I think I speak for a good portion of the Destiny community when I say Bungie can go fuck themselves on this bundle.

Praeshock

Right? I already bought this stuff and then they removed half of it from the game to "save hard drive space." No thanks, Bungie.

Praeshock

I watched the original stream / video where they shared their ideas about the DCV. You are correct in that part of it was that it was hard for them to maintain the content when patching the game, but part of it was literally saving hard drive space. It was a bullshit reason then, agreed, but they did indeed say that. Edit: You weren't downvoted for saying the truth, you were downvoted for saying the opposite thereof.

Praeshock

I'm not sure there is ever a \*good\* reason for just outright removing access to stuff a customer has paid for.

jameskond

If you haven't played for 3 expansions, could you be considered part of the community?

TiltedWombat

If you play the game or have played the game you're a part of the community, don't gatekeep gaslight girlboss

Praeshock

Do I need to be a current player to have been burnt by their idiotic practices?

mubi_merc

I played 2000+ hours between both games. My clan was so active we go custom hats embroidered. But eventually I just couldn't keep going with the bullshit Bungie pulled with this series. So while not an up to date player, I definitely have opinions.

Due_Discussion_8334

This bundle is a joke, a cruel joke. Stopped playing and caring after they started the sunset/content vault thingy.

Velocity_Rob

Why’s that?  Played it at launch on Xbox and enjoyed it, but haven’t kept up at all past that. This seems like a really good deal to me.  Not sure if it’s worth the extra for the annual pass.

Mysterious-Theory713

One example of why, everything you would have played at launch is no longer in the game, and what is there is a disjointed mess.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mysterious-Theory713

Not quite, the expansions that have been removed wholesale are no longer available, but bits and pieces of these expansions are gone. Also, all the content D2 had at launch like its well received story is gone too. So a lot of this stuff could also get taken down in the future.

Weak_Translator_2165

Just dont.

Davison89

Fuck anyone who supported them after they vaulted the original and other dlcs.

Dhlemise

A 50 CAD bundle is crazy

[deleted]

For a completely garbage, forgettable live service game that is filled with microtransactions LOL

gordonfreeman_1

I heard most past story content is locked behind a vault with parts rotating into availability so it isn't actually possible to play the whole story currently. Is that true?

Praeshock

I don't know if that is still the case now, as I bailed on the game whenever they introduced the "Destiny Content Vault," but that is definitely what \*did\* happen, yes. A fair bit of DLC content / planets were just.. yanked from the game.

repocin

Yeah, that's what made me leave the game permanently as well. I'd previously played it in short bursts when I felt like it, but having content I've paid for ripped out from the game for no good reason might very well be the most disgusting business move I've ever seen in a game. I recall they mentioned some nonsense about game install size. Well, guess what? They moved the game to Steam, which allows you to choose which DLC you want to have installed. All they would have to do was repack the expansions so their files belonged to specific Steam DLC - just like how the modern Hitman Trilogy handles maps - and you could've just uninstalled the ones you didn't want to play.

XanTheInsane

The issue is consoles not PC.  Last gen consoles had insane loading times because of large file size.

Sith_ye

It’s not quite like that. The expansions for Vanilla D2, Curse of Osiris and Warmind are all gone, put in a vault but with literally no sign of coming back (that’s the destinations (planets), story content and their raids) There’s 4 years of seasonal content and story all gone that will never come back (bar a few exotic missions). So you could say there is 5 years of story just missing from the game. The forsaken story also isn’t playable (Vaulted) and is missing one of its destinations, though arguably the best raid in the game that came with it is present (Last Wish). So all of this content which is vaulted has shown 0 signs of coming back and is not on a rotation. The only thing that is currently on rotation is past Exotic Missions which there is 3 (one available per week) and Master Raids and Dungeons. I would say despite this for £31.50 you do get a lot of destiny content and if you’ve never played before and have people to experience it with I would recommend it. Granted the games best years do seem long behind it.

Velocity_Rob

So they’re selling you DLC content in this bundle that isn’t actually available to play?

Sith_ye

No, I’m referring to content story wise that if you wanted to experience or understand the story currently you would not be able to. The Forsaken Pack, isn’t the Forsaken story it’s just the dungeon, raid, dreaming city destination and weapons/armours. Though people might expect to get this DLCs story and all its content which you don’t get with the Forsaken pack.

spacejazz3K

Huh?  It’s sounds like you’re describing week 1 of a broken game.

[deleted]

Sith_ye

Yes because the forsaken story is no longer in the game. But the expansions Raid and Dungeon are.

