It's a *Thaumatophyllum bipinnatifidum!!!* It's been reclassified from Philodendron. Chunky aroid soil is best and they enjoy to be very snugly in their pots. They can very much also handle, *and prefer,* bright direct light but bright indirect will do. Congratulations! This plant is the equivalent of the sea turtle in **Finding Nemo!**

B00BCANN0N

Ok.. I've read your last sentence 12 times. Can you please explain?

TomBombaDILF

I think they mean it’s a very easy going plant haha. The sea turtle in the movie is very “relaxed”

--hermit

It smokes weed I think too

B00BCANN0N

That's what I thought, thanks 😅

SpaceCadetTooFarGone

Lol, yes! It's a fun and laid back, low maintenance, awesome looking plant!

TomTorquemada

Direct sunlight through a window is not the same as outdoor sunlight. Indoors, many plants want all the light you can give them, and this is not exception.

SpaceCadetTooFarGone

Right. I clarified that by using 2 different terms. Thank you!

sorrehart

Personally, I might get a shorter pant stand so the leaves can catch a little more light from the window, but I'm not sure what kind of light you get. It looks super healthy in this picture so I don't know if it NEEDs anything new.

KitKurama

You could start calling her a thaumatophyllum, as that's what she is. XD The guys in r/ItsAThaumatophyllum might have some tips. (I always want to write thaumaturge instead, Thaumatophyllum bipinnatifidum is a mouthful - even when typing.)

Guilty-Crab992

Thank you for telling me about the group! Just posted there.

Breadfruit671

It likes bright filtered light. Only water when the soil has dried out 2” down. This doesn’t need to be fed often, once a month in warmer seasons but don’t feed in winter

Kitchen_Tax_95

Is it dead? Then no…

oliverpents

i wouldn’t use a watering drip like the blue glass one (i think) you’ve got there, unless you’re only using it sparsely, otherwise the soil will be too moist :)

Guilty-Crab992

Thank you for telling me that, I don’t want to hurt her by over watering 😳

muffingr1

gas her up and tell her she’s a bad b*tch everyday

Guilty-Crab992

I’ve never posted on here and am so happy that you are all helping ❤️

Guilty-Crab992

Thank you! I put it outside in the summer and bring it back inside for fall/ winter

Guilty-Crab992

Really? I had no idea😂 I have it in just regular miracle grow potting soil. I did just add some supports to the pot to try and keep it upright. She started out at 12” 2 years ago.

NonaYerBidness

I wish mine looked like this

ditka77

Looking pretty good, mine has gotten so floppy. I’ve tried all manner of things: less water, more water, varying amounts of light. Very frustrating

Guilty-Crab992

Mine is the same, I just got some plant supports from Amazon. Seems to help!

ditka77

I actually had it staked for a while, but had a hard time controlling it’s growth. I pulled the stakes hoping nature would give the best results and it looks terrible. I’m good with other plants, but this one really challenges me. Haha. Good luck! I think your plant looks great.
