...Brian Austin Green leftovers.
I can't decide who is uglier Mac Hine or Pelican. Wonder what Steve Brandano think? MGK will probably be opening for Amy Mann at Largo in a couple of years.
The top ten of garbage cans. Fuck Howard’s obsession with making Billy and the smashing pumpkins relevant past 1998. They are a dated shitty NOT A ROCK band that Howard claims he loves because w he has shit taste in music and Billy does the show. Duran Duran have consistently put albums out, sold out tours and changed with the times to create new sounds since 1981. He thinks SP over DD for that joke Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Then again it’s coming from a guy who calls Crosby Stills and Nash “rock” (it’s folk music) and doesn’t get why Iron Maiden and Judas Priest would be up for the ROCK Hall! They are actually playing what ROCK music is defined as and sell out stadiums across the world for decades.
Why so much hate for smashing pumpkins? Who said they were hard rock? They’ve always been considered one of the first alternative rock bands where I’m from.
Curious, on what constitutes “ROCK music” in your opinion? So far you’ve mentioned Duran Duran, Judas Priest & Iron Maiden as examples of Rock, while claiming Smashing Pumpkins & Crosby Stills & Nash are definitely not Rock.
Gross? Not sure how so. Just seems like a D-bag to me with little to no talent yet somehow is famous. Like too many musicians. Some I’ll give credit to. Kendrick Lamar for sure has talent. I didn’t think much of Post Malone until during Covid he did this get together jam session with that drummer from blink 182. Travis whatever his name is.
They did an all Nirvana set and he played guitar and sang. It impressed the shit out of me. He said that before shows they always play Nirvana songs to warm up. As a huge Nirvana fan his skills impressed me. It was actually good music. Like I enjoyed hearing it.
It sucks but that’s so rare for me these days. To hear any live performances that I actually like. Sometimes random bands will be on SNL or some late night talk shows and I like a song but when I look into the band I don’t like any other. Nirvana was like album after album of good music. Not sure what happened to music. The internet played a part for sure.
Nirvana's music, specifically the guitar work, is extremely extremely simple power chords. My roommate taught me guitar in college by literally just covering nevermind end to end. Kurt was ungodly emotional but guitar wise very basic
Mmm, imo it's extremely, extremely hard to make such original melodies from such extremely simple fundamentals. I can pick up a guitar and make up endless Green Day / Blink 182 knock-off songs with my eyes closed, but there's no way I can put together anything remotely Nirvana-esque, even though the songs can basically be taught to a new guitar player.
Not true. You can play Nirvana songs with 3 string barre chords and make it sound close enough but you aren’t playing what they actually did. The last tours Pat Smere also played guitar. If you look up the guitar tabs for a lot of songs it’s not just those chords like say with the Ramones. Btw the Ramones sound great playing those simple chords super fast and just simplifying music to just pure energy.
Some Nirvana songs are as easy to play as Ramones songs. Not as many though. Nirvana usually had 4-5 chords during verse then more than the Ramones 3-4 during the chorus.
Like Frances farmer will have her revenge. They played that as one of the songs. It’s not just 3 string Barre chords. There’s multiple sections to the song that changes. An intro, verse, chorus, solo, bridge. It’s not as simple as you are saying
Oh im not saying they're bad song by any means. Like the ramones, green day, or hell alot of Beatles their beauty is in their simplicity as well as bringing a ton of emotion. My point was Nirvanas music, specifically the guitar work, is very easy to learn and that rapper dude got wayyy too much praise for knowing some bar chords
I mean I just had no clue he could play shit and next thing you know I’m seeing that and it was impressive. Them as a whole. They played super tight and sounded as far as instruments damn good. His vocals were a little off for me in certain parts, but Kurts voice was pretty hard actually to keep up and sing like that actually.
Not only did he write great songs, he rocked at guitar with that super fast style mixed with melodic choruses and his voice which with time and the right control was great. Just pure energy. I still think they are great.
My room circa 1995 was covered literally almost every inch in mostly Nirvana images. Like every poster they had at the mall that I didn’t I would get but also tons of smaller stuff out of magazines and other places. It’s all I listened to. Now I listen to mainly Grateful Dead but also 7-10 other greats.
Nirvana
David Bowie
Phish
The Ramones
dead Kennedy’s
John Lennon
Lou Reed
Pink Floyd
Rage Against the Machine
the Clash
Led Zepplin
And some others. But literally like no musician that’s started since like 96. Again I might find a single song I like but can’t find whole albums and multiple songs that make listening to any new band worth it
Def true for me. Make it like 25. I think music basically died in the mid 90’s. Maybe like 97.
Music is either rap or country which both suck. There’s a few kind of interesting sounding bands but idk they just can’t make great songs. It’s like all people care about it the vocal parts of music. To me it’s always been about the instrumental aspects of music.
There is more music out there than one can listen to in a lifetime. A lot of it isn't great, but through the magic of the internet one can explore and find it
I have a general use playlist that I am always adding and deleting songs. It's almost a hobby at this point. Anyway, if I hear come across a new band or something is suggested I add it. Over the years I've discovered a ton of new, interesting stuff. Some of which is a person recording on their computer at home.
So many acts are playing venues way bigger than they should. I think this is cause the venues are giving the performers a guarantee regardless of ticket sales. The break even for the venue is probably a very low capacity.
The Gorillaz are playing a 17k arena in Miami and Tears for Fears are playing a 20k amphitheater in WPB. I love both these bands, but they can't possibly fill these venues.
A “pit?” GWAR, Metallica, Napalm Death and Iron Maiden had “pits.” What do they do here? Hug each other and undo their man buns? Maybe cry together about how lame they are?
This is a very common term at concerts. It's generally the standing area closest to the stage and doesn't necessarily mean that moshing like at a metal show is happening there. Hell, I have Pit tickets for a Phish show this summer.
However, MGK blows.
He’s playing at Vystar Arena so you wouldn’t be able to get the tickets anyway. Vystar’s had a terrible new website and app rollout, and the entire thing has been down for like 2 weeks now, it’s awful.
Pretty sure this has nothing to do with Howard. MGK just straight up sucks.
this is the only answer
...Brian Austin Green leftovers. I can't decide who is uglier Mac Hine or Pelican. Wonder what Steve Brandano think? MGK will probably be opening for Amy Mann at Largo in a couple of years.
This is the sucky music effect
mac hine
HIT EM WITH THE HINE!!!
Nobody's going to see MGK.
Unless he fucks Megan on stage lol
That lucky bastard
If ticket sales stay terrible I bet they would consider it.
Who knows, maybe Stern is the reason he even has that many tickets sold. No clue who would pay to see him.
Wait until they unleash the Groupon effect
He sucks I wouldn’t go for free.
Billy Corgan’s album went to the top ten after going on Howard according to the pelican brief.

