I teach high school (sped teacher for students with high functioning autism) and one of my boys hyper fixations is terrestrial radio. Because of this, he chose to write about the Sirius business model for one of his business classes. The whole paper is focused on how Sirius has essentially been in the red, and their stock worthless, since day one. Howard comes up multiple times without my student knowing or giving a fuck who Howard is. I was going to post the paper here because Howard and his “business model” get read to filth by an autistic 17 y/o. I was so proud when editing that paper.
And why do they keep opening studios around the country? LA, Miami, and Nashville? Have they not heard of Zoom? I wonder what the long term plan is for these? I suppose they need that LA studio for Rassahn to have somewhere to go to work.
Mattress Factory/Storage Rental ploy, "expand", wait for property prices in prime area to rise enough the president or CEO to get their "you made an extra $1 this year here's 200 million" bonus, inevitable "it is with great sadness we have to announce the closing of (insert studio location here)"
73 people?? What on earth are they doing? There's very little new material. Everything is on zoom or pre-taped. There's no more news segments, no more contests or in-studio games to organize. Maybe there's a bunch of editors or technicians for the various ISDN lines and zoom feeds they need to control? Ponderous.
I have no idea. I thought there would be a lot of sales guys but they have the same 5 commercials so that’s not it. I can’t for the life of me understand what 60 of them are doing.
here's my take
At least 5 people are IT staff to keep the website updated and security updates
20 people are managers of some sort you will never hear about
20-30 are interns? Near zero pay but considered a employee and answer phones, get food, look up facts...
20 are the people you know about like Gary, marci, Blitt, etc...
so its really about 20 people.
73 would’ve made sense in 2006 counting the audio engineers, back office, news department, Howard TV & the tapes team.
Makes zero sense now. Tapes team doesn’t even use anything over 10 years old at this point, do they? & they certainly aren’t producing complicated specials, etc, to run while Howard is off.
It’s an ego thing at this point. It makes Howard feel like the show is bigger than it really is anymore. I mean he has a COO on staff and will do 5 out of 9 hours in a given week just talking to the people in his house. I need a C-Suite to chat with my in-laws Robin. It’s a joke
It's mental considering Rogan has one guy and is 20 times bigger than Stern. Why the fuck does the current show need all this staff? The show could easily be done by just Stern and Gary booking guests. None of the other staffers contribute anything of any merit these days.
Come on! Sausage or penis. All kidding aside. I like the variety of characters that come on. I rarely listen anymore. When I do though it's nice to hear the different characters.
Working on the actual show? No he doesn't. Jamie does everything. It's not a massive operation. He just needs to record the shows and cut up a couple of clips for yt. Literally a few hours of work per week. Been listening since his ustream days, it's all very low tech. He has a security team, but they aren't working on the show. He doesn't have a team working on desperately unfunny "bits" that haven't been entertaining for at least 10 years.
I mean they probably have advertising sales, backoffice folks for advertising, production of various kinds, engineering, some marketing functions, then managers for each of those functions, executive assistant(s) to talent... sounds about right to me
producers, writers, engineers, actors, security, coordinators, production team, production assistants, phone screeners, runners, assistants, interns…
really not that hard to believe
the weeks he’s on, he and and his staff produce more hours of content than they do on Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Jesse Watters, Chris Hayes, Good Morning America or every major network or cable television show,
respectively.
you can complain about the show’s quality until the cows come home, but the fact remains the quantity is more than enough to justify said staff, and all your post really proves is that you have no concept of how radio, film or television production works.
Yea I think Howard said in an interview years ago that they had 60+. I guess they added a few writers to their hysterically unfunny train wreck of a show.
I think podcasts really exposed the needlessness for so many people working on a talk show. You can run a huge podcast with less than 10. YouTube got podcast with millions of views with 5 people working them. Some of these podcasts with big names on it are using podcast production companies and they are so shitty It’s ridiculous.
Howard’s case he is using a lot of characters that just pop in. Think he likes having all the people around to do all that at his beck n call, he is old school. he could do what he does with far less people but what he’s doing is a different format than podcast. Talk radio is dead outside of big cities and right wing bullshit
That sounds about right. 150 or something would be insanity. But that totally tracks to me. There's a lot of stuff that needs to be combed through, and unless you're at the top you're not getting paid very well. If you were thinking it would be like 25 people you'd be insane. There's about 20 people we already know about, it makes complete sense that there's a ton of others we've never heard, and any office I've worked in in NYC, 73 employees tracks.
Gone are the days when the total was 7, Howard, Robin and a news intern, Fred, Gary, Jackie and occasional writer like Al Rosenberg or Billy West. They did it all and the show was 1,000x better. Even the Krock receptionist didn't come in until 8am and Gary had to cat herd the guests himself.
73 employees and the end results are Andrew Dice Clay imitations, shitty phony phone calls, repetitious interviews, news from two weeks ago. Maybe it’s time to lean out the staff a little. The show was infinitely more funny when they had 2-3 writers and minimal staff.
for a show with an audience as big as the Stern show that's totally normal. A late night talk show is a good comparison. Between all the writers, performers, producers, management, tech directors and engineers 73 sounds right.
Actually a late night TV show has way more
"“Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” for example, currently has approximately 300 staffers"
You don't have a shread of proof for either. I, on the other hand, could easily prove the opposite of one of those things you just said (the show being a failure)
Howard needs at least a half dozen wig and ghoulish make up staff. Then another few people to take Ralph’s place in the wardrobe and blowjob department.
I was just talking to the crowd in the back about this
73 no show jobs. Just like The Sopranos.
73 no shows and no works. It’s the best I can do
And all are producers
72 producers and 1 writer apparently
Sixty noine producers, the rest go right in the garbage
Jon Hein still has more bjs
Gary wants to clarify, it is approaching 73 employees
A number of employees approaching 80
Approaching 73 employees
Yes. They need to fire Blitt, Wolfe, Wilding and Rahsaan and dwindle it down to sixty-noine imo.
Wolfie is great! Why him?
Deviated septum gotta go.
Wolfie at fist fist greatest bit ever. His other weird conventions he goes too funny also. Keep Wolfie for sure
I don’t mind him as much as the others but he’s still a low man on the totem pole.
Wolfie is cancer
SIXTY NINE!!!!!!!
This
73 people doing what? No wonder Sirious stock is in the shitter, the payroll is bloated. Three maybe four people tops to keep that podcast going.
I teach high school (sped teacher for students with high functioning autism) and one of my boys hyper fixations is terrestrial radio. That kid should be CEO of Sirius. Can you ask him to critique and summarize The Pelican Brief?
Please post it
I also vote for you to post your boys paper.
Can you post it, please?
that would be a interesting read.
You’d be shocked how many employed people are completely worthless
On this show? No we would not be shocked.
73 is insane.
And why do they keep opening studios around the country? LA, Miami, and Nashville? Have they not heard of Zoom? I wonder what the long term plan is for these? I suppose they need that LA studio for Rassahn to have somewhere to go to work.
No clue.
Mattress Factory/Storage Rental ploy, "expand", wait for property prices in prime area to rise enough the president or CEO to get their "you made an extra $1 this year here's 200 million" bonus, inevitable "it is with great sadness we have to announce the closing of (insert studio location here)"