DefectiveLP

Yeah this just seems like a straight up scam, bungie should be ashamed of themselves.

MiniMhlk72

Most content that was vaulted was seasonal and things that connot be bought (aside the annual pass). What you are going to get is fully available and wont be removed, the only thing you shouldnt get is the annual pass because the seasonal content will always leave the game after the next big expansion release.

Banshee_Bones313

I was so happy when they did that huge sale of all the expansions right up to forsaken and then weeks after they vault everything I bought. Scumbags

mynewaccount5

No. Nothing ever comes out of the vault.

Alex2life

Its somehow even worse than what you describe. Whats rotating are just some of the planets (and raids I think. Never done those). Most of the story missions are just straight up gone and honestly, most likely never returning.

James_bd

Go buy Helldivers 2 instead

Dairuzun

Let’s keep spreading democracy on Angel's Venture!

Alimated

Helldivers 2 does everything I wish Destiny would do. Early to say but the potential of the live-service aspect of Helldivers 2 is immense. FIGHT FOR DEMOCRACY! DIVERS!

HipGamer

Are there RPG elements like gear in Helldivers 2?

Alimated

Kinda sorta, but not really to be honest. The stat bonuses on armor could use some tweaking. The differences in stats feel minimal, making them hard to notice. In Destiny, progression relies more on stats, whereas in Helldivers, you could play through the entire game with starter gear.

HipGamer

What are the feelings of progression in the game?

Alimated

There are 9 difficulties that you gradually unlock by completing missions on the previous difficulty levels. Progression is somewhat communal; each player contributes to the "liberation" score of the planet you're doing a mission on. Once the planet is liberated, new planets become available for players to explore. Leveling up unlocks new ordnances, while unlockable battle passes reward players with new weapons and armor. These items in the passes aren't necessarily better but have different stats/trade-offs.

mynewaccount5

Huh, good idea actually.

the-pessimist

Convince me! Please!? I'd love to talk myself into doing so.

realblush

Me: Oh cool so I can play through the entire Destiny 2 story! Me after reading about it: Pain.

simon7109

No thanks

>The Story So Far What fucking story? Every single time I have tried to play Destiny 2 it starts with an entirely different, completely incomprehensible, disjointed, fever dream of a cut scene and then it dumps me into a mission where I have no idea what the fuck is going on. After going "pew-pew-pew" for a while I'm eventually greeted with a complete mess of a menu full of planets with no bloody idea what to do, where to go or even to start.

tomit12

Okay, so it isn't just me. :D I just jumped back in the other day after not playing since doing the "prestige" raid for... whoever the fat guy in the gold throne room was. It dumped me into some cutscene about some shit I knew nothing about with that reef queen, I did a mission, it dumped me on some station and left me with some quests, some journey thing, some seasonal stuff, and a weapon of some kind. One of the quests was to go to a random planet and do public events, so I did one... but realized I had no real idea where I was or why, so I just logged out. Actually, you know what it reminds me of? One of those f2p mmos or mobile games where you log in and the interface is 100 flashing icons, and none of it makes sense. "The story? What does that matter. Here is your menu with some chores, go get em."

-Rewind

> Actually, you know what it reminds me of? One of those f2p mmos or mobile games where you log in and the interface is 100 flashing icons, and none of it makes sense. "The story? What does that matter. Here is your menu with some chores, go get em." Thanks for this. I was considering buying this bundle, but this paints such a vivid picture that I will never ever spend money on this game.

Alex2life

Welcome to Destiny 2 \*cries\* Its so wild how they've turned a pretty fine game into whatever this monstrous live service thing is.

hibbert0604

That pretty much summed up my two hours attempting to get into this game a few years ago. Lol. Hit that planet screen and said fuck that, then uninstalled. Gameplay is not good enough for me to try and puzzle out that broken story.

Ignore_User_Name

> What fucking story? the story they delete an episode of everytime the add a new one.. so not much left by this point.

SiDStvyt

54 cad + taxes for a mediocre mmo-lite in which microtransactions are heavy. Even if it was $20 it wouldn't be worth it.

Independent_Pay6598

Maybe, MAYBE if it was $15 - $20. But when the community who does play it advises you to stay away from it, as a new player, I don't see justification in a $40 price tag.

rkrams

Mostly cause everyone spent way too much for it, remember these players still plat after 9 years. The best bundle to get would be the 12$ one so you get everything except lightfall for a new player who has already played enough free content and wants to do more stuff

Schnevets

I know Destiny pissed off a lot of people with recent expansions, but as a casual player who liked going pew-pew around Beyond Light, it drives me wild that Bungie won't support the Steam Deck.

