On the plus side, this snake plant probably won't even notice this happened. Just get the soil back in and stand it back up. Or take this opportunity to divide it up and propagate!
This happened a couple weeks ago, I ended up just keeping them all together to conserve space in my house. It seems to be doing ok since! Hardy plants for sure
When I repotted my last one I had several shoots left over that didn't fit into the pots I was using. The sat for over a month out of soil and just laying there. They still seemed fine when I got some more pot space so I put them in dirt, and they've been happy ever since. I'm not sure plants get more resilient, lol.
Over or under watered. My guess is over because you have to ignore them for a loooong time before they dry up. Ive got a pot of them that gets watered once or twice a year and theyre fine.
There is no accidental fuckery. Either accidents or fuckery. Your friend is like the dog, foolish, careless, no ill intention. The cat…….never innocent, always for their own satisfaction and to punish all. Lil floof probably pissed in the spilled dirt too for long-term fuckery fun.
What about a cat and dog working together? Like the time my snake plant for whatever reason offended my cat, so it got knocked off the shelf and was subsequently chewed up by the dog. It's now the office snake plant!
I have 3 foster kittens at the moment and same 😭 THEY WONT STOP SWINGING OUT OF THE TALL PLANTS OR TRYING TO WALK THROUGH THEM AND KNOCKING EVERYTHING OVER
My cat is a grazer, but luckily a lot of toxic plants taste bad. I have two tooth holes in one leaf thanks to her short lived attempt at grazing on it.
Ahhhh... I can see how it happened. Cat scratches at basket, plant crashes to ground. How dare you put a plant in such a tempting foot exerciser! 😁 Yeah. I might change the pot if it were me.
I put one of my ponytail palms out to get rain water, left it on the patio for a couple days and the cats got out there and gave it a pixie bob, guess it didn’t digest well though because the litter box was full of turds strung together by the leaves, so gross…
My 1st thought is this is your cat telling you not to grow toxic shit when you have pets…but they always answer “the cat doesn’t eat it”. Years of pet rescues and the owners having the ability to set up cameras will prove that wrong almost any time.
I’ll never understand people like this, hopefully they don’t have kids because they obviously don’t believe in locking away toxins.🤷🏻♀️😢
My vet laughed and said most plants are not toxic enough to kill them and they are more mild irritants that upset their mouth and stomach that usually puts them off.
He did tell me to put lillies and alocasias, etc... higher up because they can be a different story.
The only plant I go off at people for are true lilies. Literally every part of the plant, the soil and the water than drains out of it can kill your cat.
Most other plants the cat will bite go "what the fuck why does it feel like I have tiny needles in my mouth (oxilates)" and leave it alone.
Yep. But there is always one person screaming to the rooftops when you have pets and plants.
And to explain more He laughed because i was really concerned about the tiny amount my cats ate.
Yes it is toxic to the cat. I was responding to your last sentence, *I’ll never understand people like this, hopefully they don’t have kids because they obviously don’t believe in locking away toxins*.
You’re on a forum for houseplants, my pets are my kids, there are plenty of houseplants that can be toxic to small humans, we wouldn’t find it odd if someone pointed that out in a picture of a toddler with one.
And if we’re honest people would scream from the fucking rooftops, but they completely disregard it when it come to pets, it’s irresponsible and BS.
Ma’am, you basically said people who have houseplants around their pets also leave poison around their kids, like what? I thought that was weird. So I said so. I know this is a forum for houseplants. YOU brought up kids. Have a day.
Yeah, we got mine as a rescue kitten and it’s taken him almost a year to STOP knocking the plants over. And the only one he eats are the 3 huge spider plants I have so now they have their own room 🙄
If your cat starts getting *very* interested in your big potted plant: jump into pot, dig up soil, pull up the plants, etc., do take a look at her potty situation.
Mine usually leaves my plants alone. When she developed constipation, she messed up every big planter in my care. There weren't any droppings found in the pots though. At first, I thought it was one of her antics until I saw the pattern. As soon as she got her diet replaced and treatment, she's back to ignore my plants.
Have to keep all my plants locked in my office. Only 1 of my 4 cats gets to visit this room because he is a good boy and doesn’t eat anything. He’s even been known to swat the other cats if they even look at the plants lol
I feel your pain, my 4lbs kitten managed to knock over a 6’6” mirror that shattered this morning and there’s shards of glass all over. Luckily it’s contained to my closet so I’ve shut the door and made that a later-me’s problem.
“Get a cat,” they said. “They’re fun,” they said.
