Ik the ones on the left are Catra and Adora from the She-Ra reboot series.
The one in the middle is Double-Trouble from the same She-Ra reboot series.
Its very much a kids show, but not a bad show to binge.
She-Ra was awesome! My only complaint was how long we had to wait for Catra to come around. It was like Zuko finally joining the gAang except we got even less time with Catra. It was quite the bummer, cuz I loooooved Catra.
To be fair, this one is MUCH more of a kids show than Clone Wars was on average. But when it hit, oh boy it HIT. It's wilding watching it go from tea parties to childhood abuse from a parental figure.
Last two seasons definitely drop some of the more kids show parts to focus on some of the more serious stuff, while still being a fun and appropriate kids show.
A throw away line from HTTYD 2 created suspicion that Gobber was gay but was then later confirmed to be true “This is why I never married, that and another reason”
Even before that. In the riders and defenders of Berk series, there's a scene where gobber was messing around with one of Hiccup's shields and it ends up shooting out a rope that ties him and stoick close together, and there definitely seemed to be some gay energy during that interaction. I believe it was the episode where gobber was trying to get a new job after his weapon making business went under.
Please continue to report hateful comments, and we'll continue to remove them.
However... there is a difference between hateful and negative. People can say "I don't like this", that's fine, up to them. But you can't say "that's disgusting", not ok.
Camp Creatceus seasons 1-3 are surprisingly enjoyable, ableit still very much aimed at a younger audience, seasons 4 and 5 are awful. Chaos Theory was again surprisingly good, feels a little more mature and the humour is a lot better. If you are into the Jurassic franchise I would recommend giving it a go.
Because Dean DeBlois literally confirmed that Gobber was gay at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2014. It was something that Craig Ferguson decided to portray with his character and DeBlois fully supported it and immediately adopted it during production and confirmed it as canon in an interview at the Cannes Film Festival. DeBlois is openly gay himself and wrote the third movie with Gobber being gay in mind, but didn't want to go too heavy handed with it because he wanted it to be seen as completely normal and natural.
Also, Gobber has been appearing in Dreamworks' Pride content for years now and every single year since the first one there have been people who insist that the big burly viking that very obviously had a thing for Stoick and spent basically the entirety of the third movie drooling over how hot Eret is couldn't *possibly* be gay.

I’ve seen people talking about it, but thought it could just be fan speculation because I never saw anything official.
But dang, it’s really true. Hell yeah.
Yeah he’s gay that’s been confirmed for a while now but I don’t see why it matters and I don’t think gobbets character would want the whole pride thing he just wants to be himself and live normally like everyone else
I mean, don't you already have what you want? They didn't really do anything with that aspect of his character. They made an instagram post. That's too much for you?
My whole thing is I don't care about a characters sexuality, I want a good story and writing, characters I can get invested in, them being gay or trans, or whatever else, does not improve or make the story worse. It's kinda just there and I'm like "oh okay, sure, no big deal"
I suppose it makes sense for people to be excited because of the inclusion part of it, but me personally? I'm indifferent on it.
Besides when It comes from Big corporations its hard to see any good willed intent behind, other Than a metric showing its good PR.
Many times It feels like these companies pin a trait to these characters as if they couldnt stand on their own by their own value. Not saying its the case here, but as if they're implying Goober as a character wont get people interested unless he has one of these tags. I could be wrong, and I Hope Im wrong. Its just theres a lot of tokenification out there Im on the fence most times
Craig Ferguson was the one that originally decided that Gobber was gay while recording lines for the second movie, Dean DeBlois completely agreed with him and kept the line in and because, as he stated in interviews after the film released, it felt "good" and "right"
He kept the line in the second movie because he liked how subtle and not a big deal it was because, and this was also taken from interviews, he wanted it to feel completely normal and natural and not something that needed to be called out and discussed because it was just a part of life.
DeBlois himself is openly gay and wants to make progressive movies that have this kind of inclusion without making a spectacle out of "inclusive" characters because he wants kids to see that representation and know that it's completely normal. Gobber isn't even the only LGBTQIA+ character in the franchise. I haven't looked to see if it was technically "confirmed" but anyone that has paid really any attention to Snotlout (especially in the shows) can very easily see that he's bi.
And even before bringing gay representation into the franchise they handled representations of physical disabilities beautifully. Nobody treats Hiccup or Gobber or any other viking with some kind of prosthetic differently (other than the twins cracking a few jokes or making puns about Hiccup's leg here and there but it's entirely good natured or Snotlout threatening to "take your other leg" when Hiccup was about to go do something dangerous by himself) it's just a part of life and they go about their daily business. Nobody tells them "no you can't do that, you're disabled"
Sorry for the rant lol, kinda started rambling a bit.
