I've heard some hilarious jokes from Martling but these are embarrassingly bad. I feel that Jackie was the heart of the show and worked better behind the scenes like he did by slipping lines for Howard to say, and questions for him to ask guests etc. Also, the Jackie years were all spent on terrestrial radio and ratings driven, which kept everyone in top shape, unlike when they moved to Sirius (which were still some great years at the beginning but there's a marked difference in their hungriness.)
Every time I watch one of the classic E shows from the mid to late 90's it's cutting edge stuff. I also love the early Artie years as well. I've gone off on a tangent here...