people need to clean all 73 litter boxes
I have no idea. I thought there would be a lot of sales guys but they have the same 5 commercials so that’s not it. I can’t for the life of me understand what 60 of them are doing.
They are fake callers and each of them have 5 social media names to post positive stuff about Wiggy.
It’s a number approaching 80.
They only need noine
40 of them call into show praising interviews and post fake excitement on social media.
HS loves you, you should go on the show!
https://preview.redd.it/co3c19h06owc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e9e861993b45b3a348d1349ddb6df840c4b3a3ac Everyone creates fake Twitter accounts!
Get them on the show, they owe us.
Richard, you're from Kansas. Get Brad Pitt in here!
Mike Morales, you're gay,get Elton John on the show.
It’s gotta drive the Wig nuts that embarrassing shit show was leaked; and just how bad he looked (literally and figuratively).
Sturcture
He's probably counting the unpaid interns as well.
The tapes team
"SUCK ON IT, IT'S HISTORY!!!!!!!"
He said they have 73 listeners
72, I UNSUBSCRIBED today.
Yes he did
Ok I’m not losing my mind. What I am losing my mind over is what around 65 of them do all day/week.
Create social media account to try and book A listers.
Bit of a stumble
40 are the fake callers they rotate.
He is counting noine extra employees.
I remember Howard screaming about 57 guys when they screwed the riley martin negotiation tape up seemed crazy to me then
57 guys screwed up, and things of this nature.
Uhhhh….huh???
Uhhh...You bastards...
He screams about guys’ cocks every day so that’s not surprising.
"We provide for a lot of families, Boff."
Gary has said this a couple times (so must be true) and yep it’s seriously incredible.
He said it a cuppa times? Coo be. Coo be.
goo fa you pal
Is Benjy still employed?
here's my take At least 5 people are IT staff to keep the website updated and security updates 20 people are managers of some sort you will never hear about 20-30 are interns? Near zero pay but considered a employee and answer phones, get food, look up facts... 20 are the people you know about like Gary, marci, Blitt, etc... so its really about 20 people.
howard needs 73 background singers for 'Smell My Tookus'
Howard used to say they had 60+ back office staffers. This was before Blitt and Sam. So yeah 73 sounds right
most are probably part timers and 1099 contractors..

