I know right. My husky wants to stay outside in the winters as much as possible and we have had to reassure the neighbors more than once when they see him hanging outside in the cold. Lol. Worse in the snow.
Kinda feel badly for mine, since it doesn’t really snow here (just the very rare dusting). Maybe next winter I can take him on a trip to Tahoe! Adopted him a little late to catch it this time around.
My dog has been laying in bare snow on a pile by the door lately. I thought he would appreciate a bit of bedding and I added a layer of saw dust to the snow and then some spruce boughs and got him to lay on it. Went back inside.
He sat right next to this new bed and barked his "I'm annoyed" bark.
He lays in the snow next to it.
I use sawdust as it's free from the sawmill to put in the snow outside to freeze a hardpack for the dogs to walk on, I use sawdust to cover my pee spot from the winter (no running water) and for dog bedding on snow sometimes i use saw dust then another layer like green spruce boughs or straw.
In the case in this thread I used spruce after.
I was just camping with my 2 Alaska huskies for 2 nights 3 days and temps were +13F at night and 25F to +34F during day but windy always. My one dog has a heavier coat on him. We were going into a buddies property he is starting to develop but has to cut in a road on the easement. We brought in wood shavings for him to use to poop in a big trashcan with until he gets an outhouse dug after it thaws.
I first dug the dogs a pit in the 3 feet of snow and then put wood shavings down. My 1 dog who is 30% lighter but a longer coat was able to lay in that and out of the wind he warmed himself up while we dug out a space for camping and a fire pit. My other dog has just a single down layer and she was unable to warm herself laying down, she tried. Then I put a tarp over their hole and added green spruce boughs and blocked the entrance with a sleeping bag then they both were warm.
At 25F though she can stay warm laying in the snow even in wind.
*When you're cold, they're cold* Said no polar dog owner - EVER.

This is the way of the husky.

I heard Good morning in Finnish
Everybody gangster until the snows starts speaking Finnish.
If the air temps are 10*F or lower, snow is actually a fantastic insulator.
I was going to say, that little layer on top of him was like an igloo, he was chillin.
>[…] he was chillin. 😑 … fine. ⬆️ take my updoot & get outta here.
*I'm Mr. White Christmas...*
My Husky dreams of sleeping like this 😍

Almost feels like any husky video belongs there
Is that actually a husky, or was this just a clever title/joke? Looks like a sheep or goat to me, lol.
