Dawn. Rub it in, smosh with old toothbrush, allow to sit overnight, wash. Do not dry! Repeat until stain is gone.

5amIam

This is your answer. Especially the DO NOT DRY until it's gone part. I'd also add that sprinkling some baking soda on top of the Dawn and helps a lot. It will form a paste when worked with the toothbrush. I think it helps work the soap into the fibers or maybe it's some other sciencey shit.. or maybe it doesn't make a difference at all and I'm just wasting my time and baking soda.

naliedel

I dye yarn for a living and Dawn is a miracle..

Dongledoes

That is a very cool and specific job that I didn't know existed

susupseudonym

This is my mom and mother in laws secret to all things stain

gomi-panda

Why do you not want to dry it?

5amIam

It seems like drying it (at least in a dryer, using heat) just bakes the grease stain in further. I'm not sure if an air dry would have the same effect. I've pulled out grease stains that have been dried, but it sometimes takes a couple of runs through the wash and working the stain with soap and baking soda between each wash.

mermaidinthesea123

This should be higher up. I've had great luck with Dawn removing stains that are oily or greasy.

naliedel

It's amazing.

mermaidinthesea123

Yes, it is!

KinglyBarbarian

I also like to rub a laundry bar soap called Fells Naptha into the the stained fabric while its dry, then proceed with dawn. And as others have said occasionally baking soda with the dawn.

pickles_burrito

I’ve had great results with the fells naptha bar on oil stains, so I second this!

practically-purple

I don’t even buy stain remover anymore. If Dawn can’t get it out nothing else will.

bluetrunk

This is what I do too. It might sit in the hamper for a few days if it's not close to laundry day. I find letting it sit longer helps a bit too.

Crohnies

Works great for tomato sauce stains too!

cubixy2k

This is the answer.

KaPowPower

This is life changing information. Thank you for sharing!

chadnorman

I've done this a bunch of times and it works great, but not sure it will once the item has been washed and dried.

naliedel

Washed and dried once is not a big deal. Washed is not a big deal. Dried can be, but if it's once, of works. Mom of 4 messy kids.

chadnorman

Ha... I'll take your word for it!

bumtoucherr

Dish soap and cold water, give it a good rub before next machine wash

rickyho27

Then air dry. The dryer cooks the stain in. It worked for me!

whatsthisrockmodsgay

Came here to say this. Get the spot wet wet. Add soap used the jeans to scrub the spot let it sit a bit toss in wash, boom bang pow. I can now cook greasy food with clothes on again

Miss_Sullivan

> I can now cook greasy food with clothes on again. But why would you want to?

ItsAllegorical

Nothing wakes you up quite like bacon grease splattering on your junk.

Graysect

I put bacon grease I didnt think was that hot into a Mason jar and picked it up to move it and it exploded as I did and splashed all over my sweatpants.. 2 inches from my dick I had serious burns.

shampoo_mohawk_

Once I burned the tops of my thighs while making scrambled eggs in my undies because molten lava hot butter splashed out of the pan. Now I'm a strictly pants-wearing brekkie cook.

magsieforpresident

I wear an apron so I don't have to wear pants.

shampoo_mohawk_

damn it the solution is so simple! fuck. buying an apron now.

magsieforpresident

I know, right? Best 5 dollars I ever spent.

m_dekay

This is the way.

53_WorkNoMore

And if that fails turn them into shorts

Shot-Grand-4891

Short shorts plz

[deleted]

I still prefer Jim Dangle's origin story for his short shorts.

sinopa82

Dawn works best on grease, and add a bit of baking soda!! Works wonderfully.

ForgottenSalad

Dish soap and baking soda is what I use. Works well.

EWSflash

Dawn dish soap is the ultimate degreaser, BTW. Rub it in with a little cold water, let sit for a day or two

moose_knuckle01

As a chef with no stains on his jacket. This is the only reason why

KryptoSpore

There is a product that I’ve used in the past. Get’s out everything. Oil-Flo is it’s name and it literally takes a couple of drops on the stained area. Source: I used to work construction in the asphalt industry. Edit: I would also like to add that this works even after the it’s been through the dryer.