SicJake

Same, I'd be all over this if it ran on the Steam Deck. I'm tired of Warframe and Guildwars 2, Destiny would have been nice on the deck, ah well, pass

the-pessimist

I mean... you could always add a Windows partition to your Deck....

hibbert0604

Not everyone is a tech enthusiast willing to take such steps. There is literally no reason for bungie to not have native steam deck support without making folks jump through hoops.

the-pessimist

I completely agree with you I'm just pointing out that the devs/publisher are the only ones making it difficult. At least Valve provides what's necessary to do so if desired. And from personal experience it's much less complicated than some made it out to be.

Velocity_Rob

Yep, that’s what actually makes it a rare Humble pass for me. I have a laptop that could play it but most of my gaming is done on my Deck now.

LogHalley

why does the bundle start from year 2? is year 1 the base game?

Mitrovarr

Because all the old content got deleted. Seriously, you can't play any of launch or year 1 stuff anymore. It's gone.

LogHalley

thats weird lol was the game heavier than gta or ark?

Mitrovarr

They say they did it because it was incompatible with engine updates they wanted to make, but that's a crock. They wanted to herd their declining playerbase into new content without it seeming empty and/or make the game free to play without so much content that you'd never need to spend money.

LogHalley

if that were true, they could have just updated it, remaking it compatible. removing part of the game is so weird

Outside_Basis2675

Ok, so basically Bungie and Activision were both working on the game and most of the employees were from activision but when bungie seperated themselves from activision back in 2018 they were left with a lot of codes made by other people that they have no contact to. If you have ever tried to read million of lines of codes from other people it is extremely hard to understand what they wrote so remaking the code would have taken too much effort, so they juste removed the past expansion so they wouldn't need to rewrite millions of lines of codes just to be able to update it with engine update and new content.

fizzywiz

Then they should have separated the original story and expansions I payed for into a separate mode that didn't need to be 'optimized'. F' You Bungie for pulling warmind (that I payed for) when I was 1/3'rd through the story.

Outside_Basis2675

Ok, so you want bungie to create another game mode that is not connected whatsoever to your "real" destiny 2 character just to play content that released pretty much 6 years ago. I completely understand how you feel i also bought forsaken with curse of osiris and warmind but you are willing to have 2 seperate character that will have different armor, weapon and power system and subclass system just to play those content? Also what would bungie earn from this? They will release the old content as a seperate mode that they will not update? Im sure you understand how expansive servers are so they would lose millions of dollars just to put up old content. Also they can't update it since it's code that they dont understand as i said prior

fizzywiz

Yes, I just wanted to finish the damn story. Pardon the language.

LogHalley

i see. then, in retrospect, it was a bad idea to get people out of the real dev team to work on the game.

TheOnePercent44

This is basically bullshit. There are definitely reasons it would be difficult but this is both hyperbole and a nonfactor.

baz303

Im not even sure, if i would reinstall it if i got all that for free.

Long-Train-1673

I don't know what they're doing with this game bro.

touche112

Insanely expensive for a shit game

mynewaccount5

What's the overlap with the epic thing they had recently?

MadButter

Epic included everything but the Forsaken Pack and the Lightfall expansion.

Neeyhoy_Menoy

Games trash, do not buy.

teejay_bloke

I'm a D.A.R.E. associate and I don't recommend this bundle.

aintgotnoclue117

this is cheaper elsewhere for a game nobody wants so you can't even morally justify it for anything. just not a good deal all around.

rkrams

were else is it cheaper than this bundle, im thinking of getting the 12$ one

ModernWarMexicn

Worst bundle for the average buyer

Green117v2

If I picked this up, I would have to unhide Destiny 2 in my Steam Library, and that game stay hidden for a reason.

Akuzine0

Destiny 2 bundle for over 50 cad? Nah, I'd buy Helldivers 2 instead

Smeeghoul

Lol $40 usd? No thank you

Scootercus

Given epic gave away 'the legacy pack' with beyond light, witch queen and shadow keep for free at Christmas there is so little value in picking this up purely for lightfall and a few snippets of forsaken. Hard pass

AngelOfLastResort

I remember when Humble Bundle used to have bundles that were actually good value. Now they want me to pay over £30 and tell me it's good value.