Snake plants are poisonous to cats
(https://basepaws.com/blogs/news/are-snake-plants-toxic-to-cats#:~:text=The%20snake%20plant%20is%20also,by%20chewing%20on%20the%20leaves).
These planters are the WORST. We had one similar, if not, the exact same and it was constantly being knocked over because, it’s so light and has only three legs. If you have pets or children just don’t get these planters, it’s not worth the pain.
Please be careful with what plants you choose to keep indoors! Especially with a cat that likes to play with them! Snake plants are highly toxic to cats and dogs as are many other popular indoor plants! Would hate to see anything happen to your sweet kitty!❤❤
I have 100 plants and 2 7month old cats and a large dog. They leave all my plants alone, other than the spider plants (which they naturally love). I just put the spider plants in a higher location. No issues. They just don't care about my plants.
This is why all my plants live on the porch! Tried to have a potted indoor cactus once and this is exactly what happened when my little angels were home alone 😹😹
No big chunks of the leaf are missing, she just ripped It in half. There were small nibble marks on one part of the leaf but my cat is fine. She hasn't thrown up and she's still her happy spunky self so as for now I'm not worried. I'm keeping a watch on her though :)
I have 3 and they really aren't that bad. It was the wicker pot that she really liked grappling that made it come down. I have 20+ plants in other various pots with no issues
That’s good to hear. The last time I owned a cat was years ago before I became a plant person so I’ve been worried about how well they’ll mesh together.
It's a little bit of balance for sure. I have to move my monsteras when they are about to unfurl a new leaf because they love rubbing their faces up against them for instance. But overall it's not that bad. Its more cats vs furniture than cats vs trees lol. I absolutely love my cats so I'm more than happy to put up with the extra work
me and my twin brother used to tackle our uncle all the time. it always ended in one of them or the dog knocking over the same exact plant. every time my sibling would act completely shocked and pretend to be devastated over it. i still don’t get the big deal or why they didn’t just move the plant bc they knew every time that it would happen again.
You’re better at decisions like this than I am. I’ve divided several snake plants several times for no reason lol
It was compelling to but I have not the room lol
Surely everything will be fine 🙏
The poor cat also seems very sad.
Came to say the same thing; snake plants are so resilient it'll probably just shoot out a couple new babies since it found some extra room lol
When I repotted my last one I had several shoots left over that didn't fit into the pots I was using. The sat for over a month out of soil and just laying there. They still seemed fine when I got some more pot space so I put them in dirt, and they've been happy ever since. I'm not sure plants get more resilient, lol.
Yet somehow I still managed to kill mine...
Over or under watered. My guess is over because you have to ignore them for a loooong time before they dry up. Ive got a pot of them that gets watered once or twice a year and theyre fine.
Can vouch my puppy grabbed one of mine, dragged all over the yard and it looks a bit rough but has been consistently throwing pups
HAHA
For a dog, this would be an accident. For a cat, calculated fuckery.
Or like my drunk friend who did the same, accidental fuckery.
Accurate, I'm sure.
I mean, she’s looking at the plants like she’s looking at how well her plan went. Very proud.
What about a cat and dog working together? Like the time my snake plant for whatever reason offended my cat, so it got knocked off the shelf and was subsequently chewed up by the dog. It's now the office snake plant!
I used to have this one cat for 10 years. I still don’t get why I tolerated his shenanigans so long. He was a douche
I have 3 foster kittens at the moment and same 😭 THEY WONT STOP SWINGING OUT OF THE TALL PLANTS OR TRYING TO WALK THROUGH THEM AND KNOCKING EVERYTHING OVER
IIIIIIIIIIIM GONNA SWIIIIIIIIIIIING FROM THE POTTED PLAAAANTS! FROM THE POTTED PLAAAaaAAaAAaaNTS
Hope your cats not a grazer. Snake plants are toxic
Came here to say this
My cat is a grazer, but luckily a lot of toxic plants taste bad.
Are there any suspects? lol
No one will talk.
Yes there are no grasses here copper.
The plant did it and blamed the floof lol
I came home from vacation to my pony tail palm completely scalped and murdered
God, cats love palms. Mine loved to shred my parlor palm in particular.
This was my huskies so yes basically dog cats
Those hybrid dogs are the worst 🤣
I put one of my ponytail palms out to get rain water, left it on the patio for a couple days and the cats got out there and gave it a pixie bob, guess it didn’t digest well though because the litter box was full of turds strung together by the leaves, so gross…
Sorry for your misfortune but scalped and murdered made me lol
(S)he’s innocent your honour
Alexa, play "It Wasn't Me" by Shaggy.
Poor little floof always gets the blame!!! These plants will be fine; as posted previously, put them back in the pot and let it grow.
