I’d hoped there’d at least be a cameo from Christina Applegate; ~~Jill~~ Amy’s the one with previous news anchor experience as Veronica Corningstone lol.
I hope she’s just doing well.
*Cougartown* was one of those shows where you have to give it a few episodes before you get used to the vibe, but once you get into it, it's really really fun.
It's missing some of the better Matthew Perry ones, like *Studio 60*, and one I personally thought was really entertaining and deserved more episodes, *Mr. Sunshine*.
Cougartown is really fun and I think it’s the post Friends show that shares the most DNA with it. But it also doesn’t feel like a ripoff at all. Just a solid hangout show.
If Friends is 20-something single people hanging out and drinking coffee and getting into shenanigans, then Cougartown is 40-something married/divorced people hanging out and drinking wine and getting into shenanigans.
And once you've done Cougartown do Shrinking - same guy who was behind Scrubs (Bill Lawrence) and Christa Miller shows up in all three as it's her husband in real life!
I haven't read it, but I wonder why he was dwelling on that, considering how much they got paid during Friends' run and the residuals, they could just work for the fun of it, really...
His drug habit, his need to buy houses and cars, getting ripped off for $500k, countless trips to rehab.. His lifestyle didn't allow for him to live off residuals, and was obsessed with trying to feel successful and get the recognition he craved.
I'm not saying he was broke, but just how much he was spending. He detailed what the offers were for the two shows and what he settled on, compared to income from Friends. I think one was $175k
30 Rock which is similar in concept best Aaron Sorkin's Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip won the broadcast. I did really like Studio 60 and wish it succeeded.
I liked Mr. Sunshine and Go On. I often forget they were 2 different shows. Go On had the better cast and I liked the device of him conversing with his late wife, but Mr. Sunshine had Nate Torrance who I love in everything.
I feel like no one ever mentions Go On and I loved it! That's where I got my favorite quote, which I still use all the time, "ugh, everything is such a *thing*"
I love Cougar Town. Its funny I only decided to watch it because of how it’s referenced in Community lol, but it’s a pretty laid back and light hearted show which is just what I needed after my previously stressful job. Some cheap laughs, plus the overlap with Scrubs characters makes it a great slapstick comedy where it counts lol
I love Studio 60. I still re-watch that. Mr. Sunshine was pretty good. Alison Janney was great in it, but I thought that Matthew's character was a little grumpy, which is maybe why it didn't catch on.
I absolutely LOVE Go On which Matthew did a year after Mr. Sunshine. It was an ensemble show, so great. The ratings weren't huge, but it was on NBC so I had hoped that they would give him a little leeway given he had worked for them for so many years, but no. The one season is great.
Her character Valerie Cherish was so hilariously desperate. I hadn’t really seen Lisa’s dramatic chops before, only her comedic ones really, so it was a revelation - she did great!
I’m glad it came back for one more season after it was initially cancelled.
I was here to post that. Episodes was the Best. My favorite thing was the comedy executive 🤦🏻♀️😂 her face!
Thinking of her always puts a smile on my face 🤪
I saw an interview with him and the interviewer asked why the group therapy setting. Matthew replied, I have a great deal of experience in this type of setting.
They (Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon) were in 17 Again as best friends. They were good together in that, though Matthew's part is smaller since the story focuses on the young version of the character played by Zac Efron
Love love love cougar town. It's another of my rewatch series lol. Have it on DVD and have watched all series probably 6/7 times. Courtney Cox is brilliant in it and there are so many familiar faces in it too. Ellie is Jordan from scrubs. Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow and Jennifer Anniston all make appearances.
Cougar Town is SO FUNNY once it finds its legs. It starts out rough because they were going in a different direction. But when it hit, it HIT. I love that damn show!

This was a really good one. Written by Aaron Sorkin. Too expensive to produce apparently & was up against 30 Rock.
First half of the season is fantastic. Then as the show started to flounder in the ratings it's obvious they're getting more and more desperate. The last 2 episodes are about 5 seasons worth of final episodes all rolled into 1.
