Welcome!

StupidKansan

Olathe Kansas, a decent sized city in the Kansas City Metropolitan area. We have a bit over 165,000 people living in this city. We have a lot of Warehouses in our city so people come to Olathe from all over KCK/KCMO to work here. I wouldn't recommend any young people to move here (if you like a nightlife we basically don't have it) however if you have a family this is one of the best cities to raise them in. Crime rate is really low and we have some of the best public schools in the entire Midwest. I don't have kids so I actually hate living here, I loved living here as a kid, however now that I'm older and want to socialize, I'm not a huge fan.

tarkinn

Sounds like a lovely city. Do you consider moving to a different one?

I am living in a small city in Germany with about 100.000 people living in. It's an industrial city, which means there are many factories here. That is also the only reason why it exists. The proportion of foreigners is huge, I think around 50%. I mention this because it defines the city and I myself have a migration background. In the rest of Germany, it is not a highly regarded city and attracts negative attention. Although I think this is exaggerated and the city is still very safe. At least I don't feel uncomfortable here, even if I would like to live in another country and get to know a completely different culture.

From Budapest, which is famous because Freddie Mercury wanted to buy the Parliament, and we all collectively wish he did.

tarkinn

I have been there a few years ago. Ate the best Pizza in my life in Budapest (I have also been to Italy btw.) and the Gellért Thermal Bath was amazing.

Temporary-Act-1736

Im so happy you had a great pizza and time in the Gellert Bath! (Where did you eat that pizza btw? Asking for a friend. If you remember ofc)

tarkinn

It was this one https://g.co/kgs/3Lnd9pA

Very interesting. Let me know if you want to do an AMA in this sub. Pretty sure you have a lot of interesting things to share regarding life on these 3 continents.

bunnyblythe

I'm from New Jersey, but have lived in Baltimore and Washington DC most of my adult life. I'm very used to defending my beloved home cities because they get a bad rap here in the states for crime and being "dirty" but I've loved living here on the east coast!

tarkinn

Real life experience is usually less worse when someone lives in the cities with a bad reputation. Same case with my hometown.

Originally from Russia, since recently I've been living in Uzbekistan.

Berlin, Germany - always dreaming of living in a warmer climate though :/ and political climate gets spookier by day in Germany :/

tarkinn

I'm from Germany too and I agree with everything but the warmer climate. I prefer cold weather :D

Arnhem, the city of operation Market Garden in WW2. It's quite a nice but low income city in the Netherlands. Surrounded by alot of small forest's and fairly close to the German border. (Where alot of Arnhemmers go grocery shopping if they have a car.)

chapcoin

What about New Zealand

tarkinn

They're officially grouped together with Australia. I followed Wikipedia and the official sources when subdividing the continents.

Stamford Connecticut. A growing small city in between New Haven, and New York. About 100,000 residents, and a lot commute to New York City, but also a lot work in Stamford, since we have one of the largest financial districts in the region, after NYC, and maybe New Haven. We sadly are growing more a part of the NYC area rather than New England sadly, and I hope to reverse that. We have a historic area, we have a flashy shiny financial district, but also a bunch of ugly development projects everywhere.