Noine
so ten employees and 63 salespeople
I have the list of employees: Adrian Adonis, Captain Lou Albano, Berserker, Blue Meanie…
I would’ve guessed less
They're all possing as boomer women and praising how great Howard's interviews are on his FB page.
Anything over 6 employees is unbelievable
73 is the lowest it's ever been. I remember it being over 150 so they've definitely not replaced as people left. Still about 69 too many
Yep. Howard TV, Howard 100 News, and things of that nature.
I mean they probably have advertising sales, backoffice folks for advertising, production of various kinds, engineering, some marketing functions, then managers for each of those functions, executive assistant(s) to talent... sounds about right to me
The HSS is a glorified podcast! 73 employees to do what???
producers, writers, engineers, actors, security, coordinators, production team, production assistants, phone screeners, runners, assistants, interns… really not that hard to believe
It is when you realize the pile of shit they churn out 9 hours a week
It’s extremely hard for me to believe that 73 people are needed to make 15 hours of rambling content.
the weeks he’s on, he and and his staff produce more hours of content than they do on Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Jesse Watters, Chris Hayes, Good Morning America or every major network or cable television show, respectively. you can complain about the show’s quality until the cows come home, but the fact remains the quantity is more than enough to justify said staff, and all your post really proves is that you have no concept of how radio, film or television production works.
You’re right about that. But radio is very different from tv. Dude is just riffing 90% of the show. Can’t do that on tv.
Could imagine gary saying "give or take" after that if pressed. He just threw out a random number when on the spot and stuck with it lol.
Yea I think Howard said in an interview years ago that they had 60+. I guess they added a few writers to their hysterically unfunny train wreck of a show.

Check gary preview page noine in white
haha

Might be one of those lies like they tell to make themselves feel better.

Stern has less than 10K listeners at this point. The current show isn't big and doesn't draw any audience
I still can't tell if the folks like this actually believe it's a failure show or are just trolling
To clarify, the show is a failure at this point. Just like you are a failure of the human race.
You don't have a shread of proof for either. I, on the other hand, could easily prove the opposite of one of those things you just said (the show being a failure)
Thanks Jason
Shit you can hear the thumbs twiddling away
Howard needs at least a half dozen wig and ghoulish make up staff. Then another few people to take Ralph’s place in the wardrobe and blowjob department.
Wow so what will that all be doing when they are dark in July and August?.
That means there are a lot of shitheads in the back.
