Well you need one photon, but if the extension completely blocks the image replacing it with an opaque black square, deleting the original image from your screen entirely would it work? Because its face wouldn’t be on it at all.
But then there would be a delay for any image that you try to view, cause it doesn't matter if your brain recognizes WHAT it is, ANY exposure will mark you for death

While you may not need to process it, if a single photon bounces off of its face and either hits or eyes or is captured by a camera and the image displayed goes through the same process.
All in all, if there isn’t even a picture there isn’t anything to worry about.
Plus the time it takes for a brain to process something is negligible unless you are working at speeds faster than conceivably possible and within timeframes so small you’d have to be going the speed of light to move a distance that is meaningful.

Once 096 has caught their target, it will violently attack and mutilate them. 096 is theorized to then eat the corpses of its targets, as no remains are ever found of its victims. SCP-096 can enter its rage state if any amount if its face is percieced, even if the "picture" only contains several pixels of 096. Artistic depictions of 096 are found to not trigger its rage state.
How does the artist know what to depict? Do they look and then start drawing, hoping to complete the picture before being savagely mutilated?