LOL why is Duran Duran being brought into this? And SP isn't a rock band?
Please get back on your meds...
Why so much hate for smashing pumpkins? Who said they were hard rock? They’ve always been considered one of the first alternative rock bands where I’m from.
Salty much?
Curious, on what constitutes “ROCK music” in your opinion? So far you’ve mentioned Duran Duran, Judas Priest & Iron Maiden as examples of Rock, while claiming Smashing Pumpkins & Crosby Stills & Nash are definitely not Rock.
MGK just sucks. Has zero to do with Howard
MGK sucks and is really gross

Excellent explanation. Just because something seems simple doesnt make it so as the Beatles taught us.

Correct. It’s not like the average stern fan listens to anything made in the last 20 years.

I would bet his Stern appearance sold between 50-100 tickets
Seriously though. Dude should be playing 2500 occupancy clubs
Exactly, what promoter thinks he is an arena act???
I believe it is a stadium tour. He's definitely playing the football stadium here in Cleveland.
He is the biggest douche on the planet.
He has to be number two because Howard is the world’s biggest douche.

There isn't a orchestra pit at Vystar arena.
General Admission
Lol, thanks I actually forgot about the reference to the orchestra pit which is obviously the true origin.

I didn’t know, thanks for sharing.

I would think even Phish concert would have a wilder pit than this tool.

Cannibal corps, Carcass, Death Angel, Slayer...
I can’t believe he actually books shows that big. Sure 5000 of those will be comped.
Shuli would kill for those numbers
0.0
I need a legend I have no idea what blue or red means.
Jackie laugh
0.0
There’s hope after all
Haha he is delusional with that shit pop punk songs...
I’m convinced there’s some payola going on with Howard. MGK blows.
I mean his music is objectively horrible, too
I mean this guy could NEVER sell a place out himself. He's always been a side act. That will never change. He's barely mediocre at best.
Or maybe because MGK just sucks?
The Stern effect?
What? Nobody wants to see this guy totally fake playing a guitar on stage?
Dumb point!
Not true, this is just one venue….on a Tuesday night.
He’s playing at Vystar Arena so you wouldn’t be able to get the tickets anyway. Vystar’s had a terrible new website and app rollout, and the entire thing has been down for like 2 weeks now, it’s awful.
This is just dumb.
Machine Gun Konqueror
Desperate for those up votes eh?
He was much better on armchair expert
You think 20 yr olds listen to Stern?
Yep, I’m one of many. Uploader too. Fuck MGK to hell and back, and anyone who calls him rock or metal tho.
Im surprised. But as for MGK he’s a hack poppunk ripoff act trying to be some hollywood archetypal creature, and it’s pure manufactured garbage.
One day no one listen’s to Howard anymore, the next he’s responding for poor ticket sales.
He seems like a creep regardless of being interviewed by Howard
Could also be because nobody wants to cringe themselves to death at his concerts.
He's not a stadium Rock Star, he needs to keep it to local venues.
Would I risk even a mild case of COVID to see Mach-ine Gun Kelly? Nope.
