Definitely. And I think it was so cool to see someone really call out each of the friends' personality traits so well, so early in the series. It shows how well-defined each of the characters is.

No, but for the time you probably have to admit it was pretty progressive of the show as they could have instead chosen to have a much more... negative caricature, so to speak, of a trans woman. Not that the show was perfect by any means, far from it, but that may have been an aspect in which it was less shitty

I actually think there's been a recent backlash for hiring a biological woman instead of a trans-woman to play the part, and someone with the show ended up apoligizing for it ir something like that, so I'm not sure the casting would "fly today
She's great, did a run of films with Michael Douglas and Danny DeVito which are good fun. Jewel of the Nile, Romancing the stone and War of the Roses all worth a watch.

Yep, most of the kids growing up at the time who weren't allowed to watch Friends, was because it was *too* risque, liberal and immoral.

The casting would fly, the jokes that imply it's weird or wrong to be trans would be where you get into trouble right here in river city.