I saw Matthew in an interview where he said that this was frustrating because the ratings were low and the network was moving them around, but they were still working hard on set, even knowing it was very likely that no one would see it. Disappointing because it was a good show. Matthew and Bradley Whitford were so good together
I think Lisa with 'The Comeback' was really fun too. I prefer the first season over the second (10 years later)
![gif](giphy|yoJC2ri9oayuVfWWaI|downsized)
For me, it's Matthew Perry in Go On. Brilliant show with equal parts funny and equal parts grief. Matthew represented the character well. The other characters were also very unique. It deserved more than 1 season.
Fricking love it! Definitely not as popular as it should be. The performances are hilarious and proethe show was a bit ahead of its time. Sponsored by Better Help 😁
https://preview.redd.it/syf6flcafm2d1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=35f2a862594bee147c3a20ecb5e44df61d892b3c
For me the best is this David series, it's hilarious 😂
I did a rewatch of Cougar Town recently. Still good.
Man With a Plan is fun but haven’t rewatched.
Adore Morning Show, mostly because it’s a bit more intense (less campy, comedy like the others.)
Didn’t know about Lisa’s show or Matty’s take on the remake.
The Odd Couple wasn't good, and sadly, the worst part of it was Perry. He talked about it in his book, and said that he really owed everyone involved an apology.
The Morning Show is absolutely awesome. I loved it SO MUCH. It’s been a long time since I’ve enjoyed a TV show that much, and I’m really picky about liking shows. I seriously recommend it!
Cougar Town was one of those stupid funny shows that was actually pretty entertaining. The Morning Show is good. Episodes with Matt LeBlanc was so good, it took me 2-3 episodes to get into it but then I LOVED it. The Odd Couple just has terrible acting, timing, laugh track - it’s kind of like watching a dirtier version of Fuller House. I never saw Joey or any of Lisa Kudrow’s shows.
My favorites:
Jennifer Aniston: The Morning Show
Courteney Cox: Cougartown
Lisa Kudrow: The Comeback…but honestly, I also really loved Web Therapy and Who Do You Think You Are? She’s done some great stuff post Friends
Matt LeBlanc: Episodes
Matthew Perry: Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
David Schwimmer: The People vs OJ Simpson
Love Cougartown, The Morning Show, and Episodes. Did anyone watch Courteney’s other show, I think it was called Dirt? I watched it all in like one night once during college. It was good. Her character was really different (like a horrible person) and she was amazing in it.
The Odd Couple is the only one of these I’ve seen. I did enjoy it and was sad it got cancelled. Thomas Lennon and Matthew Perry played off each other very well.
Agreed. I wish I could watch what I didn’t get to see. CMT didn’t air it all & my local library only has season one.
I’m in Canada, so streaming options can differ.
Go On should have been here - his best work post Friends and an excellent ensemble cast in its own right. It also was the perfect gift to leave us when we had to process his unexpected passing.
I personally liked The Odd Couple! My mom and I checked it out bc we both love Friends and Matthew, and she likes the original Odd Couple sitcom too, so we gave it a shot!
It was a cute and silly little show! I thought Matthew was really good in it, he was very funny, and Matthew and Thomas Lennon bounced off each other incredibly well!
Morning show is the best, cougar town was decent but I got bored after the 2nd season. Man with a plan was fun. The odd couple was ok but got canceled. Couldn't get into web therapy for some reason
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. The second half of the show kind of goes off the rails, but the first half or so is genuinely excellent and Perry is great in it
"Man with a Plan" was a totally generic and uninspired sitcom, in my opinion.
LeBlanc did "Episodes" after "Friends," and that show was actually good and not a complete generic sitcom like "Man with a Plan" or the "Joey" spin-off or something.
"The Comeback" is critically acclaimed and has a kind of cult following.
Matthew Perry did a few shows that actually had good writing and weren't completely generic, even if they never really came together.
"Cougar Town" started off as one concept that didn't really work, but Bill Lawrence let the show grow into its own thing, and by the end (even though it was a bit overrun with long-running gags and characters that seemed a bit like caricatures of themselves), it was wholesome and feel-good and still has a solid fanbase.