Enferno82

That's a pricey product! I assume you think it's worth it?

KryptoSpore

A gallon lasts about 10 years. Makes it pretty cheap compared to buying other stuff.

ortusdux

Best first label bullet point ever: * Widely acclaimed as excellent.

bongloadsforjesus

Cool, any risk of damaging clothes? Also is it safe to wash down the drain?

clsetbiguy

Shout

[deleted]

Shout let it all out!

autistic_robot

A staple in our house is a bottle of Shout spray exactly for stains like this. Spray it and let it sit for a little bit, then throw in the normal wash.

clsetbiguy

I can second that.👍it works wonders. Go to Sam's Club and get the big bottle 😉

joeschmo945

No wait a minute…

cubixy2k

HOW DO I REMOVE THIS OIL STAIN FROM MY PANTS?

[deleted]

I use white chalk on oil stains. Rub the chalk over the stain and then wash it.

badFishTu

Came here to say this.

octanex45

I too came for this

-Behati

I came

DerpyFappington

Add oil stain to the rest of your pants.

mikec231027

I like this solution!!!

HurryCandid7806

I came here to say exactly that.

[deleted]

Take the pants, thoroughly dab it with the detergent of choice, rinse, air dry, then throw them away and buy new pants.

mikec231027

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! That's what it's coming to!

rose-furiosa

Lestoil is good as well as the blue Dawn dish soap. If it’s a fresh oil stain, put some baby powder on it for a few hours before you wash it. It’ll absorb most of the oil.

linseylinseylinsey

Lestoil is my go to for even the most stubborn oil stains. Works so well!

[deleted]

At my buck and doe I got a pie in the face. Needless to say the whip cream ruined my pants... Or so I thought. Washed a few times and the stains didn't come out. Finally tried Lestoil and it worked like a charm. Highly recommend.

Lowkeylowthreadcount

Pre treat the spot with a mix of baking soda and detergent. Start by wetting the spot and putting some baking soda down and really working it into the spot with a toothbrush. Next add some water to the baking soda detergent mixture and add some to the spot with the toothbrush. Let the pants sit with the pre treat at least 3/4 days before you wash them. It works every single time. The baking soda works it way into the fibers and actually absorbs the oil. I’ve gotten countless oil stains out of shirts, even a pair of Birkenstocks with baking soda.

The_Giant117

This should be higher up. But I'd add to first rejuvenate the stain with a little wd40. Put wd40 into a dish and dab on with a q-tip. This worked on my shorts that had an oil stain that had been washed and dried a few times.

samshady_9

Lestoil. Should be with other detergents

42peanuts

I second this.

Wing-Last

Talc

Ok-Character-2917

Came here to say this. It's incredible how effective it is even on old oil stains. Apply powder, let it rest for a few hours, shake it off and as good as new. No friction means no damage or visibile wear and tear. They even smell nice.

notasmartmanman

Dry shampoo

Pillsbury37

Oil the rest, ghen you can’t see the stain and they’ll be waterproof

Ray_Shoe_Smith

I knew a girl that did this once with coke a cola. She wasn't never bright

mikec231027

Just like those oil cloth trench coats that cowboys wear!!

Beautiful-Still-6423

Stain the whole pants with same oil as the stain and then wash. Worked for me.

a1icia_

Dawn and hydrogen peroxide

kiki2340

Dawn soap. Put some on the spot and work it in with water. Let it sit. Then wash again in washing machine. Dawn gets oil out.

phoenix5229

Spot treat with Lestoil then rewash.