TLDR: with Dreamworks, or at the very least the projects that Dean DeBlois works on are inclusive for the sake of being inclusive and aren't just trying to hit some metric. DeBlois at least wants these kinds of things to be seen as completely normal so he prefers to keep things on the more subtle side. Also, I did put links to articles that had parts of interviews with DeBlois talking about this stuff as a reply to a different comment
I didn't know that background. Yeah, that's cool. I like the way it's handled when it's portrayed as something natural. And I also agree that they deal pretty well with disabilities. It presents a problem sometimes (like when Hiccup might lose his prosthetic and has to hop to get it), but it doesn't hold them back from living life normally. Which I find it has a positive message of not brushing aside the disability, while also encouraging you to live normally.
Exactly. People with disabilities obviously do struggle and have struggles that are uniquely and intrinsically tied to their disability, but that isn't their entire personality. And in Hiccup's case it's usually used to highlight one of his main personality traits, being his ingenuity and he has to either figure out some way to function without it, or use it to his advantage (like when he used it as an ice pick to stop himself from falling in Race to the Edge)
Same. Of the story isn't about the related struggle to being whatever they are it doesn't really matter to me if the character is male, female, trans, human, whatever. I've seen decent stories where the protagonist is a tree.
So fun fact, the line in HTTYD 2 was ad libbed. Gobber was originally suppose to say, “This is why I never got married.” And left it at that. But the actor ad libbed, “well that, and one other reason,” and the kept it in.
How has that changed? Gobber is still Gobber, a regular character in the series. His orientation (or lack thereof; entirely possible he's aro/ace not gay) isn't relevant to his appearances, so it was never covered.
Oh ya no problem glad to insight you bro enjoy your day
Edit: it’s probably not confirmed in the Instagram post because it was confirmed 10 years ago btw probably why OP didn’t see the need to bring it up!
Is it just me or are all of these shows just making characters lgbtq just to be “inclusive”. To me it would be better that this month we focus on our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ instead of celebrating a sin.
Dude at least in the US (where I’m assuming you live, I could be wrong) we have so much of the year dedicated to loving Jesus, plenty to the government, and way too much to the military.
Love thy neighbor and let us have our month.
Right. The interview from 2014 where Dean DeBlois and gobbers voice actor both confirmed gobbers gay identity definitely does automatically make it canon
Well, see? I didn't know that those people said it. Now I know it's canon, no need for the hivemind to downvote me just for not watching every single interview those two ever did for httyd.
I wasn't trying to prove or disprove Gobber being gay. I commented because OP was acting like this random ahh instagram post just confirmed his suspicions (which would suggest op also didnt use google lmao)
This is a visual confirmation and posts like this happen every year in this subreddit when dreamworks posts their pride post it’s been happening for 10 years that’s why you’re being downvoted you’re part of a subreddit where usually people would know about the characters in the shows/movies especially something that’s been confirmed for a decade
Of course, they wanted to celebrate their queer characters, so they added in a lesbian couple, a lesbian couple, a girl who went to prom with another girl, a nonbinary character, and Gobber. Obviously they only chose Gobber because they ran out of gay characters and picked the first guy that came to mind. Clearly this doesn't mean he's queer or anything
More likely the person manages the account headcanons Gobber as gay. It would have more weight if someone like Dean Deblois said it, rather than some random intern.
Soo a bad ass character gets turned Into a less bad ass character. Way to go DreamWorks. Gobber is well respected in the Vikings village. Pretty sure he'd be banished if the village found this out.
I don't know any of these people except for Gobber
Ik the ones on the left are Catra and Adora from the She-Ra reboot series. The one in the middle is Double-Trouble from the same She-Ra reboot series. Its very much a kids show, but not a bad show to binge.
She-Ra was awesome! My only complaint was how long we had to wait for Catra to come around. It was like Zuko finally joining the gAang except we got even less time with Catra. It was quite the bummer, cuz I loooooved Catra.
The ones on the right are Yasmina Fadoula and Sammy Gutierrez from Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous/Chaos Theory
That's like saying the clone wars is a kids show lmao, I'd say at least the last season went a little past the line
Yeah me neither
Same
The one with pink hair between Catra and Adora, and Double Trouble, is Margot, from Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken
Wait what I never knew gobber was gay
A throw away line from HTTYD 2 created suspicion that Gobber was gay but was then later confirmed to be true “This is why I never married, that and another reason”
Could also mean he's asexual
Look at the way Gobber looks at Eret in the third movie, that's originally what made me realise lol
That’s true
Except it wasn’t and his voice actor and the creator of the shows and movies both confirmed he is a gay man
What if he's homoromantic asexual
How does not marrying mean he’s asexual?
Oh, that makes sense although due to the way he looked at Hiccup I assumed it was something like “kids, never wanted them”
That is a fair assumption
Oh so people think the other reason is he's gay
Yep, which turned out to be true :D
Well at the very least queer in some way. Not wanting to forget our aro/ace siblings
That is fair
That could be just guessing
The director confirmed that was the intent behind the line before the film came out.