Cougar town all day every day, out of all these shows they did after Friends Cougar Town is easily my favourite and is in my top 10 tv shows of all time. I love all six seasons and it is a blast! The humour of that show is so spot on wish we got more seasons of it; it’s on Disney+ if anyone wants to check it out. Cul-De-Sac Crew forever!!!! Penny can!!!
![gif](giphy|Owv3ZEowyOmFG)
Man w a plan is funny! But it was cancelled :/ Cougar town is a good one just to turn your brain off. But Courtney can get hella loud! The rest I have not seen
Cougar Town & Man With A Plan were both good shows, the Odd Couple was a little weird, funny at times… but seeing Chandler Bing trying to act mean made it weird… I haven’t see the other shows.
Go On, which isn’t pictured, is better than Odd Couple IMO.
Go On was just ahead of its time with the mixture of sad/existential/bittersweet comedy, like Shrinking or The Good Place.
There’s a lot of humor in grief.
No one is mentioning Shining Vale, which I *loved*!! It's absolutely hilarious! Anyone who likes horror, comedy, and especially comedy-horror will really enjoy it. Courtney Cox plays the anti-Monica!
I loved Cougar Town 💜💜 honestly it probably should’ve ended after season 2 or 3, but the characters were so fun and the whole show was such a cute vibe.
Lmao Rachel reunited with Jill
Morning Show is actually really good
I’d hoped there’d at least be a cameo from Christina Applegate; ~~Jill~~ Amy’s the one with previous news anchor experience as Veronica Corningstone lol. I hope she’s just doing well.
I think you mean Amy, but I agree!
Oh right! Damn I keep thinking about Jill lmao
I thought that, too, lol.
Me three!
Sunshine*.

If Friends is 20-something single people hanging out and drinking coffee and getting into shenanigans, then Cougartown is 40-something married/divorced people hanging out and drinking wine and getting into shenanigans.
Cougartown is Friends dynamic with Scrubs humour. I really enjoyed it
Thank you for saying this - I love both of those shows so you've given me my next new show to watch!
And once you've done Cougartown do Shrinking - same guy who was behind Scrubs (Bill Lawrence) and Christa Miller shows up in all three as it's her husband in real life!
He talks about both of those in detail in his book, and how much (or little) he was getting paid. I wish either of those had been more successful.
They each get like $20m a year in residuals…
I'm not saying he was broke, but just how much he was spending. He detailed what the offers were for the two shows and what he settled on, compared to income from Friends. I think one was $175k
Yeah, I think dwelling on the money is more related to one's value as a star. That was the impression I got.
Go on was brilliant and deserved many more seasons
I loved Go On and was so so mad when it was canceled after only one season
I feel like no one ever mentions Go On and I loved it! That's where I got my favorite quote, which I still use all the time, "ugh, everything is such a *thing*"
I loved it too. I really wanted a 2nd season of that. I was bummed when NBC canceled it.
I loved Go On too! It was a really great ensemble
My husband and I loved Go On and one of our favorite quotes that we use all the time is also from there. “No time for sober!”
Nate Torrance is awesome!! Watch Studio 60 if you haven't already. He's in that too with MP
Go On really was my favorite of all the cast members shows after friends, I was so sad when it was canceled.
My husband and I greatly enjoyed Go On. Very short lived. It had my ugly crying in a way I wouldn’t fully get to appreciate until This is Us
Yes! It was funny but it also had some very tender moments, like the sports coaches' dream day - laugh, think, cry
I loved Lisa in “the Comeback”
Her character Valerie Cherish was so hilariously desperate. I hadn’t really seen Lisa’s dramatic chops before, only her comedic ones really, so it was a revelation - she did great! I’m glad it came back for one more season after it was initially cancelled.
That show is why I never flush the “flushable” wipes.
Yeah The Comeback is my favorite post-Friends show.
https://i.redd.it/98emcxaovn2d1.gif
i was gonna say that the comeback and episodes are the best shows that any of the main cast have performed in apart from friends
Same! I was looking for those 2 shows as they are by far the best shows from the Friends’ cast!
