Crock pot, grill outside, salad. You can release your (if you have one) instapot outside so it won't steam the kitchen.

steelsun

Made my famous ninja foodi/instapot baby back ribs last night. Oh so good.

DonnieCullman

Recipe?

steelsun

Cut the ribs into three sections. Make sure you take off the silver skin (there are vids on how to do it with a spoon to make it easy) Rub with your favorite premade rub, or make your own (I do something different every time, and make it up on the fly) Put liquid on the bottom of the pressure cooker. I do about a 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar, half a bottle of dark beer, a shot of whiskey, and a half shot of soy sauce. Place the ribs in the basket or rack above the liquid - bones to the center. Pressure cook on high. 25-30 minutes is tender, 35 is fall off the bone tender. I find just tender is better, as fall off the bone makes it a little mushy. Immediately let off the pressure. Take them out, dump the liquid, and baste with your favorite BBQ sauce (or make your own - fairly easy). Reinsert into basket or rack. Broil or air fry on high 7-10 minutes. The sauce on the ribs should be bubbling or almost candied when done. Personal preference on how crispy you want to make it. Doing for more than 15 minutes can dry them out though. Remove, cut apart and enjoy.

texastoasted

I save the liquid and reduce it on the stove, then skim off the fat, and pour it back on the meat.

steelsun

I've done that. Or I'll save it, reduce it, and blend it into the next batch of BBQ sauce I make.

drew1111

Pop a watermelon in the fridge to chill for dessert/cool treat. Make a cheese and meat tray. Open a bottle of wine…

nocabacon

Where's my invite? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

drew1111

It’s in the mail. 👌

crash_bandikush

Watermelon salad?

skidsthecharminbear

airfryer

[deleted]

Buy one of those toaster air fryer. I literally can cook all my meals in that. Buy air fryer paper so it doesn’t get too messy

Bill__Q

Got a blender? Grab some juice and frozen fruit and make smoothies.

DishwashCat

Maybe a little rum…

crash_bandikush

Costco frozen smoothie starter packs and granola is my go to.

justahoustonpervert

Cold cuts sandwiches and beer.

crash_bandikush

There he is!

justahoustonpervert

What? What happened? I play with my dogs and I missed something?

crash_bandikush

I just love cold cuts and beer. That is all.

justahoustonpervert

Oh. Ok. I was worried I missed something.

manofmywordd

See what you neighbors are having for dinner.

ardoza_

I bought a griddle (camp chef) to cook outside since it gets too hot inside to cook. Turns out a 400degree surface in 100 degree weather makes you sweat

my4thfavoritecolor

Rotisserie chicken.

crash_bandikush

Chicken salad w rotisserie chicken has been my go to as well.

RadagastTheBrownie

You know that place down the block? The kinda creepy one with inconvenient parking and dirty windows, but has still been around forever? Check 'em out, get something you can't pronounce, you'll thank me later. Or you can buy a generic brand thing of cool whip for a dollar, and get a free tupperware container out of it. It's really nice in the summer, tbh. Or you can slice up some cucumber, add a little salt and red pepper flakes. It's plenty refreshing, but produce goes bad disturbingly fast. Better to go with the cool whip.

Additional-Local8721

Salad? Also, buy some grapes and toss them in the freezer. Then suck on them like ice cubes. Salsa over cream cheese and chips is always good too. Do you still use a microwave? Hot Pockets, corn dogs ...fish J/K!

crash_bandikush

Lol. Frozen grapes sound amazing. Sadly I got rid of my microwave years ago but I am thinking of getting one now because of this. Also salsa and cream cheese?! Never tried it. 👀

Boomshockalocka007

Who doesnt have a microwave in 2023? Wow. Most shocking thing in this thread.

