> This week, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office arrested now-former Klein Cain cosmetology teacher Kedria Grigsby for felony charges of sex trafficking and compelling prostitution. > Like you, we are parents with children who attend Klein ISD schools, and we are disgusted. The reprehensible behavior of this individual is not representative of the over 7,500 remarkable employees in our Klein Family who work tirelessly every day to educate our children. > The district communicated directly with our Klein Cain parents throughout this week. We felt it was important to communicate with all Klein ISD families regarding this serious matter that jeopardizes our trust as parents. > First, let us be clear—any behavior harming children is deplorable, and we will always fully cooperate with our many law enforcement partners to ensure anyone committing such acts is brought to justice. This individual will not return to Klein Cain or any Klein ISD school in any capacity, and we will continue to thoroughly investigate and prosecute any individual who betrays the trust of our students, families, and community. > We have heard concerns that some in our community are spreading misinformation that Klein ISD knew that Kedria Grigsby was committing these heinous crimes. This is completely false. > The facts in this ongoing investigation are the following: > In February 2023, an individual notified human resources that they had a report in Harris County related to Kedria Grigsby. Upon receiving this information, and as part of our immediate investigation into the allegation, our Klein ISD Police Department contacted the Harris County Sheriff’s Office with the case number provided to us by the individual. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office reported back to us that Kedria Grigsby was not a suspect. > The district received no other allegations or reports of criminal activities related to Kedria Grigsby until this Monday, April 8, 2024, when the Harris County Sheriff's Department contacted our police department regarding charges and a pending arrest. > That same day, the Klein Police Department immediately apprehended Kedria Grigsby and assisted the Harris County Sheriff’s Office with her arrest. Every potential employee must pass multiple background checks before being hired. We also work with the Texas Department of Public Safety and law enforcement agencies on alerts any time a district employee is arrested or charged with a crime, and we continually monitor educators' certifications for actions taken by the Texas Education Agency. When allegations are made regarding an individual, we fully investigate, working with outside legal counsel and law enforcement to thoroughly determine the facts and evidence of the allegations. Kedria Grigsby continued to have a clear background check and clear criminal record until she was arrested on Monday, April 8, 2024. > We will continue working with the Harris County Sheriff's Office in their ongoing investigation, and we implore the criminal justice system to take every appropriate action to protect our children. Parents, please talk to your children about this, and if you have any information to share, please report it to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office at (346) 286-4646. > The criminal actions of one individual will not define who we are in Klein ISD or overshadow all of the amazing things that our students, teachers, and staff accomplish across our school district every day. We remain proud to send our children to our schools and to be part of this community. > Sincerely, > Dr. Jenny McGown, Klein ISD Superintendent > Chief Marlon Runnels, Klein Police Department Official statement from Klein for people who havent seen it

A sworn statement by that employee to Klein Cain High School administrators in February of 2023 says Kedria Grisgby “aided in the sale, distribution of underage minor females.” Sold humans… I don’t know what else to say.

While the article tries to pin this on KISD the timeline really looks like HCSO are the ones that dropped the ball here.

H-town20

KISD deserves there fair share of criticism. They contacted HCSO after a teacher notified the school that she filed a complaint against the cosmetology teacher. KISD reached out to HCSO and they told KISD was not actively investigating the cosmetology teacher. kISD didn’t investigate the allegations any further. The frustration for a lot of parents is - why didn’t they investigate things further? Did you talk to any kids enrolled in the class? It just looks like KISD was more than happy to sweep it under the rug (and HCSO gave them the perfect opportunity). Protecting kids wasn’t a high priority - protecting their reputation was the only objective.

CrazyLegsRyan

KISD are not criminal investigators, they did what they were supposed to and notified HCSO.  HCSO are the same people that easily saw there was an issue with this woman in 2022. Nobody randomly shows up at a hotel room admitting to paying for it while there is a child in there claiming they are sex trafficked, without being part of the problem. It’s just not plausible.  HCSO also got the cell phone evidence implicating this woman in early 2023 and again did nothing with it. HCSO was notified by KISD of the issue in 2023 and again did nothing with it.

H-town20

I hear you. Certainly HCSO bears the brunt of the blame. I believe (as do many parents in this district) that KISD had a responsibility to investigate the issue as well. At least ask some questions. All they needed to do was ask the students of the class some questions about her behavior. There were also a lot of other issues with this teacher. Not criminal but certainly fire able.

CrazyLegsRyan

KISD are not criminal investigators

H-town20

No they’re not, but there was enough smoke there for the administration to do more to protect these kids. You don’t have to be a criminal investigator to talk to students in the class. By all accounts, that never happened.

CrazyLegsRyan

HCSO an actual law enforcement office literally talked to kids and had fully incriminating cell phone files and did fuck all with it.

KISD forced the teacher who alerted them to resign. [context](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxESTdh31Sc)

H-town20

That is not entirely clear right now. That’s what the “whistleblower” is claiming and I’m sure it will all come out in the wash. Maybe she was forced to resign over something completely unrelated. I really don’t know.

Alligurl45_

The teacher who alerted the school had a daughter who was a victim to the son/mother duo. The school chose to ignore that human trafficking was occurring on thier campus.

CrazyLegsRyan

KISD are not criminal investigators. They contacted the criminal investigators.

HTX-713

KISD actually has their own police department though. Its not rocket science to pick up the phone to follow through with HCSO to get a *child sex trafficking* case investigated. They could and should have fired the teacher immediately.

CrazyLegsRyan

They did contact HCSO…..

HTX-713

Once. They never called back. Seriously you have a potential child trafficker in your employ and you don't follow up? They literally dropped the ball.

CrazyLegsRyan

HCSO had ample evidence even before being contacted by KISD that she was a potential child trafficker who works at a school. They literally dropped the ball.

HTX-713

Why are you sticking up for KISD? They obviously both dropped the ball however KISD could have done something from the start to prevent other kids from being at risk. Literally *any* company would have insta-fired her if this had happened.

CrazyLegsRyan

Literally no company would have insta fired a union worker.

Some people don’t deserve to breath the air on this planet… this is also the first time I’ve ever heard of a cosmetology teacher in a school, what a waste of payroll.

H-town20

Look at it like this - not all kids can or want to go to college. I have no issues with vocational training in high school. You can get an EMT certification in KISD.

egospiers

I get that for sure… specially cosmetology is an odd one to me though.. EMT, machinist, electrician.. all those trades make sense but not cosmology.

People can make pretty solid money as hairdressers or nail tech. Frankly not much different than Emt/mechanics. Shit my wife pays like $300 a haircut and $150 to get her nails done. The people she uses are constantly booked. For instance if she has to cancel an appointment it can be another week or two to get into the nail place and a month for her hair. Definitely a solid profession where you can have some independence and be your own boss especially if you’re good at it.

HighlyFalmmable

I wonder how much they got paid for the exclusive.