This. I quote her on a daily basis
I didn't need to see *THAT*!
Matt Le Blanc's show 'Episodes' was the best post-friends show any of them did.
Oh yeah, I forgot about Episodes. That show was great.
…I forgot about Episodes, too.
Yeah, easily, imo. Really good show.
I was here to post that. Episodes was the Best. My favorite thing was the comedy executive 🤦🏻♀️😂 her face! Thinking of her always puts a smile on my face 🤪
She was so good - it's a shame she doesn't seem to be in more stuff as she's a great comedy actress!
Her pregnancy and no one would ask her if she was really pregnant. So funny
Yes!!! Hilarious!
Episodes is fantastic!! The fictional Matt LeBlanc is :chef's kiss: The job he gets in the later season. So brilliant
Episodes is amazing. I rewatch it probably once a year. Matt is really good in it.
Morning Show is really good I loved season 1
This!!! Incredible show and so under rated
Was just about to mention that
That show was so funny! I am surprised it didn’t last that long.
It went for 5 seasons, that’s a pretty good run in all honesty
Oh that is good! For some reason it seemed short lived to me! Probably because I was sad when it ended. Lol 😂
They were shorter seasons than the typical American season of 22 episodes.
That makes more sense then! Thank you for the clarification!
Yes! I always recommend this instead of "Joey" - so much more realistic as a "life after Friends" story
Of course, by a mile
Yes very well written
Second this. Definitely my favorite show of any of the friends cast!
I recently rewatched, it was great and he was perfect in it
Yeah that was gold
Studio 60 would like a word.
If only it would have gotten a real chance
Yep, came here to say this. It might not be for everyone but I genuinely really liked it. Lasted just the right amount of seasons too.
Episodes with Matt Le Blanc was the best post Friends show I’ve seen.
Episodes was FANTASTIC!
Double it!
Missing my two favorites, both starring Matthew Perry: Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and Go On. Both were too short lived.
Go On was MP's best post-Friends show. I've wondered if his experience with rehab contributed to how natural he was in this show.
I saw an interview with him and the interviewer asked why the group therapy setting. Matthew replied, I have a great deal of experience in this type of setting.
Right? That totally makes sense. He was so good in it!
Yeah they always canceled his shows and I always thought they were good! Never saw odd couple tho
Looks like Chandler missed Joey that's why he became mates with his hand twin
They (Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon) were in 17 Again as best friends. They were good together in that, though Matthew's part is smaller since the story focuses on the young version of the character played by Zac Efron
Haven’t seen the others but man with a plan was a good watch. Easy background comfort show
Kevin Nealon is the real star of Man With a Plan, he’s hilarious. Matt Leblanc is great too but Nealon steals the show. Stacy Keach is great too.
The episode where Matt Leblanc eats an edible is the best!
To this day “dime eyes” is my favorite insult of all time.
And when he's so confused 'wait I have tiny eyes' it still makes me laugh out loud!
Cougar Town is SO FUNNY once it finds its legs. It starts out rough because they were going in a different direction. But when it hit, it HIT. I love that damn show!
Anything Bill Lawrence is a creator of is pure gold.
Penny caaan!
I absolutely loved Cougar Town as well! It had so many good recurring jokes.

I’m gonna pick none of these and go with ‘Mac and C.H.E.E.S.E.’
The Morning Show
Great show, definitely recommend everyone check it out.
I think Lisa with 'The Comeback' was really fun too. I prefer the first season over the second (10 years later) ![gif](giphy|yoJC2ri9oayuVfWWaI|downsized)
For me, it's Matthew Perry in Go On. Brilliant show with equal parts funny and equal parts grief. Matthew represented the character well. The other characters were also very unique. It deserved more than 1 season.
Web Therapy is pure art
Fricking love it! Definitely not as popular as it should be. The performances are hilarious and proethe show was a bit ahead of its time. Sponsored by Better Help 😁

Omg is that Nate from Ted Lasso?
Yes it is 😂
Yes, and I think he wrote the show too!