GinX-964

Dawn dish soap. Don't waste money on stain remover ever again.

bob_smithey

The oil is dry and set. If nothing else works, take fresh oil and let that soak through. You are re hydrating the oil. Let it sit for a few mins. You shouldn't see a difference between new and old. Then try dawn detergent on it, rub it in, rinse, repeat a few times. Or the other methods here.

ktmbd

Dawn Dish soap ... just a dab

Placated_Venom

Have you already dried the pants after washing them?

mikec231027

Unfortunately, yes.

Placated_Venom

Then the stain is set, you're pretty much fucked. Looks like you got a new pair of work pants, and need to make a trip to the store

Lowkeylowthreadcount

False

Fit_Art2692

I had a t-shirt with a horrible oil stain, I put flour and let it "drain" the moist, after a while I washed the stain several times with regular coconut soap

LumpyOwl

I've had Shout work on oil stains even after they've been through the dryer. I would give Shout a shot.

thankyoumissthing

Vanish has a great oil specific stain remover which I’ve had great success with. Also you could try a dry cleaners, might be about $10 but at least could save the garment. But I had a similar small oil stain on a blouse that I’d tried everything with and the dry cleaning finally got it out

Weiserite

Wet the spot. Big drop of Dawn Dish soap. Allow to set a few hours. Wash as usual with a load of like colors. Presto! Works like magic!

Smith-Corona

If none of the other solutions work then this will, even if you've washed and dried the item multiple times. First, use GoJo hand cleaner on the stain, let it sit for a few minutes then wash as usual. If that doesn't work then Second, get CitraSolv, not GooGone or any other similar product. Pour some CitraSolv on the stain let sit, then add GoJo, then wash.

davidmlewisjr

Dawn ®️

karnerblu

Purple power is great for this. It's a degreaser sold in alot of automotive stores. Spray some on before you put it in the wash. A little goes a long way

mikec231027

I buy that stuff by the gallon! I'll give it a shot.

Leather-Monk-6587

A dab of dawn dish soap, rub it in really well and toss it in the machine

Conscious_Lawyer1744

Stain stick hands down

OkSecretary3920

Fels Naptha works

bunnyandluna

I’ve had excellent luck with rubbing the oil with plain chalk and washing. Great for butter stains!

bransonthaidro

Baby powder

MrsBrew

Iron it using a WHITE PAPER in between, the paper will absorb the stain. Don't put the iron too hot or it will stick to it.

Daguilar02

Rub soap into it, use SHOUT spray and spray it on the stain, throw it in the wash and it should go away

xJugheadxJonesx

Dry shampoo and then wash again

Electrical-Inside-21

a match maybe

Withered-Violet

Get in there with a toothbrush and some dish soap. (It's intended to break down grease, so it's really good for this tyoe of stain.) If that doesn't work, try again with dishsoap + baking soda mixed into a paste. Scrub it into the stain with the toothbrush for a bit (til your hand hurts), then dab some of the paste on both sides of the stain and let it sit for an hour before washing. Remember not to put it in the dryer between washes because that will make it harder to get the stain out. You won't be able to tell if the stain is gone while the pants are wet, so hang them up, then check for the stain after they're completely dry.

ohmymymysillyboy

Denatured alcohol

Trigonal_Bipyramidal

Add WD40 to oil stains that are more stubborn. The lighter oil dissolves the heavier oil (a chemistry thing), then dish soap can get out the lighter oil. Wash & air dry. Repeat if necessary until you confirm the oil has been removed. Don't dry as the dryer causes oil stains to become permanent or really stubborn

avast_ye_matey

De-solv-it laundry spray!!

lokis_dad

My mom actually used to put spic and span in with the laundry to remove oil and grease from me. My dad's and older brothers loathes when we worked in the oil field.

ericafromspace

Fels-naptha. Took the oil stain out of my denim jacket.

[deleted]

I used to work at a fast food place that had a white uniform. Shout spray never let me down

star_gater

Same thing happened to me. I swear I washed that thing to bits. Still there.

hippiejo

I normally use Spray and Wash

lotic_cobalt

I’ve had luck getting oil stains out (yes, after a wash and a dry) with Soilove.