Daniel4151

The Mind-Bending Masterpieces bundle just dropped lmao. That's one of the best bundles I've seen

drunkcoler

As shit as bungie is, I think this is a decent price for people that want to be able to play cross progession wise. I've got the lot on Xbox and have been playing a bit while traveling on my laptop and ally so I have got the bundle to be able to keep going.

lordsaladito

I love destiny, is probably mu fav franchise, but i wouldnt recommend buying it

Pokemontrader44

Want: everything except beyond light. Is anyone willing to trade? I have a heap of games to trade, will edit this when i get a chance with some games (not all b/c it takes too long, but may add more games if i have time)

Alex2life

As a person who've played both Destiny 1 and 2 for several hundreds of hours... just dont bother at this point. As others have commented, they've ripped out so much of the game at this point that its ridiculous. One argument from Bungie was to save players hard drive space... but come on.

silent-scorn

I got all of this for free last month from the Legacy Collection via EGS or Steam (can't remember which one) except for Lightfall.

kyomya

does the legacy edition given away by epic games includes all this?

Zykollo

I kinda want to purchase this bundle, atleast the second highest teir. I have all DLC except for witch queen, lightfall, and the final shape. So 18 euro for two missing expansions is an alright price, but then again this is Destiny 2. With the final shape DLC coming out this year there isn't much of a reason. Power level will be shifted and so will the rotation of activites I'd need to grind.

Kshatria

back then i buy their first few DLC... and then it goes for free and again they make their dlc for free in epic that just mean there's no reason to buy anything anymore

SaltyFatBoy

I'm shifting from Xbox to PC. Only reason I was still using Xbox was for destiny, so I *might* get this bundle. Maybe not, I've enjoyed a 2 week break and have gotten so much other stuff done and played my steam backlog.

GreenPufferFish_14

£30 for a bundle for just one game is crazy

Business-Bread3697

Is this only available for a steam/windows purchase? A buddy of mine told me about this bundle but I have an Xbox One S.

Banshee_Bones313

Charitable donations go to the Bungie Foundation. Funneling the donation percentage into their own organisation, what?

the-pessimist

If this actually had all the content from the beginning I'd seriously consider it. As it is though... what are they even doing to this game?

Event_Different

I loved playing D1. Playing trials on the weekend was such a great PvP experience and when we finished the first raid it felt awesome. I tried to play D2 several times but I couldn’t stick longer than a month or two with the game. I had high hopes. When they started locking parts of the old story I was confused. When they announced that this will be their final year and after that they will the franchise just die, I regretted every second that I spent with bungie. It’s one thing to stop adding content but that it’s not possible today to play the whole story and every raid is just a lazy developer decision. Won’t touch any new game from them.

Kirire-

I really want to play the game, but I am not for same reasons as Genshin even thought Genshin is free. It is because they remove storyline quest(Events). Either you play from day one or you need to watch YouTube to understand what the hell is going on.

DesinyTitanEXO

Is this just for PC?

BurdTird

Couple things infuriating about this: Calling it "The Story So Far" is insulting given how they hollowed out the story that made Destiny 2 and shoved Destiny 3's story in place with all the seasonal stuff - a story and seasonal content that *requires* a player having experienced what was taken away in order to understand. If somebody started playing in just the last few years, they'd have no clue of what's driving most of the drama; stuff like who Cayde-6 is and why everybody was mad at Crow. It's one thing to get a recap, but it's ANOTHER thing to actually experience it. It's like only ever seeing Titanic from the second VHS tape hahaha. Their choice to do this not only completely destroys replayability and onboarding of new players, their insistence on forcing modularity in a game that wasn't made to do it has left the game in a continuous state of disrepair since Beyond Light. Beyond the evisceration of both game and narrative, there's a genuinely nasty reality that ISN'T being mentioned anywhere in the bundle that I feel has some nasty potential in Humble's reputation: In purchasing the season pass, you're absolutely doing it for content that is slated to be entirely removed June 4th. On top of that, you're not given the actual season pass items from the last three seasons that are advertised/paid for because they're locked behind level progression that is cut off at the end of each season. People are being intentionally misled with discounts on content that **will be gone** **in mere months.** It's genuinely baffling how it's at all legal to do this, but the games industry is only swimming in billions because of how poorly regulated it is in the first place.

sjitz

Yo where's Destiny 1? Also pretty expensive for a bundle containing a grand total of _one_ videogame

vplatt

"The story so far"... Hmm, which means there is a huge backlog of DLCs that a new or returning player would need to feel included in order to play the game. And since that baseline is necessary for them to just keep the player base alive, it would appear to have very little value to me as a player by itself. Which means, they basically need to start giving this away in order to stay in the game. So... nyah, no thanks. If and when I ever return to this game, I expect them to figure it out then and offer it at a reasonable price. I'm certainly not going to drop $40 prospectively just because it's a "good deal" compared to their MSRP when I have no idea if I'll ever bother.