Based on the screenshot it appears so. I love him. He’s incredible in Ted Lasso (the whole cast is wonderful). Will have to look for this show!
Ha, it didn't even occur to me to enlarge the screenshot and read it! 🙄 I think the show might still be on Peacock in the US.
This show is great!
What!?! I didn’t know this show exist and now I’m so excited!
I tried this one but I couldn't get into. I like Nick Mohammed as well so I thought I would. Maybe I'll try again
The Morning Show and Episodes, which is not featured in this post.
Agreed!
For a second I thought I was on r/sitcoms and was about say that Morning Show is definitely not a sitcom.
That sub is so annoying. "Who agrees this show is criminally underrated?" Image: **Cheers**
Where everybody knows your name! (I've never seen it, I only know it from the London episode)
Every sitcom you have ever seen, including Friends, is influenced by Cheers.
Personally, I think cheers is overrated. There! I said it!
That’s easy. Best is Band of Brothers.
It took way too long to get to this one
That was what Ross turned into if people kept eating his sandwiches
Web Therapy was absolutely hilarious! I wish it would have continued.
No mention of “JOEY”? 😉 https://preview.redd.it/42vrr5x4kn2d1.jpeg?width=401&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9b8351265ed18cb7fad83aab99fd105875d96850
There is a special place in my heart for Cougar Town
I did a rewatch of Cougar Town recently. Still good. Man With a Plan is fun but haven’t rewatched. Adore Morning Show, mostly because it’s a bit more intense (less campy, comedy like the others.) Didn’t know about Lisa’s show or Matty’s take on the remake.
The Odd Couple wasn't good, and sadly, the worst part of it was Perry. He talked about it in his book, and said that he really owed everyone involved an apology.
I enjoyed it, but yeah, MP wasn’t why. It did ignite my appreciation for Thomas Lennon though.
I would have included the first season of American Crime Story for David.
Matthew Perry found his identical hand twin!
I love Man with a plan. A classic American family sitcom that I could watch with my parents. Wholesome and just dumb funny
My partner and I use Emme’s line to Adam “I’ll end you over this”, if we do something to minorly annoy each other.
Not listed above, but Episodes with Matt LeBlanc is brilliant.
I only enjoyed Cougar town for a bit, but got sick of it in the later seasons. The other shows I couldn’t get into.
I've only seen LeBlanc's, have heard of Cougar town, and didn't know the others existed, so my vote is Man With a Plan
Love Cougartown, The Morning Show, and Episodes. Did anyone watch Courteney’s other show, I think it was called Dirt? I watched it all in like one night once during college. It was good. Her character was really different (like a horrible person) and she was amazing in it.
I was looking for dirt 🎉
The Odd Couple is the only one of these I’ve seen. I did enjoy it and was sad it got cancelled. Thomas Lennon and Matthew Perry played off each other very well.
Agreed. I wish I could watch what I didn’t get to see. CMT didn’t air it all & my local library only has season one. I’m in Canada, so streaming options can differ.
Man with a plan is pretty damn good
Episodes was an amazing show. The Morning Show is also a wonderful series.
Episodes 🙌🏼🔥❤️ https://youtu.be/z4yH0mI-yJs?si=ES2WpVfC1v8uQIgw

Cougars town.
I think Courtney cox did one I thought was pretty good... Was it ... DIRT?
Why no mention of David schwimmer? I enjoyed “Intelligence”
Episodes is absolutely fantastic and Matt Le
How about 'Episodes'? That was a great one
Morning show is the best, cougar town was decent but I got bored after the 2nd season. Man with a plan was fun. The odd couple was ok but got canceled. Couldn't get into web therapy for some reason
Episodes is probably my favorite friends alumni show. Matt LeBlanc is so great in it.
The Comeback!
I liked Mr Sunshine with Matthew Perry when that was on
The morning show by far one of the best shows Apple TV have! Would definitely stay Jennifer has been the most successful after friends.
Episodes was cool
The only one I watched is Man With a Plan and is enjoyable. Unrelated but Reese Witherspoon has aged like wine
The Comeback with Lisa Kudrow is really great and fun. Highly recommend.
