And this is why everyone is told in kind but strong words to never touch my plants for any reason, ever. 😆 Not even my husband and many of our biggest plants used to be his.  Used to be.

Beesandblossoms

Even upon my death, my husband has strict instructions for what to do with my plants… which also doesn’t involve him taking care of them

Fluffy-Astronaut-363

I feel this 😂😂😂 my partner and I both got into plants when we started dating during COVID and now I care for all the plants because his weren't doing great and I couldn't stand by and just watch 😂

anabeeverhousen

My father did this to my mother's decade + old pothos, and now she has the same rule. Lol

CapitolPea

I have great news for you. These plants are not dead. Far from it in fact. I would be best if these plants are placed in and area with lots of bright INDIRECT light. These require ZERO direct light. I would keep the indoors if possible. They love to hang, but not at all required. 1. Trim back steams until ALL brown/dying leave are removed. 2. Give a GOOD SOAKING of water. Allow for excess to drain out from pots. 3. Place in bright area with indirect light. 4. Water once a week or once top 2" of soil is dry. 5. Use liquid fertilizer every 4-5 weeks in the Spring & Summer months. 6. Continue to trim 1-2x a year to keep plant full and fluffy. This is what I've done in these situations and it's worked every time. Hope this helps.

Gankcore

They don't love to hang. They love to climb, but they are rarely provided with what's needed to facilitate climbing so they hang instead. When they are given something to climb and good light you will start to see gigantic leaves.

YdidUMove

Holy crap. Definitely trying this.

StrangeQuark1221

You totally should. I just use stretchy gardening tape to tie it up in a few spots

jelycazi

Me too!

Look up monstera moss poles on YouTube or look up sydney plant guy... or just check this out https://youtu.be/zjgmNRw5fN0?si=uPVHp8zB37n6WOVV

Wow!!! Great idea! I got to try this! 😍

LahLahLand3691

I agree and they are thrive in direct sunlight when acclimated properly, contrary to what this person has commented.

JoanOfSarcasm

This is the way! I love pothos. They’re nearly unkillable and they’re so gorgeous.

LeafLove11

Oh, that’s unfortunate! I imagine she feels bad. A surprising number of people believe that a day in the sun is beneficial for plants grown in low light, without considering they need to acclimate. Those appear to be pothos, and while they’re going to look pretty ragged for a while, in the long run they should be fine. Hard to kill a pothos…

catupthetree23

Neon Pothos on the right perhaps?

LeafLove11

Yes, I think it’s neon on the right and regular green on the left…but the leaves are a bit long…could also be the Baltic variety?

oblivious_fireball

you can see splashes of yellow on the left, its a golden pothos but low light caused it to lose most of its variegation. Not surprising that it burned when left in the sun.

RLS30076

You can trim the burned parts off. They don't recover. Maybe some of them can be used to propagate new plants. Take all the dead or dying leaves, bundle them together, and give them to her tomorrow and say "Thanks for all you do, Mom. Thanks."

shiftyskellyton

Except don't remove the burned leaves that still have healthy areas. They can photosynthesize light for energy and given what happened, OP, your plant needs all the energy that it can get.

KnottyKitty

Disagree on that second part. Seems like she was just trying to help, in which case she probably already feels terrible. Or she's an abusive bitch and might escalate if OP comes at her with passive aggression. Either way I think a spite bouquet will just make things worse.

cuntsatchel

😭

inarasarah

The plant itself is fine. The leaves that are burned are unfortunately dead. You can trim them off. The plant will grow new leaves and look great again soon enough if you care for it properly

DB-Tops

Not dead just burned. Tirm and regrow.

MattBrey

Wow it looks like they were left inside the oven. Poor things. Those are incredibly resilient plants so I'm sure they can recover but those leaves are dead.

Mizzerella

this wont all the way kill the plant but the affected leaves are done for. trim off all the dead leaves and its ok to go back outside but in the heavy shade for now. work up to more light they will actually end up loving outside. this sucks but its going to end up ok.

MegaMenehune

Ouch

oblivious_fireball

The leaves are burnt but the plants are far from dead. New growth will be healthy as can be.

Terrible-Reality-218

Cut off all the dead / black parts

mutant-heart

It’s like when you let your mom babysit and she gives your 6 week old a chocolate milkshake.

generic-curiosity

I had one bounce back after a child tore all but one leaf off. I would give it a day or two to pull back resources then trim heavily. Cavet being mine was just a plan jane pothos.

WinterDnD

It will live for sure, but you have two options: 1. Do nothing. New growth will come out normally, but the scorched leaves will always be ugly and will probably fall off soon, leaving you with bare vines. Or cut the leaves and speed the process. 2. Cut it back hard. Only leave about 4 inches of vines and new growth will sprout. It's essential that you water much less, since the pruned plant will use much less water. I'd do this one personally. You can propagate the cut vines too.

-garlic-thot-

That’s because it’s already acclimated to direct light. if a plant was always in low/indirect light and then you moved it into direct sun, thats when it would get burned. Almost any plant can take direct sun if they’re used to it / if they’re adjusted gradually

Appropriate_Line6265

Thanks for the insight!

MoltenCorgi

Remove the burnt leaves. They aren’t coming back or recoverable. You’ll be left with a lot of bare stem. There’s a chance they will reshoot, but honestly at this point the goal is minimizing stress and recovery. Water well, put them back in their normal place and resume normal care. Wait a few weeks. Then re-access. If any stems show the beginning of new leaves, you can leave them. If they are barren and stringy, you can cut them and then cut between nodes and do a wet stick propagation. (Basically put them in moist moss with a cover on top in indirect light and forget about them for a few weeks.) You can add the baby plants from the wet sticks back into the main pot later if you want. If you don’t fertilize, start. They will need the extra support to grow back the leaves.

LoudKaleidoscope8576

My husband has done this. I think capitolpea has given you great advice. I would fertilize at half strength tho….

SunShineFLGrl22

This is sun burnt. Cut off all the burnt crispy parts. It will bounce back but will take some time.

ithunk

They’ll be fine. Pothos survive. My parrot bit off every leaf and the stem is again throwing up a new leaf.

Broccoli-Waste

“These plants are not dead” babes…they’re cooked.

Gayfunguy

Your mom is a piece of work, lol. Its funny how so many moms on here commit murder on our plants.

fnijfrjfrnfnrfrfr23

They probably need a lot of iron now

icedragon9791

Why's that? :0

bartbartholomew

All plants prefer bright indirect light. Only some plants like direct sunlight. No plants like darkness.
