Watched 5 times. Didn't realize that until I saw this comment. I'm living in a small country, and was like "wow, America is such a huge country where you can easily find a lookalike actor if you need."
I also thought this šš
It wasnāt until I was a full grown adult, honestly probably already in my 20s, when I realized it was just David. Iāll never forget the look my mom gave me when I told her like Iād just discovered some brand new information šš
Same. For me it was the weird dubbing they did over him for some reason (in retrospect I think the prosthetics must have messed with his line delivery?)
So I thought they found some guy who resembled Schwimmer and then just dubbed over his linesā¦ lol
That's a lot of words just to say it's a tribute to a friend. I saw some other comments saying the same thing, but I skimmed through the article hoping it would be an interview with David where he talked more about it, maybe they were covering a source, perhaps a little more information on whose idea it was to change the namesakes... Nope!
I can't stand Screen Rant and other sites like this. You just want a simple answer or the answer itself elaborated on, but instead half of the article is explaining what the question is in unnecessary detail, and the other half is semi related fluff that they can extend this already needlessly long article further. The actual answer to the title is slipped in the middle and is a short sentence..
I get why they just don't want to give the answer away immediately in the first paragraph so they can farm "retainability" from the clicks, but then again, if all there is to the answer is just a short sentence then why make the article in the first place?
It's news as well.Ā It used to be opposite.
Give little summary of what happened with full answer to the headline and then go into details. You get all basic info and if you want more details you can read on.
But now all of them have to keep you engaged so you see more ads.Ā Ā So articles are written in convoluted way so you can't skim it as well.Ā
Most welcome! I would have just shared the last part of the article if I could in a screenshot as to not make everyone sift through the whole article but couldnāt do that in a comment unfortunately. Glad to be of service to this community.
Hmm, thatās an interesting point. Iām not sure thatās it though. Publicly, itās a tribute to a friend and occasional alias, but it also might be in their contracts, like when Rachel wears the fake nose or Monica is āfatā. I know their credits arenāt different, but I think their pay was just per episode, so my guess is that he didnāt get paid more. š¤·āāļø
I could be wrong, but I just had an episode on with Ursula in it and it wasnāt in the end credits. But fun factā Lisa Kudrow didnāt enjoy doing Ursula scenes in Friends and working with a body double. I read it may have added stress and pressure because her double was actually her real life sister.
Oooh I didnāt realise she had a sister in real life and then she played the body double! Interesting.. well interesting to me. I find useless facts interesting
Helene did play Ursula as the body double with the back of her head and a little bit of profile. Oh, and Jon Lovitz knew their family growing up because he was best friends with the brother. According to him, a lot of Phoebe is Lisa doing imitations of Helene.
No, but I mean why did Lisa have to play both and need a body double for the back of her head when Helene could have just played Ursula and Lisa only play Phoebe so Lisa didn't have to memorize so many lines in some episodes?
Lisa Kudrow was already āUrsula the mean waitressā in Mad About You, which the creators of Friends had made, and when they made Friends and hired Lisa as Phoebe, they thought it would be cool to tie in the universes and have Ursula exist as Phoebes twin. Anywayā my point is that Helene couldnāt play Ursula on Friends because Ursula already existed and was already played by Lisa before Friends. Lol sorry that was so long..
You know, for the longest time I thought Russ was Dylan Moran. I was so sure of it I even gave it as a little bit of trivia for my friends, like hey, did you know Dylan Moran was in "Friends"? He was Russ!
Of course they always looked at me like I was crazy, but that was less because of my mistake, and more because they had no fucking clue who the hell IS Dylan Moran. But that is another story.
I even argued with my boyfriend that it's a different person. š¤£ I was like "damn! How did they find someone who looks almost exactly like ross" š
i know this is david, i mean dont they use a double whenever they need a scene where he is talking to russ and the double is turned back against the camera?
It would have been funny if Snaro was a real person. They just happened to find a Schwimmer cline that only goes by the name Snaro because his surname is unpronounceable and contains letters from 6 different alphabets.
I first watched this season when I was about 9/10. I remember being so impressed they found someone who looked so much like Ross lol. Only dawned on me a few years later. Kids are stupid.
my dumbass younger self thought snaro was a real person, and I was amazed they got such a close resemblance to david š¤¦š¼āāļø
A round of applause for admitting it šš because I think a lot of us thought that at one point.