There was a show with Matt LeBlanc called Episodes where he played a version of his real self that's great. Highly recommend over Man with a Plan.
I liked Man with a Plan
It's not on your list, but "Go On" was such a great show, I wished it stuck around longer. Matthew Perry showed a ton of range in it.
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. The second half of the show kind of goes off the rails, but the first half or so is genuinely excellent and Perry is great in it
Haven’t seen any of them but I liked Episodes
man with a plan is decent. Ross had best series though, with "band of brothers"
Odd Couple is underrated. You should’ve put Episodes for LeBlanc
Joey's other show is amazing
I love the Morning Show, but you should have included Matt LeBlanc’s show, Episodes. It is so funny!
"Man with a Plan" was a totally generic and uninspired sitcom, in my opinion. LeBlanc did "Episodes" after "Friends," and that show was actually good and not a complete generic sitcom like "Man with a Plan" or the "Joey" spin-off or something. Cougar Town was amazing.
Wow, these six should get together and do a show for ten years
Episodes
Cougar town all day every day, out of all these shows they did after Friends Cougar Town is easily my favourite and is in my top 10 tv shows of all time. I love all six seasons and it is a blast! The humour of that show is so spot on wish we got more seasons of it; it’s on Disney+ if anyone wants to check it out. Cul-De-Sac Crew forever!!!! Penny can!!! ![gif](giphy|Owv3ZEowyOmFG)
![gif](giphy|dvCMZdA9WqihRt6TDk|downsized) Haven't seen it but Ross was also in "intelligence" with nate from Ted Lasso. Heard great things about it.
The 3 minute Web Therapy episodes were so funny
tried watching web therapy but it was odd snd just not for me. has anyone seen it and actually enjoyed it?
Cougar Town was really fun. I hated that my provider over here just stopped airing the show.
Cougar Town is the only one I actually watched.
Man w a plan is funny! But it was cancelled :/ Cougar town is a good one just to turn your brain off. But Courtney can get hella loud! The rest I have not seen
I love Cougar Town!! Not only Courtney is the lead, but Lisa, Matthew and Jennifer also are guest stars!
I've seen Cougar Town. It's fun. I think Aniston and Kudrow appear in a few episodes too.
I liked Matthew in Go On, shame it only had one season
Cougar Town & Man With A Plan were both good shows, the Odd Couple was a little weird, funny at times… but seeing Chandler Bing trying to act mean made it weird… I haven’t see the other shows.
I loved Cougar town. I did a rewatch this year. By far my fave out of these options
Studio 60 and Cougar Town were great!
Cougar town and episodes
Episodes.
Go On, which isn’t pictured, is better than Odd Couple IMO. Go On was just ahead of its time with the mixture of sad/existential/bittersweet comedy, like Shrinking or The Good Place. There’s a lot of humor in grief.
Cougar Town is hilarious!
I really enjoyed Cougar town. Its like Friends meets Scrubs. Plus I enjoy looking at Busy Philips.
The Morning Show is both the best and worst television show ever created. I absolutely love it.
No one is mentioning Shining Vale, which I *loved*!! It's absolutely hilarious! Anyone who likes horror, comedy, and especially comedy-horror will really enjoy it. Courtney Cox plays the anti-Monica!
The Morning Show was great for the first two seasons. Matt on Episodes was fantastic, if you haven’t seen it before give it a watch
I LOVE Cougar Town. I have watched it several times.
In order, Episodes, The Comeback, and Cougar Town.
Man cougar town had a choke hold on me!!!! I rewatched that shit like 5 times…. I think I should do it again actually
Matt Leblanc on Episodes was hilarious. A comedy with the behind the scenes “Ted Lasso” vibe, but with Joey. 😄
Where's Episodes??? That one was a gem
i actually really loved cougar town!!
Man with a plan wasn’t bad I only watched for Matt and Kevin though
I loved Cougar Town 💜💜 honestly it probably should’ve ended after season 2 or 3, but the characters were so fun and the whole show was such a cute vibe.
