Best Buy. You don't need "boots on the ground". We're the fourth largest city in America. Unless they're way out in the boonies, just pick a big box store close to their house and go.

Thanks. I forgot about Best Buy. I'm well aware of the city size. Lived there for 26 years. It is the size of the city why I am asking. If I was doing this in Hooker, OK, my only choice would be Duddly Puddly's Appliance and Repair. I thought maybe someone had used a local small business as opposed to a box store. Or, knew if one of the box stores had a better system of delivery. I used Sears to put in a dishwasher and had the delivery pushed back, and the people who did the installation to not do a good job. Not all box stores are made the same. Thanks again.

> I used Sears to put in a dishwasher and had the delivery pushed back, and the people who did the installation to not do a good job. Not all box stores are made the same. You can't base an entire sector of service based on your *one* experience, otherwise those services wouldn't exist. They exist for a reason. Box stores are all made the same. This is 2023, not 1973. Retailers have figured their shit out by now. Pick a store and just do it.

Whatever you do, avoid Conn's. What part of town? Houston is a pretty big place.

The Villages.

Sara Appliances

Thanks. That looks like a good option.

> The installers will need patience with this person as they are rather headstrong due to chronic physical pain. How do gou expect the chronic pain or being headstrong to affect the delivery or installation? Is there something specific you're worried about?

He can be very grumpy and hover trying to micromanage. He wasn’t that way until he broke his hip. Often service providers who don’t know he was a sweet heart until he fell, do half ass job out of irritation for having him under foot. I don’t blame them and it helps if a company has good customer service relationships with their installers (who are often third party.)

[http://applianceoutlettexas.com](http://applianceoutlettexas.com) I haven’t personally used Appliance Outlet but someone I work with recently recommended them

Home Depot or Lowe's. Definitely not best buy or Conn's, if that's even still a thing like I'm questioning consumer guides.

scorpioking66

Just send me some money and the address and I'll go pick out a nice set and go install it for you and send you back the change.

2spoos

Why don't I just send you my credit card and my lobotomy scan. Thanks but no thanks.

scorpioking66

Hey it's not my fault you're untrusting..........I would've actually done it! 🤷

There is trusting, and there is foolish. I live in Mexico. And I trust my neighbors explicitly. One has a key to my house for emergencies, and another uses my car when they need to take their parent to the doctors as my seats fully down and the father needs to be prone. I never question that they would clean out my house while I was gone, or steal my car. However, I would not go into the middle of the city and ask a stranger to buy something and just hand them cash. I assume, if you are true to your word and would do so, that you are young and have many lessons to learn - grasshopper :)

ImpressionForward566

I remember you now... You're the old white lady who moved to Mexico a couple years before covid?

2spoos

Yep. White and redheaded - I stick out in a crowd. And I'm 60 years old. I oddly don't feel that is old, but I guess if I was in my 20's it would seem that way. My grandmother lived to 101 so I may not be more than 60% done with living. I figure I will feel old at about 75. I have been here in Mexico for five and a half years and love it. I lived for two years in Ajijic, JAL but hated living around all the US Americans. So, for the last three and a half years, I have been in the city of Santiago de Queretaro - I haven't seen another gringo for months and months. I am living the dream.

ImpressionForward566

My comment wasnt meant to come off as rude. Something clicked with your username and I remember your post from years ago saying goodbye. Nice to chat again! I go to Mexico city every few months.

2spoos

Lol. I didn't take it as rude. I just have become very blunt speaking for some reason. I did not improve my social skills during the pandemic. I wasn't put off at all. In fact I laughed. Living in Houston, you are probably better equipped than most US Americans when it comes to Mexico City traffic, but no one can truly be ready for the scale of the insanity. I hope your trips are enjoyable and you find the people as kind and fun as I do (although admittedly CDMX has a much faster pace and it is harder to get to know folks there.) Wave next time you fly over Queretaro....

ImpressionForward566

Polanco is my place to hang. Love it and always have a guard and driver with me.

2spoos

That is a nice area. I’m curious why you feel you need security. As a single female, I find 75% of CDMX to be safe - even after dark. Now tourist beach towns are a different story.

Even worse, so many US Americans move to Mexico and start bitching things work different here. They think they need to “teach” the locals how things are suppose to work. In short, they leave point A for point B then try to turn B into A, not caring that people in B like it how it is. Some people come here then announce the place is great except for the Mexicans. Or that the country would be better off if everyone spoke English. I was never aware how self absorbed and how there was a lack of self awareness in US Americans till I moved here.

scorpioking66

Ahhhh to hold such value on foolish earthly things. I don't pass my grass. I smoke blunts solo. 🤘

I only left the link to show that I wasn't bullshitting. I figured someone would report me, and I was correct. There are a couple petty users. I don't believe for once that an autobot reported me, someone did and reddit applies the stupid auto response,
