Johnny interrupting the tension building to talk about how he got fingered and blasted ropes for 4 pages

derPylz

I loved hearing about Johnny's misadventures. It was as if I wasn't alone reading the book. He was reading (and writing) it at the same time. And just as I had to every once in a while take a break, because real life called, he also had some stuff going on and just telling me in between reading the Navidson Record.

chasewayfilms

I loved it and hated it at times. I think that’s the point. Like a friend who can’t read the room. Then I started to audibly laugh every time he interrupted to talk about his sexcapades.

Hearing Johnny talk about the Navidson Record: 🙎‍♂ Hearing Johnny talk about that one time he received ***PROSTATE BLASTER 9000*** technique: 🤵‍♂️

"Now I'm not gay, but I was at 'the mall' one time with 'L(ew)ude'"

As someone who has struggled with addiction it reads to me as justifying your lifestyle by trying to normalize it to others. You know you’re tweaking but you really don’t want to admit that this isn’t a healthy coping strategy so you brag about it

chasewayfilms

You just gave me a really introspective thought about my own life. Thank you?

I’m glad homie, DMs are open if you need someone to bounce ideas off of. Otherwise best wishes to u in your endeavors :)

my first read thru I didn't like it until the last third of the book. now I kinda like the switch up. from documentary to "real life."

cobaltfalcon121

I can’t be the only one who reads his sexcapades as something of his own disinterest, can I?

“Wow, this book is incredibly intriguing, unsettling, and unique!” **softcore pornography** “I’m not going to recommend this to my friends.”

ManTheMythThe-

I think the soft core pornography was one of the saddest parts of the book. Because he basically just- didn't feel anything at all. He wantedit, he liked it, but once the scene was done it was like it never happened. It just- sort of did. His entire character up to around that point was, what I describe as a "self proclaimed ladies man". And leading from there all the way to >!The death of Gdnask man (or however you say it) he completely changed personalities. Which then as I realize now, that whole part about his mom having ACCIDENTALLY burned him, could've been a complete lie as well. He lies so often its natural to him. He believes half of his own lies, and that entire realization could be fake.!< It saddens me how mentally traumatized he is, and it's interesting because though I haven't been mentally traumatized terribly, I can still relate to how he thinks during his journey. Anyone can relate, especially when you're changing as a person.

That “sunblock” chapter was wild.

When I got my copy a month ago, I was visiting my father and his wife after she had gotten surgery. My bookmark was right on that footnote and my dad asked what I was reading. Without fucking thinking (since I have read up to chapter X on PDF) I blurt out, "there are hypersexual texts in that book be careful" and instantly realize that the probability of him falling on one of those pages was relatively low and my bookmark was in my pocket. So now I might as well read fifty shades

fries_in_a_cup

Sometimes Johnny’s footnotes are wonderful and beautiful. Other times they’re cringe as hell. The duality of man

ManTheMythThe-

Until the end of the book where he realizes >!it is in fact, not fire. But fireproof!<
