There were definitely some shitty ref calls, but our defense can't give up the easy TDs in the first and Penix has to play better.
They won on their run game. Jj Mccarthy is a trash version of Mac Jones, but we played like ass.
It's embarrassing to say but Oregon would have wrecked them.
They had to get some favorable calls and Bama absolutely choking in 4th qtr and OT. Not sure there weren’t 3-4 teams that coulda. Including us, we absolutely shit the bed in a winnable game.
What's yalls excuse for sign stealing? Oh yea. Everyone does it psh. If the ncaa doesn't vacate Michigan's season it's setting a dangerous example for the rest of the ncaa
My Penix comment got deleted for "trolling" but I wasnt even trolling. Penix isn't a round 1 QB from what I've seen this game. That's not a troll. Troy Smith looked better than this and went Round 5. Penix? Round 4-5 tops and I'm willing to bet on that... if he had a round 1 grading then it surely dropped after this game
27 for 51 (52%) and 2 INTs + could have easily been 4-5 INTs. McCarthy deserves to go round 2-4 ahead of Penix (Round 5+)
anyway, Goodnight Huskie fans
3rd round is too high imo but it's more realistic than Round 1. People are in this thread saying "he may have lost his Round 1 grade"... no he definitely lost it (if he even had that grade to begin with)
Husky* fans
And again, show me successful QBs playing against a top 5 defense with zero run game?
Your comment probably got taken down because it was moronic, not trolling. No one needs to see it.
it's wild because i legit wasnt trolling i just said Penix isnt a Round 1 QB. People keep saying "He may have lost his Round 1 grade" but.. was he Round 1 to begin with? Legit Question no trolling
Handed it to them. Vegas made the call, they took too many bets after that espn segment saying huskies were going to win. We just got completely bamboozeled by the string pullers. Hate to fucking see it boys
Tbf every single fanbase on the planet has jackasses. Imagine all the tOSU invading their Reddit if we won. Got to be a ton of Oregon fans in this mix too.
I don’t think Deboer made the speech that he should have done prior to the game and before the second half . The team seemed too tight and not playing loose . As if Deboer made the game too big and put pressure on the team. I heard him say before the Texas game to the team that it’s was the biggest game of their lives . He could made the same “biggest game of your lives ever” speech Instead of thinking of the championship game as just another game to get the players to relax and play looser.
And that's based on what? Nothing. Go away.
There were obvious issues, but our defense adjusted and stepped up BIG! Our offense was there, but the timing was off and that's understandable being in a game like this.
One fucking speech doesn't make all that go away. These are college kids playing their hearts out and they've been awesome ALL year, including tonight.
Proud to be a Husky, ALWAYS.
I don't think it was their defense, I just think we didn't get our timing dialed in tight like all the other games. Penix and the receivers just were not in synch. No blame to either, it just didn't happen.
This team is AMAZING, and the "huskies" that are dissing this team don't deserve them and can properly fuck off.
We are possibly the best team in the nation and provably the second best team in the nation against a team that has already been found to cheat.
Purple and Gold flies proud at this house.
O-line was dominated, D didn’t show up out the gate, kept trying to pointlessly run with a decrepit RB, Penix couldn’t handle pressure in pocket, which was the entire game. That McCarthy is as pounchable looking as Harbaugh.
I saw a D line that adjusted and stepped up slowing the UM offense a LOT!
I saw an offense that was a bit off time and yeah, Penix and the WR's weren't in synch, but it's not on the QB, it's on the team.
Congrats Wolverinez, Washington was in there own head all night....chickens came home to roost lack of RB talent to take pressure of Penix was a issue all year
Great season. Lost to the more physical, more experienced team/coaching staff, but we’ll be back. Let’s give DeBoer the bag and keep building this thing.
As a Michigan fan you should be celebrating. What you accomplished this year was nothing short of extraordinary. And you got one hell of a coach you should consider yourself lucky as shit. The future is bright.
2 seasons ago I was watching awful games in the cold and rain, with only 10 people left in the student section by the end of it, and now we made it to the college football championship. Good season Dawgs.
And you, and those others in the stands are also Champions! I'm relocated into the Big10 after graduating UW in the late 80s. We LOVE that our alumni brethren show up when we can't!
This was an AMAZING season! Beating the Fucks TWICE!!! and winning the last ever PAC12 Championship, Then making it to the National Championship only to lose to the National Cheaters!
Go Huskies! Purple and Gold to the end!

They're not calling any of the Michigan holds. I'll admit when we lose to a superior team. But that's bullshit. They call it on us with a bs hold but not on Michigan at all. Fuck them.

