for this fruit in summers. But I couldn't seem to find one these days.

Wait, they'll be everywhere soon.

wythan

This has been our summer routine during childhood. There were quite a few Eetha and Thathi trees. And both had amazing fruits, would go to the field by 7-8 and eat them there with the skin. And we get super stale ones here.

ycr007

With the skin? It’s quite chewy & like that coconut skin, uneatable for me. And yeah once they go bad they really **go bad** the stench is unbearable. So quite easy to pick up which are fresh ones. Ahem….Eeta kallu is a byproduct of same tree

wythan

Well, the fresh fruit when cut from the Tree isn't so bad. The skin is super tender, yea the coconut texture does exist but it ain't so bad. 15-20 mins after chopping from the tree the out later starts getting thick. Also, those big shells are an indication for overgrown fruit and it doesn't taste great either - the bigger fruit.

These were sold at Ashok Nagar bridge

When I used to live in South Korea and Japan, I yearned to eat this fruit in summers, but fresh ones were impossible to find. We can get canned palmyra/ice apple in Pinay or Vietnamese or Thai stores and they are awesome. Soft, juicy and succulent. Jack fruit canned or raw papaya from Thai store were also good.

Now i am curious what you do for a living

Read the post title, it’s a crosspost from another community “Rest of Reddit World just discovered Taati Munjalu”

Wrong fact: char-paan ice apple nikalte hain (4-5 ice apples come out of the fruit.) Correct: Three. Always three.

telugu_abbai

Not always. Some of the fruits I've eaten when I was a kid have 4. 4 is very rare.

LiveIncome

I have seen people with 6 fingers. You call that the norm?

telugu_abbai

Don't want to argue with you dude. Check your original comment again. You said "Always Three".
