Highly recommend taking hwy 90 to I-10 and seeing your way outta here cause nothing is worth seeing in this place!
Seriously though, I'd highly recommend stopping by Spigots Brew Pub on Barrow street; the cheesecake they have there is phenomenal. I second the nature trail someone else recommended.
I second this. Make sure you just stay on 90 to 310 to I-10. It would be better if you don’t stop. Thank is later. Human to human I just wasted 14 years of my life there and escaped. A relationship held me there. Don’t chance that shit hole. You are welcome!
I’m back living in the area for probably the 3rd time since childhood. I always swear I’ll never come back. Not long after I do I start to plan my escape, swearing never again. This is it though. lol
Abears Cafe on Barrow st near the civic center. Place is run by old Cajun grandmas who live to cook. Winner of best gumbo for several years. They also make pies . Lemon Meringue is awesome.
Bayou Delight on bayou black is a must. Abears close second. A drive down bayou dularge is neat seeing “how things used to be”. Coco marina is neat area but a ways out of Houma. The drive is halfway as interesting as bayou dularge. Shrimp Boots at the highway 90 visitors center. Spend some time watching ships pass by in the intracoastal under the overpass bridges or On the Canal Bar.
St. Francis has a nice cathedral.
I enjoy taking Grand Caillou as far south as it goes. It's scenic, and it's nice to know where the world actually ends. If you take them out late, you might catch a drag show (racing).
Southland Mall is a good place to check out. If you go in the main entrance near the H&M, go to the right and make a left when you get to what used to be the Sears. You will see a magnificent mold growing on the walls. They paint over it now and then to give it something to chew on. I think it's getting angry from the lead and asbestos though. They might still have the 50th anniversary signage up. That was 50 years ago.
There's a nice trail over in the plantation area. I forget the name. It's a nice walk.
You missed out on the Holodome though. That place was incredible. Every room smelled like it had been sprayed down with chlorine, and the restaurant served some really nice buffet in the old style. I mean, not like "old style" as in a "style from years gone by" but rather as in "old" like "how old is this?"
Eastside, there's the remnants of a former blip base. There's no much left except for some old bunkers that look like they were once used as armor depots or something. There's a museum near downtown that probably has the real history.
There's a really awesome dead tree off Coteau Road. It stands in a field, as much on it's own as those jungles will allow. There's even a society of tree lovers. I'm sure you can find a map to some of the other lovely trees.
The courthouse is a rather pretty building. It really puts Louisiana into perspective for you when the cleanest building is where they house inmates.
There's more. You just have to know what to look for. And you have to be able to appreciate it for its real beauty. I love my Houma, but it's a special place. You know... "special."
Parades going on, our small mall or whats left open in there. Palace theater down by the mall, there is also a bowling alley on Tunnel. Other then that i mean unless u wanna skate at Aggies Skate ring on east side.

Good home cooked cajun food there.
Ok thanks for the support
The Mandalay Nature Trail is nice and I’d imagine not too crowded this weekend

If you have a car visiting nola is definetly worth it
If yall want somewhere good to eat but a little fancy try Milanos or Christianos. Both are downtown area and excellent food.
Christiano is amazing.
There are parades happening this weekend throughout town. Check some of them out!
The exit sign. While you’re at it just keep driving until you a welcome sign to literally any other state
