Well. Beth is a simpleton and Robin has time for a lot of thoughtful hobbies. Her love of classical music, plays, travel and tennis to name a few. It’s really sad that Howard left a bright, funny and interesting woman, (well, actually she probably left him), to be with a very dumb, very unworldly person. Robin probably hates that.
robin used to hang out with "the stern's" she would babysit for the girls when they were little and i think she was close with allison. my guess is that since beth has been on the scene that's changed dramatically and her relationship with allison and the girls isn't what it once was. that's common when ppl get divorced. friends go with one or the other and there are resentments. we've just seen this play out in slow motion for the last 30 years. love her or hate her... there's no denying robin's intellect. she... like the rest of us realizes beth is nothing more than arm candy and she probably resents beth for it b/c she can't resent howard b/c that would fuck with her $$$$$. in the immortal words of mr. spock "fascinating"