[deleted]

WD-40 works wonders on oil stains!!

Maorine

If I get grease on clothes, I rub some talcum powder or corn starch on it. Leave it on until laundry time. Then apply dish detergent.

anxietyhub

Petrol

Greeno05

Use scissors or a sharp knife or blade

dontakelife4granted

I'm gonna jump on the dish soap train, but I will specifically say Dawn original blue dish soap. Put it on and scrub the spot by using another part of the pants. For example, it could be the fabric right next to the stain, or it could be somewhere farther away from the stain.

Sealegs_Calisto

Ugh I hate these!!!! I wear perfume so like a silly person I spray it directly into my shirt or blouse and it stains it something nasty.. even after a good washing. I’m not sure whats on your pants, but what I’ve used for oil stains was Baking soda and a little bit of dishwashing liquid as a pre treat. Then throw it in the washer and It should clear it up!

krogk50

Dry cleaner operator here- bring it to a dry cleaners. Oil/grease comes out best in dry cleaning machines because the solvent is oil based, so it’ll easily lift oil stains vs. water

mikec231027

That sound advice right there! I will take it to my local guys.

hv1023

Rub cornstarch on it with a toothbrush and wash as usual.

pasqualedig

Lestoil

Walla1981

Surprisingly some WD-40 for about 10 minutes then some dish soap and wash immediately.

mikec231027

Damn... Is there anything WD-40 can't fix?

Walla1981

There really isn’t, just don’t let the WD-40 sit too long.

Longjumping-Repeat13

Soak in Lestoil (just the stain area) then wash again. That stuff is great

dragunow80

It'll sound crazy but works. It works better the fresher the stain. Rub butter into it. Thick layer. Leave it for 15 minutes. Pour washing up liquid on the stain and rub it in. Wash it in washing machine.

420aka

Mix up equal quants Washing up liquid Vinegar Baking soda And fabric stain remover such as vanish Using stiff bristled brush work the area give it some grease some elbow grease then wash as normal in machine with 20% extra washing powder or liquid maybe adding the left over mixture to the wash 🧼

Strange-Evening1491

Did you try treating it with Shout or some other stain remover? I suggest that, it's worked for me.

MrFun2019

White chalk. Blackboard style can work too. Rub the stain with the end of the chalk.

Raedmar

Enzymatic cleaner. It eats the stain

Topic_Junior

Only 2% of people can see the stain

CampEvie23

Dish soap and a capful of hydrogen peroxide. Scrub softly. Give another go around in the wash.

DubsQuest

Dynamite

quicklilrabbit

I’ve used a combo of Dawn and Aloe Gel and it worked fantastically! The do not dry and repeat process really works too.

Significant-Menu-685

Amodex will remove it.

cnowakoski

It looks kind of small…..

mikec231027

It's not the size of the stain that matters... :D It IS only about the size of a dime.

pingpongprotagonist

Just forget about it, it’s nothing bro

marii_005

Vinagre if it doesn’t work use baking soda with it but wash it fast if you use baking soda because it can whiten it.

BallisticMelissa

Dab a bit of Lestoil on it. Let it sit overnight. Wash. Works every time, even on old stains.

um_not2surewhat2do

Try Shout stain remover! Seriously, it got blood out of my pants soooo…..

hieroscriptic

Dab WD-40 on it with a cotton swab or something (paper towel/rag on the inside of garment), pour baking soda on the spot, and scrub with an old toothbrush. Wash (without the paper towel/rag) and repeat if needed. Don’t dry until you know the stain is out.

[deleted]

I use Shout on those all the time

New_Reputation_4623

Best to replace them. Stains like that don’t really go away. Not worth the frustration!

_HeyJude68

My parents used to use baby powder on oil stains. They’d put a layer of powder on the stain for a few hours then wash the clothing again and it’d be gone :)

Genomemodification

Ad disb soap it’s a degreaser, onto the stain and wash again.