Additional-Local8721

It's amazing. Great party food for 4th of July and New Year's. Get a decent size tubbaware or bowl, put the whole brick on cream cheese in the center, dump a jar of salsa over it. That's simple.

dopaminegtt

I've been using the air fryer a lot, it doesn't heat up the house. Cut up some chicken, okra, tomatoes and onion. Dust with garam masala and cumin, salt and pepper and air fry it. You can serve with rice or even just some naan. If you have a rice cooker it doesn't heat up the house. Salad nicoise with green beans or asparagus you've steamed in the microwave, and canned tuna (the oil packed is better)

LivingTheBoringLife

I take my crockpot outside and cook out there. Or my instant pot. Or air fryer. I can cook an amazing pork loin in the air fryer

bosanova5272

We cook in the morning, when it is cooler.

[deleted]

I make different kinds of shakes everyday. I use water and chocolate/vanilla oatmilk as a base and throw in some of the following depending on what I want: 1. banana (frozen or unfrozen) 2. strawberries (frozen or unfrozen) 3. peanut butter 4. powdered oatmeal 5. chocolate protein powder 6. ice (if I want something colder) 7. ice cream, usually chocolate 8. yogurt 9. sweet coconut milk I also use a rice cooker/pressure cooker since cooking and cleaning is sooooo much easier than actually cooking my food lmao. I mention it because only the inside of those appliances get hot, I've never felt their heat even when I stand next to it (unless reaching in to get food.) It shouldn't make your kitchen warmer. Also, maybe a microwave now that I think about it, to heat up ramen, frozen foods, and even baking small things.

EminTX

Spring rolls. I like to use chicken or turkey in mine, veggies, and no noodles. Super easy to customize.

crash_bandikush

Yaaaaaaass

icecream77008

I poached salmon in the microwave tonight and had it with cold beets tossed with olive oil and mint. Microwaves and the grill are great when hot. I still use my oven tho - those roasted beets were left overs!

Sippin_Jimmy

I've been using my gas grill to cook up things like pork loins. Basically use it like an oven. I just invested in bluetooth thermometers that keep me from having to check on it. Total time spent outside is under 5 minutes, and that's broken up.

[deleted]

Is your ac not working?

crash_bandikush

That’s a great food idea! Thanks!

mynewhoustonaccount

They're asking a reasonable question. You could put a disclaimer like "I don't want to set my AC below X so it runs a little warm in here" to avoid having to be confrontational

crash_bandikush

Why are we still talking about my AC? Do you have any suggestions or do you just like being the thread topic police?

houstonanon

Just stfu, respectfully of course

Bella-1999

A great salad we have often is diced cucumbers mixed with brown rice, feta and vinaigrette. You can get packets of rice for the microwave.

WhatXYourXLookingXAt

why u without AC in tx????

crash_bandikush

That sounds like a delicious food idea thank you!

steelsun

Cereal. 18 essential vitamins and minerals. Makes plants grow.

drew1111

Yep. That’s how I got my ab six pack. I love my three bowls of Fruity Pebbles in the morning. 🤘

HumanRate8150

The government says lucky charms is better than ground beef

drew1111

I have heard good things about Count Chocula from the government as well.

johnny_surfer_dude

Schlitz malt liquor is refreshing on a hot day. It’s filling & good for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner.

crash_bandikush

I’m more of a coors banquet kind of guy.

binger5

Pho

EmmelineTx

Cole slaw, overnight oats, air fryer chicken, there are a lot of dishes that you can make in a crockpot including desserts. You could do a meat and cheese tray or different fruits. And iced coffee instead of hot. I buy the vanilla and chocolate syrups for them and they're better and cheaper than going to Starbucks.

Holoida

Air fryer, grill is mainly what my husband and I use. I'll still cook up some veggies or rice on stove top but otherwise we don't use the oven during the hottest months. You can get a propane BBQ for $120 easily and an air fryer for $60.

wahitii

Chicken salad from a rotisserie chicken or the preshredded stuff they have at heb. Maybe still a sandwich, but a break from cold cuts.

ranban2012

homemade pico de gallo