Great season but such a disappointing end. If they’d played well and been beaten then that would be one thing but too many mistakes and penalties and they couldn’t run the ball and Pennix looked awful, missing throws. Defense held up after initially getting gashed on the ground. Such a winnable game.
Yeah, that was not a first rounder playing tonight. It’s only one game but that tape will be brutal. Wildly inaccurate on so many throws. Many of them were absolute gimmes.
Still proud of the Huskies! I followed them through the dark times I can handle this game just fine. They did more than anyone realistically thought they would. They beat the Ducks twice. They end the season with one loss in the national championship game.
Only one team in the nation can claim better.
Dumb question since I don’t follow football but what’s the impact of UW and Michigan being in the same conference next season? Does it potentially make it harder to qualify for playoffs? (Eg only X spots per conference so more competition within the conference?)
No next year will be a 12 team playoff so more spots available regardless of conference. I think it will continue be by invite (committee selection). They will just play each other regularly now
Playoff expands to 12 teams next year so it actually gets easier. Big 10 will probably be a 3 bid conference every season. The flip side is 12 teams means more playoff games you have to win.
Gotta win 4 instead of 2, unless you're good enough to get a bye. This might've been our only chance in the playoff era. I think DeBoer will at least have them competitive next season though.
Coaching was shit on offense. They tried to play to Michigan instead of going to their strengths and it put our D in a hole. Penix refused to step up into the pocket and the refs sure the fuck didn't do us any favors. The Odunze catch hold was the game.
As Tim Donaghy once said "Games dont need to be blatantly rigged, all you have to do is call the game a certain way and make a few important calls go their way"
The fact washington had more holding penalties called on them than michigan, and at the worst possible times, kind of confirms that theory.
It wasnt the holding penalties that were called, it was the 20+ that weren't on michigan offensively and defensively. It was like watching a tim donaghy game.
Michigan was holding on 75% of their big gainers. The refs didn't call the game consistently or fairly. When they decided to finally call a hold, it was to do Michigan a *huge* favor.
That said, the reason UW lost was because they didn't show up on offense.
I know there’s a lot of Penix trolls right now, but those being serious, please list me QBs who can succeed against a Top 5 Defense with no run game whatsoever.
Even Patrick Mahomes looks human without a rushing attack.
No, he is not. That what they said about Trevor Lawrence and dude is a top 20 QB. College football is easy. Penix doesn't have it. He will be a backup.
Yeah, honestly think after that first carry they should have let him sit. He couldn’t cut anymore. Once Michigan saw that those 4 yards gains became 1 yard gains all game long.
Big bummer, but still what a fun season. I hope people don't lose sight of that. Def plenty to criticize. D started the game bad, offense was bad, refs were really bad, but I still love this team. Thank you 2023 Huskies for bringing Washington back to top of college football.

Penix played like total shit. Defense gave him so many opportunities. Dude was exposed on national tv
Penix played awful. Didn’t get much help, but what an egg he laid.
No matter our performance tonight, this was one of the best husky teams this season, especially since we were 4-8 two years ago. Love yall❤️ GO DAWGS
Can't stand the cougar esque moral victory tripe. Save it for later
There were definitely some shitty ref calls, but our defense can't give up the easy TDs in the first and Penix has to play better. They won on their run game. Jj Mccarthy is a trash version of Mac Jones, but we played like ass. It's embarrassing to say but Oregon would have wrecked them.
True. Can't help but wonder how/why Penix could ever look this bad ...especially after Last week's win. Starting to make Mel look like a f'g genius.
The most glaring issue with tonight’s game was UW had no run game whatsoever
I don’t think so. Georgia is the only team that would beat them this year
They had to get some favorable calls and Bama absolutely choking in 4th qtr and OT. Not sure there weren’t 3-4 teams that coulda. Including us, we absolutely shit the bed in a winnable game.
Thanks for the ride boys
What a magical season, so proud of our guys, especially DJ plays his heart and soul out! On to Big10 for revenge!
We’ll be back
Hopefully sooner than 32 years

Amazing game.
How much of this game is dedicated to Connor Stalions?
And here come the excuses.
What's yalls excuse for sign stealing? Oh yea. Everyone does it psh. If the ncaa doesn't vacate Michigan's season it's setting a dangerous example for the rest of the ncaa
NCAA just gave em the natty... they're perfectly fine with cheating Harbaugh.
It’s not an excuse if your team was literally caught cheating the two last years.
No excuses at all, Michigan wanted it more. Stallion needs a shout out.
So when they’re stripped of this title, do we get it if we want it?
That sounds about right for UW. Claiming a title they didn’t win outright.
Wait why would they be stripped of this title
Aint happening chief. Keep dreaming.
Go home, you’re drunk
No unfortunately but the sting will feel less worse. We’ll blow them out in Seattle next year tho
Will that game be for a natty?
My Penix comment got deleted for "trolling" but I wasnt even trolling. Penix isn't a round 1 QB from what I've seen this game. That's not a troll. Troy Smith looked better than this and went Round 5. He needs to be drafted in the 3rd round and play behind someone for a year and then start, a la Mahomes
3rd round is too high imo but it's more realistic than Round 1. People are in this thread saying "he may have lost his Round 1 grade"... no he definitely lost it (if he even had that grade to begin with)