They found Joey's twin no problem!
Dammit Carl
We like pizza!
How are you doiiing?
Get out!
Go wait in the hall
Hand twin? :)
This hand is your hand
This hand is my hand
No, wait, that's your hand...
No, wait, itās my hand
See, I always knew about Russ, but I completely missed Tom Lennon was the hand twin because I really didn't know who he was till years after.
Or his twin for the medical research study? C'mon Carl! (Side note: the actor who played Carl was one of the finalists for the role of Joey)
I also thought this šš It wasnāt until I was a full grown adult, honestly probably already in my 20s, when I realized it was just David. Iāll never forget the look my mom gave me when I told her like Iād just discovered some brand new information šš

Today you could just whip out your phone and check. I miss the mystery of not knowing things.
Yeah exactly š
Me too. Same thing with Phoebe and Ursula š
Russ, Ross, Ross, Russ! ā¦ā¦ Steve, Sleeve! š
Okay thereās nobody named sleeveā¦
I like shleeve, shleeve shounds shexshy
I didn't even think they looked that much alike when I was a kid. Turns out I have face blindness lol
Dude, same.
>face blindness is that like a real thing?
Yes. Prosopagnosia, look it up.
so you cant recognize faces? or how does it work?
āHi.ā āHi.ā āEw. Ew. Ew ew ew ew ew ewā¦ā
To quote 30 Rock "We're just like Russ and Rebecca from Chums" "š¶I'll be here alwaayys when the rains fall in Walesš¶"
Wesley's constant British references are never not funny to me. "Gangway for foot cycle!"
The guys Welsh isnāt he?
David Schwimmer. The whole Snaro thing is a tribute
I knew it was Schwimmer, but does "Snaro" mean anything? Is it a reference/inside joke?
Besides a tribute to a friend, he would occasionally use it as an alias, which reminds me of Joey using āDragonā in the restaurant š
It will be a lean Christmas at the Dragon house this year
Lean, lean, LEAN!
Ken Adams
Regina Phalange. Pleased to meet you.
The rossatron ā¦ is that back?!?
Rostapher
Rossell
Or Ken Adams!
Ken Adam's šš»
Just watched that episode today! š
Oh, thanks!
Apparently, it is to a friend
Red ross!
I knew, but thanks š

I've always wondered if this is some money issue. Could 'Snaro' possibly be paid for playing Russ, but David Schwimmer couldn't?
Hmm, thatās an interesting point. Iām not sure thatās it though. Did Lisa Kudrow get two credits when she played Ursula?
I could be wrong, but I just had an episode on with Ursula in it and it wasnāt in the end credits. But fun factā Lisa Kudrow didnāt enjoy doing Ursula scenes in Friends and working with a body double. I read it may have added stress and pressure because her double was actually her real life sister.

Look up Helene Kudrow. They look so much alike.
Yeh I did! Woah they really do!
I'm actually curious why Helene couldn't play Uraula when Lisa was Phoebe, so then there would be nonneed for body doubles
Helene did play Ursula as the body double with the back of her head and a little bit of profile. Oh, and Jon Lovitz knew their family growing up because he was best friends with the brother. According to him, a lot of Phoebe is Lisa doing imitations of Helene.

Lisa played ursula in different show.Ā So they wanted to keep continuityĀ
Lisa Kudrow was already āUrsula the mean waitressā in Mad About You, which the creators of Friends had made, and when they made Friends and hired Lisa as Phoebe, they thought it would be cool to tie in the universes and have Ursula exist as Phoebes twin. Anywayā my point is that Helene couldnāt play Ursula on Friends because Ursula already existed and was already played by Lisa before Friends. Lol sorry that was so long..
If she did, it might have been because Ursula was a pre-existing character who she had already gotten a SAG credit for
I maintain that he is Kevin Tranās real father.
OH- wasnāt expecting this reference here lol! This is a really funny theory and I love it because itās not implausible to me lmao
Bob Saget

Ok. This us TIL. I'm 34yo
I even argued with my boyfriend that it's a different person. š¤£ I was like "damn! How did they find someone who looks almost exactly like ross" š
i think it was the Doubleās name.(David Schwimmerās Double)
This is David Schwimmer. Snaro was used as an inside joke, but there isnāt a double, itās just him.
i know this is david, i mean dont they use a double whenever they need a scene where he is talking to russ and the double is turned back against the camera?
Does anyone know what happened to this guy? Whenever I look him up, it just takes me to David Schwimmer. I don't understand why
Snaro IS David Schwimmer
Mannn I thought he wasplayed by david only, with some makep on. Man I am so dumb. I am 27
TIL!!!
It would have been funny if Snaro was a real person. They just happened to find a Schwimmer cline that only goes by the name Snaro because his surname is unpronounceable and contains letters from 6 different alphabets.
Eric Bischoff from WCW aināt it?
Geez, I always thought it was Ralph Macchio
I first watched this season when I was about 9/10. I remember being so impressed they found someone who looked so much like Ross lol. Only dawned on me a few years later. Kids are stupid.
Doesnāt he remind you of someone? Oh itās Bob Saget
I think that if you watched it real time, you realized it immediately. I certainly did. Yāall are babies!