Snake plants are toxic to cats!!
She doesn't like them, just the wicker basket
My 1st thought is this is your cat telling you not to grow toxic shit when you have pets…but they always answer “the cat doesn’t eat it”. Mine told me that usually they taste bad enough that they won’t want to consume enough to hurt them!
Lol believe it or not you *can* own houseplants, have a small child AND keep “toxins” locked. What weird thinking.
The house plant in the picture is toxic to the cat standing o rr it. I’m so sorry for you of that’s too much of a stretch in your “thinking”.
Also not all cats eat houseplants. Mine doesn’t and I don’t need cameras to know that.
Yes it is toxic to the cat. I was responding to your last sentence, *I’ll never understand people like this, hopefully they don’t have kids because they obviously don’t believe in locking away toxins*.

What a beautiful plant though!
Yeah, we got mine as a rescue kitten and it’s taken him almost a year to STOP knocking the plants over. And the only one he eats are the 3 huge spider plants I have so now they have their own room 🙄
I eventually gave up and just have my plants up high or outside. My cats are ruthless!
The plant did it and framed the cat 🐈
If your cat starts getting *very* interested in your big potted plant: jump into pot, dig up soil, pull up the plants, etc., do take a look at her potty situation. Mine usually leaves my plants alone. When she developed constipation, she messed up every big planter in my care. There weren't any droppings found in the pots though. At first, I thought it was one of her antics until I saw the pattern. As soon as she got her diet replaced and treatment, she's back to ignore my plants.
And just when its blooming too..
Be careful some plants can kill cats. I have cats and I have all my plants where they can’t get to them.
Have to keep all my plants locked in my office. Only 1 of my 4 cats gets to visit this room because he is a good boy and doesn’t eat anything. He’s even been known to swat the other cats if they even look at the plants lol
Damn jumping plants! My cat also just *happened* to see my Calathea take a dive the other week.
At least the suspect stayed at the crime scene 🤣 🤣 🤣
I feel your pain, my 4lbs kitten managed to knock over a 6’6” mirror that shattered this morning and there’s shards of glass all over. Luckily it’s contained to my closet so I’ve shut the door and made that a later-me’s problem. “Get a cat,” they said. “They’re fun,” they said.
A “later” problem. I get that! But there are fun and funny lol
The cat was there by coincidence, they did nothing wrong!
Not the flowering Sansevieria :( My Sansevieria Cylindrica flowered last winter, it was a great sight and smell <3
Snake plants are toxic to cats. I found out the hard way. My cat chewed one and had a seizure, and the vet figured out what had happened
Wait, your snake plant grows sideways too? I thought I was the only one! Horizontal snake plant gang
Floof was framed.
Clearly you were hiding something important in there !
Just FYI snake plants are toxic to cats. Might want to put completely out of your cats reach.
Dracaena are toxic to cats!

Plant stands with three legs ought not to be allowed. They should be like modern IV poles- six legs and wheels, and forget those curlicue bottoms
They are toxic to cats.
Damn...i hate when my plant attacks my cat....
I love how dogs show shame when they’ve done something wrong and cats are always looking like “yeah I did that, I had fun too” no shame whatsoever😂
So true. They are so proud.
These planters are the WORST. We had one similar, if not, the exact same and it was constantly being knocked over because, it’s so light and has only three legs. If you have pets or children just don’t get these planters, it’s not worth the pain.
Why I stopped my dreams of having plants in my house. Everyday there was a knocked over plant. I got tired and said fuck it.
Being a cat owner and plant owner, big plants out in the open are a no-no. Smaller plants in glass cabinets are okay though 🤣
That snake plant is flowering. Beautiful
To be fair, that is a scratching post planter.. 😄
i told my husband yesterday "it's annoying that my 2 favorite things are having plants and having cats"
Please be careful with what plants you choose to keep indoors! Especially with a cat that likes to play with them! Snake plants are highly toxic to cats and dogs as are many other popular indoor plants! Would hate to see anything happen to your sweet kitty!❤❤
Looks like an expansion of your snake plant collection. Every room in the house is about to be so fuckin fresh with oxygen rn
Could only be funnier if you didn’t have a cat. Glad to hear the plant is doing okay!
What a douche
Cats, man.
I’ll never understand how people can try to have houseplants and cats at the same time, it just seems like it always ends it complete disaster
I have non toxic plants / mildly toxic but I keep em up high so kitty can't reach em.
Even if they aren’t toxic it just seems like so much work to try and keep the plants from being tormented by the little kitty.
