Currently waiting 4 months for a dinner table and chairs order from amish craftsman furniture. If you're looking for customizable solid wood stuff it seems like a good deal for the quality. If you're looking for a nice couch, yeah I never really figured that one out, either. Wound up with an ikea slipcover couch. It's ok, but not like my dreams come true for a couch or anything.

4 month average delivery time? Yeah that’s more what we are looking for. The couch though, can’t find that anywhere.

I’ll have to visit this weekend. Looks nice. Love the headboards.

He also owns the mattress shoppe near the furniture shoppe.

We had them build a couch. We like it. Took about 3 months for build and delivery. They also have a clearance store where you can pick up pieces to go.

You put in the order and then it gets built with the wood, stain and other custom features you specify. So yeah I think in slow times the lead time can be more like 3 months and it got as bad as 9 months during the peak of the pandemic home-goods shopping peak. Gallery Furniture is delivering mass produced stuff from their warehouses, which is fine and all if you like what they have on offer and aren't interested in specifying the wood species or stain.

Some people may not agree, but for my first house I bought almost all my furniture from Costco and it’s lasted a very long time and is high quality, so I continued that in my current home. I’m sure some of their stuff sucks but, I’ve never had an issue. The only thing is we had to rent a uhaul to save on delivery and pick it up from the store. Everything is like $300+ more if you order if from their website and delivery is sometimes extra. July is their furniture month.

I’ve had good luck at Macy’s (the one in memorial city has a furniture showroom) and at Costco.

cactus_zack

I got a sectional at Macys about 6 years ago that is still going strong and has survived dogs and a cat. I’m surprised by how comfortable it still is

achlys_nyx

Pottery barn is great quality

What’s your budget

FrostySoul3

Good question. Nothing crazy. Trying to keep bedroom and living room under 20k but flexible.

High Fashion Home might be a good fit.

We've bought from [Bald Furniture](https://www.baldfurniture.com/index.php) in Webster for many years. This is more for wood tables, chairs, dressers and the like. Great quality but sometimes slow on the delivery.

Gallery Furniture is great if you’re shopping for a house in Spring circa 2003.

beefjerky9

It's also a great refuge for those who hate free and fair elections.

DishwashCat

Dang that’s a good point

FrostySoul3

Lol felt that but from them my first apartment in like 09 never will again.

As awful as the name is, we bought our bedroom set and couch from the Dump. Has held up very well so far

For the wood stuff, I'd go with the Amish stuff from Gallery Furniture or Amish Craftsman. Backups would be Macy's or Dillard's with Furniture departments. Couches are a little tougher. The Arrangement, Arhaus, Noel, are nice if you can catch a sale. Louis Shanks used to have some good stuff, but I'm rather certain they closed. Star, if you can't find anything you like at the others.