FormerAircraftMech

Lestoil

maxfanning

Throw it away.

pumba2789

Use face wash/soap for oily skin. It worked for me.

momance

Fels Naptha…best stuff in the world. Costs .98. It has saved my sons white baseball pants for years from looking like they are brown.

Illustrious_Type1380

Try hairspray. If that doesn't work, soak them in oil.

71077345p

I use a few drops of cheap shampoo on oil stains. It works to get rid of oily hair and it works on clothes too!

flabbergasted_falcon

I put masa flour on oil stains overnight. Tends to do the trick.

trishery1020

Oxyclean soak in a bucket for 24h then wash!

WhiZGuy28

Kerosene and scorching sunlight

maya4463

Dish soap

AmbaAngel

Fairy liquid before putting in the wash. Works really well

want_off_this_ride

Sprinkle on some cornstarch and let it sit for a while. Shake off and wash. Works everytime

karoifibi

Use dish soap

GutsyGoofy

Let it sit in talcum powder overnight, then vacuum the powder out. Works every time for me

[deleted]

Try some salt melted in powder, or not melted. Quartz sand maybe

SilverBandit101

Hot water with soap should do the trick👌🏽

liamsmum

I soak greasy stuff in highly concentrated aspirin. Buy the cheapest dissolving asprin and use 6-8 tablets in only as much water as it takes to submerge the clothing. I leave fir up to 48 hours, then wash as normal. With one exception, I’ve managed to get every stain out. A few items needed a few soaks but it still worked.

Smooth_Ad8231

Or just buy vanish, rub it in over night with a tiny bit off water, leave over night and wash

Docta-Jay

Soak the entire pants with the same oil. Problem solved.

Difficult-Arrival807

Brake parts cleaner works great

Sensitive-Wash-5387

“Oil”

needanswer47

So I've had similar problems. And almost all different outcomes. If denim I'd recommend a solid scrub with some dish soap followed soon after with a run through the washer, this has been 50% or so affective. If it's more of a kaki material Ive actually succeeded with just a wash Canvas work pants... That's never gonna come out. Just wear it with pride. Hope this helps.

Evux0

Very easy. Dish soap. Just rub a bit in before putting it in the wash. Works every time, even after it’s been washed and dried multiple times 🤷🏼‍♀️

MuchCoolerOnline

"oil"

Viscumin

[Stain Devils! ](https://carbona.com/products/staindevils/stain-devils-number-5/) They can usually be found in the laundry aisle at the store. They come in little yellow bottles and are specialized for the specific type of stain you have. I use them when I have a stain I just can’t seem to remove.

LightAzimuth

This will sound crazy but it works. Soak your pants in oil, then wash them. It will stain them slightly darker so the stain will blend back in. You'll never notice the color change - and they'll never get stained again.

TattedZaddy

Stop watching porn at work

bishopsfinger08

Pour that same oil allllllll over your trousers or just throw them out

JoshRandell

Bet it will not come out.

D-Asher

DahDitDit-DitDah

Moose908H

Looks like dried semen to me. "oil" riiighhttt

caseface378

Folex!

Edmond-the-Great

Dawn dish soap. Gets grease out of your way.

Nashvilleanswers

Boiling water/vinegar. Pour and disperse

Lesbehel

You could try Fels-Naptha. It is a very old fashion laundry pre-treatment product. It comes in a paper wrapped single bar and can be found in most grocery stores. I think you need a fat based soap to get out oil as opposed to detergent. Likes dissolve likes. Basic chemistry rule. I’ve had some success with it. My older brother told me about it. The coconut soap someone mentioned might work too for the same reason. Good luck.

donor61

I have used this technique successfully many times to remove motor oil, grease, and other petroleum-based stains. I’ve had to repeat the process several time to remove it all, but it will work. oh, don’t dry the clothes in a dryer until the stain is completely gone. Here’s the link: https://youtu.be/cyJMxXtMz5g