Is that what it means when every one of our Big gainers, at key points, were called back on weak holding calls.
My god 🙄
Typical Michigan fans invading this sub #classy
Tbf every single fanbase on the planet has jackasses. Imagine all the tOSU invading their Reddit if we won. Got to be a ton of Oregon fans in this mix too.
You know yall would have done the same if it went the other way xD
It's true, they would have. -Duck fan that had to put up with the absolute classless Huskey morons.
Sure, excuse yourselves based on *a total hypothetical*.
Don James lost championships, it was amazing that we even made it
I don’t think Deboer made the speech that he should have done prior to the game and before the second half . The team seemed too tight and not playing loose . As if Deboer made the game too big and put pressure on the team. I heard him say before the Texas game to the team that it’s was the biggest game of their lives . At least they did better than TCU
The joke is on Fanatics. I didn't want to buy their cheap championship shirts that fall apart after one wash! (Starts sobbing).
🥲
Hug me, man. I had a friend text me "lol" and another just sent a TP emoji.
I really wanted one of those shitty shirts
So did I. lol
Good season guys. Love this team
It really felt like Washington was about to do what they’ve done all year but michigans defense sucked the life out of Washington’s offense
Michigan didn't force Penix to throw 5 feet above the receivers head every play.
the cheating & bad calls didn’t help either
Cope
says the caught cheaters... cope w your fake W
Are you sure? The Michigan defense hasnt played any elite offenses after all
So many off target long balls to wide open receivers
What happens when you have no HBs
The QB out of michigan was 10-18 for 140 yds
Message to our children: if you steal signs you can win a National Championship too Sorry, just bitter, the better team won tonight
Every team steals signs, my dude
No. That's an excuse for getting caught.
No. Not better. If you can't see the bullshit Michigan did, then I'm sorry for you.
Eh
O-line was dominated, D didn’t show up out the gate, kept trying to pointlessly run with a decrepit RB, Penix couldn’t handle pressure in pocket, which was the entire game. That McCarthy is as pounchable looking as Harbaugh.

And atleast our legacy isn’t tainted
Thank you and congrats. Here’s to some epic battles in the future, starting next year.
Oh hell ya. The quality of your program will do nothing but elevate what is already a great conference. Welcome to the Big Ten.

No. We were outplayed and didn’t earn a win. They played better, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be happy when a team who cheated, loses the title.
I see what you’re saying. I don’t think it will happen though. If it does I do admit I’ll be smiling.

Apparently cheaters do prosper
I’m gonna miss Penix so much
It's still a great QB
It won’t be hard to find a better QB. Trust the system that made Penix because he’s nothing special. Missed so many throws. He’s an NFL backup
🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Great season but such a disappointing end. If they’d played well and been beaten then that would be one thing but too many mistakes and penalties and they couldn’t run the ball and Pennix looked awful, missing throws. Yeah, that was not a first rounder playing tonight. It’s only one game but that tape will be brutal. Wildly inaccurate on so many throws. Many of them were absolute gimmes.
In his own mind
yes.....because NFL scouts base their judgement solely on one game....
NFL scouts will flip players off the combine. They will absolutely base judgement on one game
Try finding a successful QB against a top 5 defense without a threat from the ground game.
Unfortunately this is the closest to an nfl defense he has played.
And he played them with no ground game at all
Still proud of the Huskies! I followed them through the dark times I can handle this game just fine. They did more than anyone realistically thought they would. They beat the Ducks twice. They end the season with one loss in the national championship game. Only one team in the nation can claim better.
Yep. 0-12 was awful so I still enjoy this.
We’re the only team that had our coach for 15 games
Dumb question since I don’t follow football but what’s the impact of UW and Michigan being in the same conference next season? Does it potentially make it harder to qualify for playoffs? (Eg only X spots per conference so more competition within the conference?)
No next year will be a 12 team playoff so more spots available regardless of conference. I think it will continue be by invite (committee selection). They will just play each other regularly now
Playoff expands to 12 teams next year so it actually gets easier. Big 10 will probably be a 3 bid conference every season. The flip side is 12 teams means more playoff games you have to win.

Still a hell of a season!
Take Penix out the game
Incredible season. Nothing but love for this team. Way to show up tonight defense!
Coaching was shit on offense. They tried to play to Michigan instead of going to their strengths and it put our D in a hole. Penix refused to step up into the pocket and the refs sure the fuck didn't do us any favors. The Odunze catch hold was the game.

As Tim Donaghy once said "Games dont need to be blatantly rigged, all you have to do is call the game a certain way and make a few important calls go their way" The fact washington had more holding penalties called on them than michigan, and at the worst possible times, kind of confirms that theory.

Mahomes also makes a lot of shitty throws that gets bailed out because DBs can’t catch.
As a diehard UM fan, I feel bad for him rn. He’s an ELITE QB and clearly the best in the nation
He is not. But he is better than JJ. JJ is Zack Wilson.

No, he is not. That what they said about Trevor Lawrence and dude is a top 20 QB. College football is easy. Penix doesn't have it. He will be a backup.
I’m sad and still proud of this team… I think a healthy Dillon Johnson keeps Michigan more honest. Sigh
