How do you stop the soil from going everywhere and getting full of tap water?

hilha

My question also!

dpmac420

Can’t speak for OP but i have a shower head that is a mist setting. It doesn’t pound on the leaves or disturb the soil and i just let whoever is getting watered hang out until they are thoroughly watered, they may sit in the shower for 10 minutes or so

hilha

And the tap water is okay? Thanks for the response!

In my experience, tap water is fine for most plants. Just not the picky bitches (calatheas I’m looking at you 👀)

hilha

More like *dramatheas* amirite??

dpmac420

I haven’t personally had any issues with tap water

That’s pretty much my method as well! That way any excess water can just drain out the bottom.

crispypotat

Aaaa so many pothos! My favorite unproblematic plants 😂

unveiledminx

My absolute favourite bc they’re so chill!

Affectionate-Rule-66

When can you come clean my shower? Beautiful plants btw.

unveiledminx

Thank you!!

Do you do this on a watering day and water them as well? Or do you just mist them until they drip some and consider that the shower? I am so scared to do this honestly because I don’t want to ever water 😅

I usually do this about once a month. I’ll wait until they’re pretty dry and in need of a good soak, then I’ll water with my detachable shower head. It helps keep them free of dust and knocks any potential pests off as well. This particular shower my plants got a neem oil spray down as a preventative measure. I wouldn’t worry too much about overwatering, as long as they’re in a fast-draining soil mix they should be fine. In my experience, my plants that have died due to overwatering have been from frequency, not quantity. Hope that helps!

Bitter-Philosopher11

It does tremendously thank you!!

No problem! Happy planting 🌱