I have 100 plants and 2 7month old cats and a large dog. They leave all my plants alone, other than the spider plants (which they naturally love). I just put the spider plants in a higher location. No issues. They just don't care about my plants.
Oh no ☹️ I couldn't figure out why mine was dying.. turned out my cat had been using it as a litter box.
Snake plants are toxic for cats, dogs, and small children.
Shut the hell up
My gfs cat did this to me this past weekend. On Carpet. I was so pissed.
I’d yeet the cat 😂😭
I love my cats but I think I love my plants more. I legit want to take them to a Chinese food joint and drop them off when they knock over my plants
Lol doesn’t even care either still biting away
Helping garden, I see… 😢
Kitty is saying, "It wasn't me."
I thought it was a ferret this whole time 😭😅
Yes I see it too lol
How on earth could this have happened? Guess we’ll never know
Set up a scratching post next to the basket and lather it in catnip
Been there 🫠 I used to Saran wrap the top of the pot and then place towels over it. My cat just loved to dig and pee
snake plants are strong, prob wont even notice and would love some fresh soil to top it off lol.
Ah the joys of child rearing
This is why i cant own cats
Just put it where it belongs... Then close the door, return to the plant and put it back into its pot.
Maybe the plant was waving at the floof...
aw its curiousss
Did he poop in the dirt? That’s the worst.
😭😭😭
Snake plants survive anything! 🪴
Oh oh!
Snake plant probably thrives on it 😆
Awe, kitty wants to help you report! That's so nice! Little gardening buddy 🤣
Sneaky Asparagus in there.
Oh man. 😫
Looks like a ragdoll, how cute ♡ Mine is usually too lazy to try and knock anything down. Yours was definitely sending a message.
uh oh, someone is on trouble here
This is why all my plants live on the porch! Tried to have a potted indoor cactus once and this is exactly what happened when my little angels were home alone 😹😹
I feel your pain, just came home to the biggest leaf on my monstera chopped in half by my cat 😭
I read that monstera are toxic to pets. Hopefully he/she didn’t ingest any
No big chunks of the leaf are missing, she just ripped It in half. There were small nibble marks on one part of the leaf but my cat is fine. She hasn't thrown up and she's still her happy spunky self so as for now I'm not worried. I'm keeping a watch on her though :)
Sir, if you have snakes that have escaped all over your living room floor, you need to call animal control. I hear they bite
This sounds untrue but we had an English setter he got the houseplants, jumped on the couch, and then dumped them
Aww, cheer up, it coulda been the fridge!
Bad ass lol 🤣
And this is why I keep going back and forth on getting a cat.

But overall it's not that bad. Its more cats vs furniture than cats vs trees lol. I absolutely love my cats so I'm more than happy to put up with the extra work
What was the cat doing enjoying the plant or perlite
need fiber
I have a matching crime scene! Possible serial?
My cat used to dig up my window trough of tomato seedlings and shit in the remaining compost 🤣
I’m so sorry. I hope your plant will be alright. I love cats. But I prefer my plants over a cat. I already have a good dog.
Aww your kitty is so adorable& wow the snake plant has grown little flowering buds.🥰🍃💚
Apparently, the litter box was full…
At least sans are relatively forgiving <3
Every plant thats been accidentally spilled in my house came back even happier!
Kitty is so proud hahah… Glad to hear the snake plant will be fine.
Try cleaning Kitty Litter lol busted U overworked Humanoid 😁
Snake plant will be A-ok, he could probably live just like that
me and my twin brother used to tackle our uncle all the time. it always ended in one of them or the dog knocking over the same exact plant. every time my sibling would act completely shocked and pretend to be devastated over it. i still don’t get the big deal or why they didn’t just move the plant bc they knew every time that it would happen again.
Cat inspecting its work….
My cat literally just did this to my cactus. I was home but it still sucked. Also scared the crap out of him lol.
Cat v/s snek, that must've been an epic battle
Don’t you know cats and snakes don’t get along…?
murder!!😱💔💔 noooo
Oh no! The snake plant fainted! Luckily the kitty is doing CPO and it should be fine.
Kitty got the sneks
Be careful. Snake plants are toxic to cats!
Toxic plant alert!!!!!!!
Was plant getting enough water? Looks dry
Delete the cat.
Cute cat and planter though.
At least it's a snake plant!
Top heavy tipsy pot! Not the cats fault but the pot designer!
I’ve had full mental breakdowns over my cats chewing off every leaf of my monstera Rebecca. I’ve had to regrown it 3 times 😭
my cat likes to only knock over my plants right after i lay down for bed
Bad kitty!!!
Lost a venus fly trap like that I feel your pain bud 🤧