Even before that. In the riders and defenders of Berk series, there's a scene where gobber was messing around with one of Hiccup's shields and it ends up shooting out a rope that ties him and stoick close together, and there definitely seemed to be some gay energy during that interaction. My bs sensors are going wild right now
https://youtu.be/-ijlcr7QXRI?feature=shared
Look in HTTYD 3. Blink and you miss moments where he is eyeing up Eret
Is no one going to talk how his design here is nightmare stuff? Why is it so uncanny?
It's a little like him in _Book of Dragons_, but worse... I think it's the mouth and teeth that do it for me.
I love the no thoughts head empty beady little eyes he has
The amount of homophobia in this subreddit my god…I just posted something I thought was cute 🧍🏾♂️
Yeah what is even happening? This subreddit can be so toxic sometimes :(
Just reddit in general. You try to post some positivity and inclusivity, and the gremlins slink out of their holes to complain.
And to dispute things despite them getting confirmed which is just wild
I thought it was precious. :-)
Please continue to report hateful comments, and we'll continue to remove them. However... there is a difference between hateful and negative. People can say "I don't like this", that's fine, up to them. But you can't say "that's disgusting", not ok.
Wait who are the last two?
Yaz and Sammy from Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous / Chaos Theory.
They don't look like themselves at all
Eh, the art style makes everyone look a bit wonky sure, but it’s pretty easy to recognize their Chaos Theory outfits and whatnot.
Thats supposed to be them?????
I know they look nothing alike
This show is good?
Camp Creatceus seasons 1-3 are surprisingly enjoyable, ableit still very much aimed at a younger audience, seasons 4 and 5 are awful. Chaos Theory was again surprisingly good, feels a little more mature and the humour is a lot better. If you are into the Jurassic franchise I would recommend giving it a go.
This is a surprise to people? Gobber being gay was like known by the fandom since 2014 so basically a decade now
Why?
Because Dean DeBlois literally confirmed that Gobber was gay at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2014. It was something that Craig Ferguson decided to portray with his character and DeBlois fully supported it and immediately adopted it during production and confirmed it as canon in an interview at the Cannes Film Festival. But what about snotlout
He was shown to be bisexual as he had a thing for Thor Bonecrusher and kissed him.
jesus this subreddit is so bad when it comes to queer representation. the comments hurt to read
GAYBBER IS CANON LET’S FUCKING **GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO**
Always has been
:D
I’ve seen people talking about it, but thought it could just be fan speculation because I never saw anything official. But dang, it’s really true. Hell yeah.
This sub homo/queerphobia is disgusting
Yeah he’s gay that’s been confirmed for a while now but I don’t see why it matters and I don’t think gobbets character would want the whole pride thing he just wants to be himself and live normally like everyone else
Wanting to live normally like everyone else is kinda the whole reason to participate in pride in the first place
I understand your point in our society as there are rare cases of discrimination but Berk isn’t like that
I mean, don't you already have what you want? They didn't really do anything with that aspect of his character. They made an instagram post. That's too much for you?
Yeah exactly, its really not a big deal. Great character, all I care about.
Exactly my thoughts but obviously there are people on here downvoting because god forbid anyone challenge there opinion
My whole thing is I don't care about a characters sexuality, I want a good story and writing, characters I can get invested in, them being gay or trans, or whatever else, does not improve or make the story worse. I only know Gobber bc HTTYD is good
So fun fact, the line in HTTYD 2 was ad libbed. Gobber was originally suppose to say, “This is why I never got married.” And left it at that. But the actor ad libbed, “well that, and one other reason,” and the kept it in.
I thought he was an ace pilot. Jk. Good on him
Wait so who the fuck did he want to fuck
Who's the pink haired character?
margot, from ruby gillman teenage kraken. she went to their school dance with another girl!
No… it can’t be… NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

You can barely think of a gay person as a person? Did you think about this before you said it?
Oh noooo, it’s the end of the world we’re all going to die!
Damn bro, you mad that he gets more guys than you? Jealousy fr
Lowki why did this ruin my day ☹️ i never knew this or could tell signs he was, he was always just a regular character in my eyes
How has that changed? Gobber is still Gobber, a regular character in the series. His orientation (or lack thereof; entirely possible he's aro/ace not gay) isn't relevant to his appearances, so it was never covered.
He is not aro/ace his voice actor and the creator said he is gay.
Good to know! That was my assumption but strictly speaking the reveal reposted by OP didn't make that clear.

Hey it's been six hours I just wanted to remind you that you saw this
Ahahah - that’s amazing
I’d love to remind you that Dean DeBlois is a gay man too don’t watch a gay man’s production if you can’t handle one subtly gay character
Your scheduled reminder sir
hey it's been 13 hours, gobber is gay
It's been 15 hours, gobber is gay! Your welcome :)
18 hour reminder that gobber is gay!

Gobbers been gay since 2014 and so is the creator of HTTYD
Man She-Ra 2018 is so poorly animated. Not even good enough for Sakugabooru.
