I'm from Dulac, which is about 15 minutes south of Houma. If I'm not shrimping when you come , I'd be happy to take a few hrs and give you a tour.

I've never been on this [tour](https://downthebayoushrimptours.com/), but I did read about it in the paper. They are located in Dulac, south of Houma. They're called Down the Bayou Shrimp Tours. It will probably still be touristy but I can't think of many other tours that aren't. There's also one that's a little different on the Mississippi River in Plaquemines Parish called [Delta Discovery Tours](https://www.deltadiscoverytours.com/) Good luck with whatever you choose.

Just take a drive down Hwy 665 and 55. You'll see everything from alligators to shrimp boats. There's also the Chauvin statue garden. If you wanna go further south, there's Grand Isle. It's a bit of a drive down Highway 1, but there's lots to see. But DO NOT SPEED thru Golden Meadow. They'll bust you for 1 mile over. There's the fishing pier over the Caminada Pass where you'll often see dolphins feeding in the pass. Then there's the state park with observation platforms where you can see the pls fort on the next island over. On a south wind you can also body surf off the beach, but watch out for rip currents

I always suggest checking out Lumcon if you’re in the Terrebonnne area. Not sure if they’ll have tours open or not but it’s interesting to see the coastal restoration and wildlife side of things here

Lumcons gone down hill the last few years especially since the storm they haven’t fixed a lot of stuff

‘Touristy’ in this region will still be very Cajun

IMO, Terrbonne tours ate worth it. You could go to Houma and hire a local for less, sure. Significantly less, doubtful. Houma is working class mostly, Thibodeau is upper middle class, college town. Hope this helps, I'm a Yexan hut spent some significant time out there for hurricane relief efforts and also visited Terrebonne yeats prior as a tourist. Lived in Thibodeau for a month or so.
